The brother of the 27-year old rapist who raped, and torched a 34-year old girl last week in Xanthi spoke on Tatiana Stefanidou's "Mila" show about  how his family and friends have handled and have been trying to cope with the news that their own sibling was the one who committed this unspeakable crime. The 27-year old criminal not only abused, stabbed and raped his victim, he then wanted to erase any evidence of his involvement and also burned her alive. And all this just seconds before the young woman entered her parents home just days after arriving to Xanthi from Thessaloniki in order to celebrate the Christmas holidays with them.

The 27-year old monster had been arrested in the past on charges of rape and drug use, and was the key suspect in the gruesome crime from the start. It took about 24 hours, but he eventually confessed to the crime. On Wednesday his brother, noted that those charges of rape were false because he was involved with the girl who accused him. He also revealed that after that ordeal, his brother began experiencing psychological problems and has not been himself ever since.

He told the reporter on Tatiana Stefanidou's "Mila" show that when he heard about the tragedy in Xanthi, he totally lost control. "I fainted when I first I realized that it was my brother (who committed this heinous crime). Following this, my mother and my father also passed out and were rushed to the hospital."

He said that his family and his relatives are still trying to cope with what has happened. "We have totally lost it... my parents and my relatives." everyone he said, and added that the killer's girlfriend left him after a five-year long relationship when she found out who the perpetrator of the crime was.
