Raids performed by correctional officers in the Trikala Prison, central Greece, apparently revealed drugs, mobile phones, improvised knives and other contraband objects hidden in the inmates' cells. Assisted by police officials, prison guards performed two raids at the prison, during which they shockingly discovered -and seized- 64.8 grams of heroin, four improvised knives, two mobile phones as well as a plethora of other objects and home-made weapons.
This prison has been in the spotlight since a jailbreak on March 22 jailbreak where 11 convicts managed to escape. Last week, during a search conducted outside the perimeter, authorities also found and safely disposed of two unexploded hand grenades.
