PM Receives Father of Romanos - Notes That State Cannot Intervene in Justice

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras on Monday told the father of hunger striker Nikos Romanos, who is protesting against a decision denying him an educational leave to attend classes in the university that he cannot intervene in the judicial process, state news agency ANA-MPA reported.

Press reports claim that Romanos' father asked for the amendment to provide a viable solution "rather than being a guillotine or merely describing prisoner rights".

(Strong statement, but is this because the father is a so called self-proclaimed anarchist as well? The apple never falls far from the tree now does it? In fact his parents have said that Greece will soon mourn its first dead political detainee. So one has to really question why all this is happening... and his parents -and their anarchist ideologies- are actually a large part of it.)

The self-proclaimed anarchist, who is serving a 15-year prison sentence for participating in an armed bank robbery, has now entered a 28th day of a hunger strike demanding to be allowed to attend tertiary education.
"As a parent I share the agony for the health of your child, but as a Prime Minister that respects the separation of powers I cannot in any case intervene in Justice," Samaras told Giorgos Romanos during a meeting.
Justice Minister Charalambos Athanasiou also participated in the meeting and explained the hunger striker's father the legal framework put into place for distance learning, adding he also cannot intervene in the decisions of legal bodies.

Athanasiou has called on Romanos to end his hunger strike after submitting an amendment for distance learning, but Romanos' attorney has noted that the distance learning amendment is "a prison cell within a prison cell".

Meanwhile, Minister of Health Makis Voridis said that the national health care systems ESY is providing Romanos with the health care he requires in order to safeguard his life.

Some reports have said that the government has given hospital staff the order to force-feed him, but the doctors have refused.

(The obvious question is why? Do Greek doctors actually want a dead starving man on their hands... Of course they do because our public system works as a state within a state, and the reforms that were adopted to clean up the mess in our public system -most of which was against some of the interests of our doctors and pharmaceutical companies, a lot of whom have millions of euros stashed in Swiss accounts- have put the squeeze on this sector and their free for all -which lasted for well over 30 years- has ended. )

Romanos, who has also stood accused of being an active member of the urban guerrilla group "Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire" has said that he will not down.
"My response is: struggle until victory or struggle until death."
Editor's Note: This last statement is indeed troublesome. He wants to be a victim because he wants to give a reason to the anarchists to spread sheer and utter chaos. The main opposition SYRIZA party, has actually supported Romanos's appeal and as such can also be criticised for being responsible for all the chaos that is currently happening in Athens so far. Shame on them! But then again SYRIZA has supported other well known terrorists in Greece in the past so it should come as no surprise to HF readers since we have posted numerous stories about this in other posts!  As Romanos' health deteriorates, and as he continually notes that he is a political detainee... the issue that is really about a spoiled rich kid not getting his way is being totally blown away by his promoters and endorsers which are the Soros backed Indymedia and the anarchist movement. Frappers... Destroying the infrastructure of our streets and simple neighbourhoods is not for the better good, it simply creates chaos. I don't know if you have noticed, but the streets are once again becoming ever more combustible — just like they were in 2008 when George Papandreou -who today backs SYRIZA- wanted to rise to power. Coincidence? Think Frappers... Think!
