GOOD NEWS - After Being In Intensive Care For Months,15 Year Old Myrto Makes First Steps To Recovery

VERY VERY GOOD NEWS - Doctors now appear optimistic about the state of health of 15 year old Myrto who is now showing positive signs of improvement, six months after being brutally attacked and raped on the island of Paros.

The 15-year girl was brutally beaten by Pakistani migrant on Sunday, July 22, 2012, and according to news reports several days ago she finally managed to take her first steps.

Indeed they were baby steps, but let's not forget that up until a few weeks ago she was still in very critical condition.  Myrto's struggle to comeback will be long, but she is fortunate because her parents are by her side every moment of the day, as are the hearts and minds of millions of Greeks across the world who wept when they found out her story.

Her father told the "Proto Thema" newspaper  that the state of his daughter's health is improving slowly, but steadily and that he and her loved ones are hopeful that further progress will be made. "We have patience and only hope for the best," he said.

The 21-year-old Pakistani, who committed this heinous crime, admitted smashing Myrto's head on some rocks on the island last summer where the young 15 year old was vacationing with her family. He did this after the young girl tried to prevent him from stealing her mobile telephone. She was later found with the bottom of her bathing suit removed.

The Pakistani admitted to attacking the girl after a second test of his DNA matched a sample taken from the victim, a police spokesman had said at the time. He was charged with attempted manslaughter, rape and robbery.
