A group calling itself Popular Avengers on Friday claimed responsibility for sending two separate packages with bullets, to the Governor of the Bank of Greece George Provopoulos and to the co-host of MEGA Television new show, John Pretenderis.

Luckily the packages never reached their recipients and were immediately detected by metal detectors. They were then collected by members of Greece's anti-terrorism squad which forwarded the contents of the packages to forensics experts for further inspection. According to press reports, each envelope contained two 7.62 millimeter bullets as well as a short threatening note.

The same press reports claim that the notes slam Provopoulos' relationship with bankers and at the same time highly criticize the stance of Pretenderis which they describe as being too "pro-memorandum".

The incident occurred one day after Provopoulos told a parliamentary committee that the economy is recovering but that Greek banks may need even more capital once the stress tests conducted by BlackRock are published.
