Authorities Continue With Search for More Accomplices of Xiros

Following the arrest of two alleged accomplices of Christodoulos Xiros in Kalamata on Wednesday, Greek authorities have beefed up their efforts to pinpoint and hopefully arrest any or other accomplices.

Currently they are still looking for a 22-year-old woman who appears to have acted as a messenger between Xiros and various members of the Conspiracy of Fire Cells terrorist group, but at the same time authorities are also looking for a 50-year-old bank employee who is alleged to have rented an apartment in Loutraki that Xiros used.

Authorities suspect that Xiros and the Conspiracy of Fire Cells group may have developed greater ties with criminal gangs. Apparently some officials told the To Vima newspaper that Xiros and the Conspiracy of Fire Cells were planning to play a support (or minor role) in some sort of operation, that also included a daring prison escape. The paper noted that the officers stressed that after Xiros escaped from Korydallos, he joined a criminal group which allegedly receives orders from within the prison and which has formed an alliance with the imprisoned members of the Conspiracy of Fire Cells.
