AEK Fans Assault Local Resident Against Stadium Construction

A local resident in the northern Athens district of Nea Philadelphia, who is apparently against the construction of a new soccer stadium for AEK F.C, and who had been a bit vocal about it, apparently found his car damaged and the entrance of his apartment building vandalized, a report in the Sunday edition of To Vima said. The report, basing its evidence from eye witnesses accounts, claims that the attack and damages were carried out by AEK fans.

According to the report, the construction of the new stadium has caused major controversy amongst local residents, with 17 having launched an appeal at the Supreme Court to avert the construction.

Yannis Zampetakis, who is one of 17 local residents who opposes the construction of the stadium, is considering launching a case against AEK FC, as his name, along with the other 16, were made public by the team’s management.
