The latest cold front in Greece has caused many problems in the power grip and road network, with many areas across the country requiring snow chains. The country's meteorological agency (EMY) has warned that the polar weather conditions will continue for the next of the few days, or at least until Friday.
Residents on the island of Crete were in for a rare, yet cold, treat, as many areas are now covered in snow. A vast number of villages near Herakleio, Lasithi, Chania and Oropedio have been cut off due the heavy snowfall, which is expected to continue.
The low temperatures and snowfall have also blanketed the northern suburbs in Attica, with the frost causing many traffic jams in the central road arteries.
In Northern Greece, low temperatures are ranging anywhere from -3 to -13 Celsius (and without the windshield factor).
