The center of Athens turned into "The Far West" late on Friday night when two Georgians opened fire on several police officers from the DIAS squad. More exactly, when several police officers stopped two Georgian nationals in order to check their identifications, after being called to the area for a robbery, the two criminals instead began to fire on the officers and the officers fired back! The junction of Agnanton and Ovrenovic street in Petralona literally turned into a shoot-out gallery Police reports said that just before the incident on Kallirois, two assailants had burst into ground-floor apartment where they vandalized, and robbed a home, including the 38-year old owner's automobile. It is right after this point that they clashed with the DIAS squad. One of the assailants was badly injured, while the other died on the way to the hospital. Original article in Greek on protothema
