The trial of former finance minister George Papakonstantinou is scheduled to begin on February 25th. The date of the trial was announced by Nicholas Passos, the head of the Special Court that is assigned to try the former minister.
Among other things, Papakonstantinou is charged of striking the names of his relatives and their husbands from a list of Swiss bank accounts from the HSBC branch in Geneva. France's then-finance minister Christine Lagarde, now head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), forwarded a part of the list to the Greek government, hence the widely-used name of "Lagarde List".
