SPECIAL REPORT - Is PASOK "Adjusting" The Vote Share For May 6 Elections?

Has the socialist PASOK party committed electoral fraud by "adjusting" the vote share for the upcoming May 6, 2012 elections? Well the buzz in the blog sphere is that the socialists are trying to increase their voters by "generously" handing out massive citizenship statuses to thousands of illegal immigrants.

More precisely, before being appointed as spokesman for the socialist party, Fofi Gennimatas (who was at the Interior Ministry until the beginning of April) apparently began giving out citizenship status to thousands of illegal immigrants who are now expected to vote at the upcoming elections. Since the majority of Greek people have turned their back to the socialists, PASOK is doing what it has always done best... it is "adjusting" the share of votes to remain in power.

As you will see in the documents below, PASOK has given out citizenship status to many illegals who live in Albania and these are just in April. We wonder how many they have given out to others from Pakistan, Afghanistan and India. It is almost like a Déjà vu of 2000 when the Simitis government was charged of giving out more than 150,000 citizenship status to illegals in order to "adjust" the election results. And from what history showed they did... and PASOK won that election by a narrow mark. Is this what they are trying to do at this election?

God help us if they are.

They did not give mail voting rights to Greek citizens who live abroad... but are allowing illegal immigrants to suddenly gain status for the "Freaken" vote! Disgusting!

In our opinion this is fraud plain and simple, and although technically the term 'electoral fraud' covers only those acts which are illegal, the term is also used to describe acts which although legal, are considered to be morally unacceptable, outside the spirit of electoral laws or in violation of the principles of democracy. And certainly Fofi Gennimatas and her political party can already be charged of unacceptable moral behavior.

Think about it, this type of electoral fraud can only be compared to a coup d'état. In a very important election a small amount of fraud can be enough to totally change the results and we all know that our creditors are trembling with the sudden rise in popularity of some of the other parties as well as New Democracy which might be in the lead, but if given the majority will not be easily controlled whereas a coalition government (with Yes Men Soldiers in PASOK) can.

Definitely this move decreases voters' confidence in democracy there is no two ways about it. Even the idea is damaging as it makes people less inclined to accept election results. And we wonder... with so much noise being made on the Internet about this hasn't the main opposition New Democracy party realized what is going on? And if they have... then are they willing to point the finger towards PASOK or are they waiting to see what the results will be like and then make their move?

Is this why there are already rumors that we will be heading for a second election in October?

Friends... this is insane. They are playing us for fools and once again playing Russian roulette with our democracy. In fact... these types of methods are only used by dictators or third world countries!

And it would not surprise us if this type of fraud was used in most of the public opinion polls they conducted over the last few months in the framework of swaying voters.

Which kind of makes perfect sense since the potential gain here is worth the risk for the cheater; and in this case PASOK has EVERYTHING to lose and nothing to gain by becoming fourth or fifth party.

Certainly there are penalties but those who commit this type of "fraud" never expect that it will be discovered and that it will be excused, unfortunately for PASOK it was discovered it is not going to be excused and we present the documents... Read them and Weep.

Pciture Of Greek Flag In Top 15 Of TIME Mag.

Every week the e-version of Time magazine features the top fifteen pictures of the week. Guess who made it to the list this week? The Greek national flag! It is a picture showing the workers of the Greek parliament who are taking down the old flag and replacing it with a new one. It almost looks like the workers are determined to keep it standing and flying high... metaphorically saying a lot about this country and its people. With so many negative images of Greece over the last two years it is a sigh of relief to finally see a positive picture of our country.

Athina Onassis To Sell Island Of Skorpios

The private market for small islands in Greece is not new, since over the years they have been purchased by financial magnates and the super rich of the Jet-set world. However, the debt crisis has apparently also soured the super wealthy, or the owners of these islands, who are now being squeezed to pay up or ship out from all the tax increases so they have decided to sell their small little paradise to the best buyer.

Unfortunately such is the case on Skorpios. The island which in the 1960s hosted the world's Jet-Set community was bought by famous ship-owner Aristotle Onassis for 15 million US dollars.  But today Artistotle's granddaughter, Athina Onassis, is doing everything in her power to rid herself of the island.

In the past she had asked for 200 million US dollars and there were rumors that Microsoft's Bill Gates was interested in this investment, while later other reports said that Giorgio Armani was also willing to buy it for 150 million euros.

Luckily, she has not been able to sell the island as of yet and this is because Aristotle Onassis had placed a clause in his will in the case of Skorpio island which stated that unless the island becomes impossible to maintain it, then it has to remain in the hands of the person who inherited it (at the time it was his daughter Christina). Thank the heavens Aristotle did this, because he and all the other members of his family -including Athina Onasis' mother Christina - are buried there.

Athina, on the other hand, who has never associated herself with Greece or has shown any interest in uncovering her Greek roots is trying every trick in the book to rid herself of this island. Some reports claim that her lawyers are looking into ways of by-passing this clause and leasing out the island for a period of 99 years so as to escape the heavy taxation.

Today she lives in a posh neighborhood outside of Brussels, in one of the most elegant homes in that area. She and her husband Alvaro apparently fled from Brazil, where the super rich usually fall victim to kidnappings.

Another case involves the island of Oxia, which is owned by the Greek-Australia Stamoulis family. The island is situated in the Ionian Sea, 38 miles from Ithaca (Odysseus' legendary home) and is quite frankly a nature reserve, but there is a small part of the island that can be used for construction or commercial purposes. The Stamoulis family had initially set the price at 7 million euros but apparently sold it -or is just about to sell it- to an Emir from Qatar for 6 million euros.

Fans of Panathinaikos Form Political Party

In our quest to find an offbeat story this week, we discovered that Panathinaikos fans formed a political party and are urging the fans of the Green team to endorse them with their vote  According to an article in proto thema the "Panathinaiko Movement" will also be a choice to voters in the upcoming May 6 national elections. Their president George Mbetsika has rounded together quite a few candidates that are now campaigning all over Athens and the wider region. Unfortunately the new political party did not have time to organize itself with other candidates across Greece but nonetheless is hoping to get enough support in Attiki.

Did Singer Efi Sarri Join A Convent?

Did sexy singer Efi Sari retire to a convent and become a nun? According to the an interview she gave to the "Phileleftheros" newspaper and "DownTown Cyprus" she did, and said she arrived at this decision because she wanted to finally gain some peace in her life as well as come closer to God. Of course this was not permanent, but rather a temporary retreat so that she could get a better focus on things. Once the news got out, STAR channel's "Apogevmatino Meleti" show with journalist Eleonora Meleti interviewed her on camera where she revealed that she only stayed at the convent for 20 days thus putting an end to the rumors that wanted her to be dubbed as a nun, while she spoke of the real reasons that prompted her to take this decision. Sari said that the criticism she has received -by the media- was depressing to her and that she was not able to handle it any more. She spoke about her experience at the convent, revealed that her real name is "Ifigenia", while she underlined that she was not planning to return permanently.

(Editor's Note - Nice marketing Efi... Anything to get the attention of the media! Koritsi mou... when you sing "Afrikane.. Afrikane... with a "focus" on a "brother's" family jewels what do you expect people to say? When you sing "Stavroste Me... Stavroste Me..." in order to get into politics with George Karatzaferis' LAOS party and then when you don't because the media thought it was tacky... what do you expect people to say? IT WAS TACKY. And finally when you wear "asthma" skirts and dresses that have to be pulled down with every breath WHAT THE HELL do you expect people to say? Unfair? Give us a break!)

Τι σε οδήγησε στον μοναχισμό, Έφη;

-Τι εννοείς; Βαφόσουν για να βγεις στην πίστα και να τραγουδήσεις «στα κρεβάτια τα ξένα θα ονειρεύεσαι εμένα!» και ταυτόχρονα άναβες καντηλάκι;

-Αυτό πότε συνέβη, Έφη;

-Και τότε πήγες τελικά σε μοναστήρι;

-Τον μοναχισμό πότε τον ασπάστηκες;

-Ως δόκιμη μοναχή;

-Και από εκείνη τη μέρα συμμετείχες κανονικά στη μοναστηριακή ζωή;

-Με τα ράσα δεν δυσκολευόσουν;

-Και μπορούσες να ξυπνάς κάθε μέρα στις 5, όταν για πολλά χρόνια εκείνη την ώρα εσύ πήγαινες κανονικά για ύπνο;

-Οι άλλες μοναχές τι σου έλεγαν; Ήξεραν ποια είσαι;

-Και γιατί δεν έμεινες τελικά στο μοναστήρι;

-Θες να μου πεις ότι όλο αυτό το έζησες λόγω μίας σατιρικής εκπομπής;

-Σου έκανε καλό τελικά η παραμονή σου στο Μοναστήρι;

-Μήπως το Μοναστήρι ήταν απλά μία λύση ανάγκης της στιγμής και όχι κάτι βαθύτερο;

-Εσύ τι από τα δύο ήσουνα;

-Θα ερμηνεύσεις ψαλμούς δηλαδή;

-Γιατί αποφάσισες να δημοσιοποιήσεις τώρα όλο αυτό που έζησες;

Is a tsunami in the forecast for Greece?

Is a tsunami in the forecast for Greece? Presenting his findings at the Annual Meeting of the Seismological Society of America (SSA) on April 19 in San Diego, German geologist Klaus Reicherter said that this is a highly likely event and it should be expected soon! The Professor for Neotectonics and Natural Hazards at the RWTH  Aachen University in Germany said he basis his theory on centuries-old sources such as 5th century B.C historian Herodotus (484 BC –  425 BC) and on the findings of excavations in the village of ancient Potidaea in Northern Greece. In fact he said that a tsunami should be expected very soon in this region with tides that reach as much as 3-5 meters.

The history books tell us that a tsunami was the savior of Potidaea In the winter of 479 B.C drowning hundreds of Persian invaders as they lay siege to the ancient Greek village.

New geological evidence suggests that the region may still be vulnerable to such catastrophes and Reicherter and colleagues have added to the story by sampling sediments on the Possidi peninsula in northern Greece where Potidaea (and its modern counterpart, Nea Potidea) is located.

The sediment cores apparently showed signs of "high-energy" marine events like significant waves, and excavations in the suburbs of the nearby ancient city of Mende have uncovered a high-energy level dated to the 5th century B.C. The Mende layer contains much older marine seashells that were probably scoured from the ocean bed and deposited during a tsunami.

Earthquake forecast modeling in the North Aegean Basin near the peninsula suggests that future earthquakes in the area could produce significant tsunami waves, although the area is not included currently in the ten "tsunami" prone regions of Greece. However, the geologists note that their new findings suggest the Thermaikos Gulf where the peninsula is located should be included in tsunami hazard calculations, especially since the area is densely populated and home to many holiday resorts.

Julie Alexandratou & "Naked Truth" In Politics

Greek socialite, media personality, glamor model, singer, actress, and pornographic actress Julia Alexandratou and her political party "PANO" (or the Panhellenic Indignant and Ecologist Movement) is really taking this campaign stuff seriously. Julia believes in the "naked truth" and plans to be very active if given the opportunity to get into parliament. Her latest campaign poster proves our point. What a patriot! (lol)
"Don't ask what Julia Alexandrato can do for you... but think what you can do with Julia! The only leader of a political party that does not have any taboos about the "naked" truth!"

VIDEOS From The Funeral Of Dimitris Mitropanos

It was a sad day at the First Cemetery in Athens on Thursday as the world said its last goodbye to singer and now legend Dimitris Mitropanos. His surviving family was said to be in a terrible state, as was his sister who two years ago sacrificed one of her kidneys just to keep her loving brother alive, while his koumbaro and long time friend Paschalis Terzis could not stop weeping.

Mitropanos is now resting next to other legends such as Xylouris and Tsitsanis and although the state wanted to honor him for his work and pay for his funeral, his family refused because Dimitri had instructed beforehand that such an offer would be unfair to other less privileged people.

A gentleman... and a man of principle and honor until the end.

Thousands of people attended, including leading artists such as Kokotas, Marinella, Nikolopoulos, Mikroutsikos, Dimitra Galani, Alexiou, Mbasis, Kotsiras while his friends and fans accompanied the procession till the very end, showering his coffin with flowers and singing "S'anazito" and "Alimono" to him.They remained at his grave and continued to sing his songs... while others mourned, in the same fashion they mourned for other legends before him such as Stelios Kazantzidis, Manolis Aggelopoulos and Vassili Tsitsani.

The following post is a collection of several videos from Thursday's funeral.

Last Poll Results Before May 6, 2012 Elections

Who will emerge as the governing party at the upcoming elections?  According to a series of poll results from VPRC, RASS, ALCO and Kapa-Research, that were published today, it doesn't look like the two leading parties will gain a majority government. Poll results will be banned as of tomorrow and not published until the May 6, 2012 election date so that voters can have a more objective opinion on who to vote for.

VPRC - According to today's VPRC opinion poll New Democracy will keep a 7.5 points lead over the ruling PASOK party and win the elections with 22 percent, while PASOK will not surpass the 14.5 percent mark. NEW SCANDAL - Germans Set To Expose MPs Who Acquired Sudden Wealth

We here at hellasfrappe have often said that the rich in Greece only get richer... and the poor only get poorer and we are not kidding! According to reports, while our government asked us to tighten our austerity belts for the good of the economy, they suddenly became very wealthy. How wealthy you ask? Well... according to a new scandal that is about to explode in the next few days from German reporters (who are presently investigating the matter) several MPs became so rich that they have been buying up a storm of properties all over the Greek capital with funds that cannot be explained!

According to a report in kourdistoportocali the scandal claims that top-level ministers suddenly gained enormous amounts of wealth during the 2009-2011 period in the backdrop of a bankrupt country. Was this because they wanted to challenge the posh lifestyle of their confident Akis Tsochatzopoulos, who incidentally lived like a king... but is now presently rotting away in some jail cell after being charged with money laundering? Or is it because they want to "launder" this sudden wealth?

No one knows... the only thing that is certain is that the story itself is scandalous, because it only comes to prove everything we have said about our government here on hellasfrappe. They are so conniving, corrupt and determined to fatten their assets that they forget that now their get rich quick tricks and tactics are being monitored by mama Germany and other EU countries!

The story has already raised many eyebrows in Athens, but it also caught the attention of Germany which decided to send seven reporters to Athens to cover this news story. According to sources, the German reporters are presently gathering information and it is expected that they will be exposing the story within the next few days!

SPECIAL REPORT - The Debt Deal Between Rich & Poor Will It Succeed Or Will It Fail?

Conspiracy writers say that there are "instruments" used that help to funnel money from the World Bank, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and other foreign aid organizations into the coffers of huge corporations and the pockets of a few wealthy families who control the planet’s natural resources. Their tools include fraudulent financial reports (often the product of credit rating agencies), rigged elections, kickbacks, payoffs, extortion... you name it. Now, now, before you start accusing hellasfrappe of dreaming conspiracy… start laying down what has happened to Greece or your country since the 2008 financial crisis, and then begin piecing everything together for yourselves.

Friends... globalization, or the philosophy behind banking systems such as the IMF and the World Bank, is nothing more than manipulation by the corpotacracy and the use of debt, bribery and political overthrow.

The basic scam is simple, put the country in debt through its own indiscretion, or by corrupting the leader of that country, and then impose structural adjustment policies, often consisting of the following:
  • Currency devaluation – If the value of a currency drops, so does everything valued in it. This makes indigenous resources available to predator countries at a more attractive price and a fraction of their actual worth.
  • Social cuts - Large financial cuts in social programs; these include the education and health care sectors, compromising the well-being and integrity of society, leaving the public venerable to exploitation.
  • Privatization - Privatization of state-owned enterprises this means that socially important systems can be purchased and regulated by foreign corporations for profit.
  • Trade liberalisation – the opening up of economy through removing any restrictions on foreign trade. This allows for a number of abusive economic manifestations, such as trans-national corporations bringing in their own mass produced products under cutting the indigenous production and ruining local economies,  lowering the competition of national economies by western imports,
Sound familiar...

Without having to think really hard, think about all the cuts that have taken form on the middle class over the last two years. Our wages have been slashed, the education and health care system has suffered, just recently we found out that they are now examining the welfare system as well and they are pressing us to move ahead with a "sell-all" privatization campaign.

All this because we were cursed with having natural resources such as oil, natural gas, gold and minerals...and anyone who goes up against these interests (who have now set Greece as a target) will be taken out of the way.

Take for example former leader of the conservative party Costas Karamanlis, who refused the IMF, did not want to surrender the name of Macedonia and who wanted the people of Greece to benefit from this nation's natural resources and refused to hand things over to western interests (which have enough money and assets to begin with). They attempted to assassinate him... and we all know today that he was purposely taken out of office through the help of their "Yes Men" and suddenly we became sitting ducks for all these interests.

We are totally at fault for this. Because we refused to listen two years ago to a man who was being hit left and right by lies and falsifications... today our country is in a stranglehold of the Memorandum. Everything we fought for to achieve as a nation (and this applies to every one all over the world) is being exploited by large corporations that stand behind these world banking systems. As a result, we have lost many rights and our sovereignty is hanging by a thread. And all this, because we opened the door to the global bankers.

How much damage? Well... a cursory glance at the World Bank performance record reveals that the institution that publicly claims to help poor countries, and alleviate poverty, has done nothing but increase poverty and the wealth gap… while the corporations that back this bank have watched their profits soar! So much so, that in 1960 the income gap between 1/5 of the world’s people and the richest countries versus the fifth and the poorest countries was 30 to 1.

And get this... by 1998 it was 74 to 1.

In fact, while global GMP rose 40 percent between 1970-1985 those in poverty actually increased by 17 percent and from 1985 to 2000 those living on less than one dollar a day increased by 18 percent.

Even the joint economic committee of the US congress admitted that there is a mere 40 percent success rate of all World Bank projects.

So why the hell would they ever think that they would succeed here...?

They know very well they will never succeed. Even if our governments followed their plan to the tee... these corporate run banks would find some other type of debt to pile us with, until they really get what they came here for and in our case, it is our natural reserves and the reserves of all the nations in Northern Africa, the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean.

And if you think for a minute that we are only blaming the IMF and not the ECB and the EU for purposely giving us the wrong medicine to relieve our economic woes, think again. We know that Europe is going to suffer from a severe energy problem by 2020 and are well aware now as to why Germany is so adamant about setting up alternative energy sources here in our country. They used their "Yes Man" to do this for them with a suspicious project named after the sun (helios), and we also know that this is one of the reasons they want us to allow FYROM into NATO because it will allow an open highway for this energy to pour into the rest of Europe. We are well aware of what they want... and we realize what the corporate interests backing these banks are capable of but if they think for a moment that we will accept this... then they better come up with another plan.

Scheming and suffocating a country will never allow them to achieve the impossible and this is because we as a people are too proud to allow this to happen. And this is not because we have a history of "anarchy" in our blood as Kissinger says, but because we are the cornerstone of democracy. and the source of inspiration for the whole world. Already our struggle has become a beacon of hope to other southern European countries and the more they battle us, more and more nations will support us.

The corporate interests backing these banks should be advised to back off... because other nations are being inspired by our fight.

If you get right down to it... the World Bank and the IMF are just banks. They might be largest providers of capital aid, but we all know that all this money is made out of thin air, or a fractional reserve banking system so what is there to be afraid of? It is actually kind of funny if you think about it. The same system that corrupts and topples governments, that steals from the poor to maintain the wealth of the ultimate rich creates money out of air and then makes us... the less fortunate pay for it.

It is the same system that is supported by secret groups and societies where if you are a member you have an open door to privileges not realized by us commoners and if you are not... well then tuff luck.

Folks… things are not as they appear. NBC is owned by General Electric, ABC by Disney, CBS by Viacom, and CNN is part of the huge AOL Time Warner conglomerate. Most of our newspapers, magazines, and publishing houses in Greece as well as anywhere else in the world are owned - and manipulated- by gigantic international corporations.

Our media, just like yours, is part of this stench-smelling, corrupt and greedy corporatocracy and those who can influence are paid top dollar (tax-free money) to brainwash us every single day. In fact, the officers and directors who control these communications outlets are keen on strengthening and even further broadening this very corrupt system and this is all because of greed. THEY WANT EVEN MORE! Unfortunately they are very efficient in doing so and when opposed, they can be ruthless.

So much so... that we are afraid that they will "rig" the national elections which are coming up because they are trembling over the results.

Its pretty simple logic when you get right down to it. We know that they are here to claim a stake in our natural resources... because the debt is too impossible to ever pay back. But what guarantees us as a nation that we too will benefit from this? Look what they did in Sierra Leon which is the world's center for diamonds. Wasn;t it the same elite that operated there? Did that nation benefit? We don't think so. Its people are stinking poor.

So adding more fluff through our media is not going to help matters when we already have witnessed such economic damage.
What they have done, however, is killed our democracy. And this is not just in Greece, this is all over the world. Let us face it. Today there is only IBM, AT&T, DuPont, Dow, and of course Exon. These are the modern "nations" of the world and the only entities that actually have influence. We are all working for their behalf, including our governments because their wealth is so immense that some of them are more economically powerful than oil producing countries.And what do we do as a people? We continue to support them! So much so.. that we have allowed Wall mart, General Motors and Exon to become more economically powerful than Saudi Arabia, Poland, Norway South Africa, Finland, Indonesia, and many other countries.

Doesn't this scare you? Our democracies have been bumped off by a couple of corporate buffoons who attend masonic meetings and marry their children off to other wealthy families to maintain their wealth. But we continue to shop at Wallmart because it sells the laundry detergent for 4.99, or purchase Nike shoes... knowing very well that they supported non-regulated inhumane sweatshop factories. Sure the quality is good, but how good does it make you feel knowing that you paid 100 dollars for a pair of shoes that was made by someone who makes no more than 10 dollars a month?
So the burden falls on you to see the truth beneath the veneer and to expose it. First of all start living a more humble life. You do not need all these things.

Then speak it to your family and friends and spread the word. Remember what we said at the beginning of our story: their biggest threat is being exposed.

Friends... We need a revolution in our approach to education, to empower ourselves and our children to think, to question, and to dare to act. Set an example. Become a teacher and a student; inspire people around you through your actions.

You will not suffer if you purchase a lesser known brand... or miss a sale on laundry detergent... You do not have to be Gandhi, or Martin Luther King to make a difference in this world... you do not have to run to a square and hurl petrol bombs either... all you need to do is not endorse corporations that back dirty banking systems that destabilize countries.

It will be your own revolution against the elites and corpotocracy and to one thing... and one thing only GREED.

We owe it to ourselves, our children, our tomorrow and our very own conscious.
While you might think the little things you can do are insignificant and have no effect, with enough people these small things add up and make an even bigger change than any single organization or person could ever do! It all starts with you, and your willingness to help create the world that you dream of.
We must never allow all these corporate assholes to create us into economic units whose only function is to behave and pay off their gambling debts to stock market hunches. We are not subjects, numbers and/or unfeeling machines… we are humans!

Last Goodbye To Dimitris Mitropanos

"All of us will mourn for you... because you belonged to Greeks everywhere"

Genuine, a "magga" and a fan of the Olympiakos team, Dimitris Mitropanos will be buried today at the Athens First Cemetery at 14:00. His friends say that he was a man, with a capital "M," who stood by his principles and always focused on the family. So much so, that he was the one who usually did the grocery shopping for his three favorite women, or his wife Venia and his two loving daughters Mirsini and Anastasia.

His coffin was placed on public display a little before the funeral and tens of hundreds of people holding a simple rose, or carnation visited the small chapel to pay their last adieu. Aside from his family and close friends, tens of hundreds of common everyday people rushed to the cemetery to honor him. Because of this the family of the deceased asked that instead of wreaths, that a deposit be made to the Welcome Center and Solidarity Municipality of Athens for the Homeless, Account No. 064 / 48,000,015, at the Greek National Bank.

Dimitris Mitropanos died on Tuesday morning at the age of 64 after suffering a serious heart attack, exactly one year after the untimely death of Nikos Papazogloy. The popular singer whose deep voice spoke to our hearts with every breath, was born on April 2, 1948, is a beloved singer to millions of Greek people all over the world for his mastery in Laïkó music (a type of Greek music).

His song "Alimono" (which says "woe" to all of those who will never come to know what love is... for they will never realize how beautiful life can be) is one example of the magic of his voice. Anyone who has loved, and has endured pain because of this love has listened to this song on more than one occasion and every time it is the same ritual. We pause, hum the words and feel a sharp tingle in our hearts.

Mitropanos followed one philosophy "life is a lottery" he would often say. He believed in the simple life, things such as the sound of the bouzouki, the gentle strum of the guitar, and the need to always have an open kiosk close by to get a pack of cigarettes were his biggest passions. A simple, humble man and one who sang with earnestness and fervency. This is what we believe Greece will miss the most.

But music fans will always remember him for giving voice to the deplorable position of Greece in the difficult post-war period. Because he experienced poverty for many years, this was directly channeled through his music and deep voice. It was an almost childlike expression of hurt, deep from within the soul and it made our hearts ache sweetly.

This gentle manliness and scorn for luxury was actually the secret to his greatness and this is why common everyday people felt so connected to him.

Basically, Mitropanos' achievement was to express the undiluted social and emotional upheaval that Greeks have experienced in the periods before and after the junta. At first the listener may not be aware of this, but his voice is saying something powerful and direct about the last four decades in Greek history because every song gave many the ability to feel unified and equal. .

No Dimitri... we may have yet to find Kithara, as you say in your song... and we are determined that someday our people will get there! The inspiration to reach our potential as a people speaks volumes in your song and through your voice our dreams and desires as a people are conveyed.

Your death is an emotional event for all of us and today every one of your fans all over the world will mourn for you, but we promise you this... that your words, and especially your music, will forever be impressed on our memories.

May your soul rest in perfect peace!

Goodbye Dimitri...

With deep regards
Marina Spanos

NEW SUBMARINE SCANDAL In The Works Starring E.Venizelos

credit - defencenet
Two documents that were recently exposed only prove the theory that PASOK is and will always be the political force that made shady dealings a religion! New information was revealed concerning recent defense systems contracts. The documents that concern the deal surrounding the purchase of the Type 214 submarines is more than scandalous, it is totally shocking and it touches all the governments that have ruled this country since 1998 and is not just about Akis Tsochatzopoulos who is now in Korydallos prison with charges of money laundering! To be more exact... it literally strangles the governments of PASOK under Costas Simitis as well as George Papandreou, and at the same time raises some serious questions about the responsibility and sudden "indifference" on this subject by the current leader of the socialists Evangelos Venizelos!

Before we begin analyzing the documents, it should be noted that the submarines are not being criticized for their capability and/or quality but rather for their mysterious price tag. Another thing that should be not overlooked -but rather taken very seriously- is the responsibility of Evangelos Venizelos, who endorsed these contracts and then took them to Parliament where they were ratified by his PASOK party and the party of LAOS under "Mr. Kolotoumbas - or Mr. Flip-Flop" himself George Karatzaferis', also known as PASOK's biggest advocate and Costas Karamanlis' biggest critic.

According to the military news site defencenet (which published this shocking story) the documents prove how little Greek citizens know and understand defense systems contracts and how opportunists use these transactions that concern billions of euros (and that allow these billions to change hands) to then create debt at the expense of the Greek people.

It also proves how our leaders -especially of the socialist sort- mishandle (d) funds -or rather how they loot (ed) the state - since they are the genuine documents concerning the TKMS which show that we were being offered two brand new Type 209 submarines with the upgrade of the Neptune II program.

So here is the scandal: Seven months after the offer, says defencenet,  these same submarines were paid with 515 million euros in cash plus 250 million euros in other additional costs by the Greek state!

(The offer concerned two new Type 209/1400 submarines, or the same type received by South Africa, but with an AIP system).

In a nut shell: Greece was offered two free submarines for upgrading a contract, instead of modernizing another ongoing program but the State at the time opted to pay almost three quarters of a billion euros following the signatures of PASOK and LAOS!

(The cost of 209/1400 AIP was slightly lower, or about 70 million from the 214.)

(The German "gifts",  which were necessary because the upgrade to the Neptune II program of 209/1200 with AIP, had failed on the OCEAN S118).

The upgrading on the OCEAN never occurred, and this is one of the reasons that they kept on postponing their delivery since September 2009. The cost until the present moment has been calculated at some 500 million euros, but defencenet said that this is something that will concern us in the future and not now.

And get this: Seven months later Evangelos Venizelos gave them 515 million euros in cash!

Unbelievable!

So the Greek state got stuck with a bill of 515 million Euros which was ultimately paid by Greek citizens, plus a further EUR 250 million in additional costs.

The obvious question is why did Venizelos do this and why did he not use this offer as a basis for negotiations in the the framework agreement?

Let us take a look at what the Germans proposed when they realized that the Neptune II project was heading towards a dead end, having already spent 60% of the total budget.

The documents below are from the CEO of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems in Hamburg, Germany.

Crisis To Deepen, Recovery Not Expected Before 2013, says IMF

In its spring report on the outlook of the global economy, the International Monetary Fund forecast said that economic recession in Greece, Portugal, Italy and Spain will be deeper and noted that recovery was not expected before 2013, in contrast with other Eurozone economies, where a shallow and short-lived recovery was expected.

The IMF said the Greek economy will remain in recession this year, with the country's Gross Domestic Product expected to shrink by 4.7 pct in 2012, from 6.9 pct in 2011, while the GDP was expected to stabilize around 2012 levels next year.

The IMF said the inflation rate will turn negative, -0.5 pct in 2012 and -0.3 pct in 2013, while the unemployment rate will rise to 19.4 pct of the workforce in 2012, to remain unchanged in 2012. The country's current accounts deficit will fall to 7.4 pct of GDP this year, falling to 6.6 pct in 2013, form 9.7 pct of GDP in 2011. (AMNA)

After a nail-biting auction held at Christie’s South Kensington in London, the famous cup of Spyros Louis fell into Greek hands once again and according to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation will now be on display for all Greek people at its Cultural center which should be complete by 2015. Just a short while ago, the Foundation announced that it acquired the Breal’s Silver Cup, (which was the first award given to Greece at the first modern Olympic Games that were held in Athens in 1896) for some 450,000 pounds following a very heated auction. In a press release, the Foundation announced that it will place the cup on display at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center but in the interim, it will work to find a suitable and temporary location for display.

Pangalos Defends The "We-All-Ate-Together" Theory, Says "Imia Crisis" Was Minor

Commenting on rampant tax-evasion and corruption in Greece, with the recent arrest of senior PASOK cadre Akis Tsochatzopoulos for money laundering, his colleague, and long-time standing PASOK MP, Theodoros Pangalos, once again defended his controversial “we-all-ate-together” statement on Wednesday telling SKAI host Mr. Iokonomou that he was well aware about the kickbacks, while he characterized the "Imia" crisis... as minor!

Noting that Tsochatzopoulos was never one of his favorite people, Pangalos termed the tragedy on "Imia" as a minor event... and said that the reason the government of PASOK (during the period 1996-2004) purchased so many defense systems was because the real threat was a Turkish provocation against Cyprus and the government felt that Greece "needed more weapons" because of this and said this was a positive move.

Trying to avoid the reporter's questions on the issue of kickbacks in defense systems contracts, especially the TOR-M1 contracts, Pangalos admitted that he knew that "kickbacks" were being handed out. You can search and find the kickbacks, he said.

"The two parliamentary probes did not uncover such information," he added.

He said that all citizens are responsible in a democracy, while he noted things such as political favors, tax dodging, etc..

Editor's Note - Indeed the citizens of this country are responsible Mr. Pangalos... but not for eating "all together" as you state... but rather for voting for your wanna-be socialist party which took off their turtle necks and began wearing Gucci. The socialism you speak about has you... and all the members in your socialist party... living on champagne and caviar, while we -the rest of Greece- have to make do with half a loaf of bread. Shame on you for characterizing the Imia crisis as a minor detail... THREE mothers are still mourning for their sons who lost their lives there that night in defense of Greece's flag .. THIS WAS NOT MINOR. Thank the heavens you are finally retiring and we will never be obligated to listen to you again!

SPIEGEL - Young Greeks Struggle to Gain Foothold in Berlin

Faced with increasing unemployment in Greece, bright and educated young Greeks are now fleeing to Germany by the thousands in the hope of finding work and setting up a new life for themselves. However, once there, many struggle to find jobs, especially if they don't speak the German language.

In October 2011, when the German parliament, the Bundestag, approved additional billions in aid for Greece and other European Union countries, Thalia Paraskeva, 24, decided to leave her homeland. She packed warm boots, a few dresses, a jacket -- and a Greek-German dictionary. For months, the newspapers in Athens had printed cartoons depicting the Germans as Nazis, concentration camp guards and euro-zone imperialists who allow their debtors to bleed to death. But Paraskeva's friends and relatives told a different story. They raved about a country where there was work for everyone who wanted to work. They told her about the uncles and aunts who had left Greece for "Germania" after the war and found happiness there. Most of all, however, they raved about Berlin.

Paraskeva had received a degree in graphic design in Athens. But then the crisis arrived, and no one wanted to hire her. She waited tables and earned a little money with odd jobs, until even those jobs fizzled out. Anything is better than Athens, she thought, and booked a ticket to Berlin.

VIDEO REPORT - Georgiadis & Manolidou Get Whipped With Food By Protestors

Talk about a mess! Parliamentarian Adonis Georgiadis (formerly with the LAOS party and now with New Democracy) and his wife Evgenia Manolidou decided to go for a coffee last Holy Thursday, following liturgy, at a chic little cafe in Nea Philadelphia in northern Athens.Little did they know that they would be met with a roaring crowd which reacted very negatively when they spotted them. The scene became so intense at one point that the protesters grabbed everything in site and began whipping it at the couple so they could leave. Items such as ketchup, mustard, sweets, yogurts and everything imaginable were flying through the air making their way smack on Georgiadis' jacket and Manolidou's perfect hair. The situation became so intense that even the other parliamentarians accompanying the couple got a free food mask as well. This is just one more incident of many... showing how angry citizens in Greece are with the leaders of this country. Yuk...
