Police On The Hunt For Suspects in Brutal Murder of Famed Author

Greek authorities are now convinced that at least two people were involved in the recent murder of famed Greek author Menis Koumantareas. The latter is believed to have been killed at his apartment in Kipseli last week, Greek reports claim.

The medical examiner report notes that the victim does not appear to have resisted the blows against him, nor did he fight off the attempted strangulation. This, in their opinion, suggests that one assailant kept him down, while the other attacked him.

Investigations have now focused on a man from the Balkan region who appears to have known the victim and had also arranged to meet with him, but the police is unable to locate his whereabouts. At present, authorities are scanning the calls that were made by Koumantareas shortly before his death in an effort to narrow down the ring of suspects.

The fact that the assailants did not use a weapon in their brutal attack, and the careful search of the victim’s apartment leads authorities to believe that the assailants knew the 83-year-old author and may have been determined to kill him, rather than leave him immobilized.

It should be noted, that the victim had filed a complaint against two Albanian nationals in the past, whom he accused of attempting to extort him.
