Xiros Was Planning Attack At Korydallos Prison To Free Other Terrorists

Recaptured terrorist Christodoulos Xiros along with the mysterious woman who was helping harbor him at his Anavyssos hideout, the 30-year-old lieutenant of the group and seven to eight more people had been targeting Korydallos prison, where they hoped to free members of the terrorist organization known as Cells of Fire (Pyrines tis Fotias).
According to the latest information, the Greek police have managed to identify the woman who was using a fake id card under the name “Eleni Melani” and she is a resident of Palaio Faliro.

The 58-year-old Xiros who had been convicted to prison for multiple life terms for crimes he committed as a member of the Revolutionary 17 November Organization (17N) was escorted to the investigator’s office on Monday at 13.00 am.

Pending results of the ballistic examination of the eight Kalashnikovs found in the terrorist’s hideout, Counterterrorism analysts estimate that they may come across interesting “surprises,” not ruling out the possibility of a connection between Xiros and the Popular Fighters guerrilla group, allegedly related to Nikos Maziotis.

According to the analysts’ estimates, an operation to free the Cells of Fire members from Wing A at Korydallos prison would require at least eight people with knowledge of handling weapons and rockets. These people are probably uncaptured members of the terrorist organization and include the person who acted as the link between Xiros and the criminal groups that sold him the weapons.

Xiros himself is believed to have been responsible for the construction of a 100 kilo bomb that would tear down Korydallos prison walls. As for the mystery woman who was helping harbor the convicted terrorist, she may have been the driver of the group planning the attack.
