Why are former PASOK MPs who have reportedly either admitted to taking bribes and/or kickbacks still free and wondering about Greece as if nothing is going on? Why have they not been charged? And for God's sake why were former PASOK minister Yannos Papantoniou and his wife Stavroula Kourakou released on bail on Wednesday after defending themselves before a magistrate on charges of failing to declare their assets in their annual derivation of wealth (“pothen esches”) forms?
Apparently this former Defence and Economy Minister, posted a mere 50,000 Euros in bail and his wife a further 20,000 Euros so that they can secure their release, while Greek citizens are being arrested for debts to the state of 5,000 Euros?
Papantoniou served as Socialist minister of finance and national economy between 1994 and 2003. He is facing a maximum sentence of five years in prison after authorities said he failed to declare money under his wife΄s name in an overseas bank account.
The 63-year-old Papantoniou says the money was moved to that account from other bank accounts covered by his tax declarations.
Only Banania Land can operate in such a way.
Papantoniou is not only accused of forgetting to notify tax authorities in 2008 about a 2.2-million-dollar bank account belonging to his wife, he is also accused of being part of very shady arms and defense deals.
Speaking to the Sunday edition of Real News and supporting his decision on the purchase of the TOR M1 systems, Akis Tsochatzopoulos decided to tell it like it is to the Sunday Edition of Real News two weeks ago. Akis is talking... Check out some of the names that he says are connected to these arms deals.

And we once again ask, why is Papantoniou free?
Come to think of it why is Tsoukatos free (who admitted in taking bribes from Siemens and then depositing this money in PASOK's accounts).
And why are several other PASOK MPs free, who are facing similar charges?
Who the hell is running this country?
PASOK?
