Independent Greeks Take Troika to the International Criminal Court

On Jan. 16, an MP from the opposition Independent Greeks party filed an indictment at the International Criminal Court against Paul Thomsen of the International Monetary Fund, Mathias Morse of the European Union and Klaus Mazouch, of the European Central Bank The indictment charges that the measures imposed on Greece by the accused have led to 3.500 suicides, a massive increase in unemployment with over 1.5 million jobs lost, the closing of thousands of businesses, destruction of the well-being of families and a deep recession.

These measures, they charge, violate the Charter of  fundamental Rights of the EU, on the “protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms”, and its proclamation that “Everyone has the right to life”. They also violate both the Greek Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights. In a similar move, Yiannis Panagopoulos President of the General Confederation of Greek Labor (GSEE), announced his organisation will file an appeal against the Troika’s brutal austerity measures with the European Court of Human Rights.

During the same week, the Medical Associations of Portugal, Greece, Spain and Ireland issued an “Open Letter to Political Leaders and Health Authorities of Europe,” decrying the disastrous effects of the austerity policies imposed by the Troika on the health and lives of the people of their nations. The statement charges the EC, the ECB, the IMF and national governments with failure to take into due account the effects of their social measures on national health systems, and calls for a rapid reversion of those decisions.

The unprecedented appeal begs the urgency of a Glass-Steagall reform to reverse such financial policies which are killing people, and for the immediate implementation of the LaRouche program for an “Economic Miracle in Southern Europe, The Mediterranean Region and Africa.”

Conspiracy Or Truth - Russia To US: Tell The World About Aliens, Or We Will

CLICK ON BOLD LINKS TO CROSS-REFERENCE ARTICLE

A shocking Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) report on Prime Minister Medvedev’s agenda at the World Economic Forum (WEF) this week states that Russia will warn President Obama that the “time has come” for the world to know the truth about aliens, and if the United States won’t participate in the announcement, the Kremlin will do so on its own.

The WEF (The Forum) is a Swiss non-profit foundation, based in Cologny, Geneva and describes itself as an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

The Forum is best known for its annual meeting in Davos, a mountain resort in Graubünden, in the eastern Alps region of Switzerland. The meeting brings together some 2,500 top business leaders, international political leaders, selected intellectuals and journalists to discuss the most pressing issues facing the world, including health and the environment.

Medvedev is scheduled to open this years Forum where as many as 50 heads of government, including Germany’s Angela Merkel and Britain’s David Cameron, will attend the five-day meeting that begins on 23 January.

Critical to note about this years Forum is that the WEF, in their 2013 Executive Summary, scheduled for debate and discussion a number of items under their X Factors from Nature category, and which includes the “discovery of alien life” of which they state: “Proof of life elsewhere in the universe could have profound psychological implications for human belief systems.”

Equally critical to note is that Medvedev, after completing a 7 December 2012 on-camera interview with reporters in Moscow, continued to respond to reporters and made some off-air comments without realizing that his microphone was still on. He was then asked by one reporter if “the president is handed secret files on aliens when he receives the briefcase needed to activate Russia’s nuclear arsenal,” Medvedev responded:
“Along with the briefcase with nuclear codes, the president of the country is given a special ‘top secret’ folder. This folder in its entirety contains information about aliens who visited our planet… Along with this, you are given a report of the absolutely secret special service that exercises control over aliens on the territory of our country… More detailed information on this topic you can get from a well-known movie called Men In Black… I will not tell you how many of them are among us because it may cause panic.”
Western news sources reporting on Medvedev’s shocking reply about aliens stated that he was “joking” as he mentioned the movie Men In Black, which they wrongly assumed was a reference to the 1997 American sci-fi adventure comedy about two top secret agents battling aliens in the US.

Medvedev, however, wasn’t referring to the American movie but was, instead, talking about the famous Russian movie documentary Men In Black which details many UFO and alien anomalies. [Full MIB length movie in Russian with English subtitles can be viewed HERE.]

Where Western news sources quoted Medvedev as saying “More detailed information on this topic you can get from a well-known movie called ‘Men In Black,’” his actual answer was, “You can receive more detailed information having watched the documentary film of the same name.”

The reason(s) for Western propaganda news outlets deliberately distorting Medvedev’s words become apparent after his shocking statement, and as evidenced in just one example of their so called reporting on this disclosure of alien life already being on our planet where the title of one such article was “Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev makes a crack about aliens, and conspiracists promptly lose their minds.”

If anyone is “losing their minds” about aliens, it must be pointed out, it is certainly not Russia, but the Vatican, which in November 2009 announced it was “preparing for extraterrestrial disclosure.”

Equally, and apparently, “losing their minds” are US government officials themselves, such as former Pentagon consultant Timothy Good, and author of Above Top Secret: The Worldwide U.F.O. Cover-Up, who in February 2012 stated that former President Dwight Eisenhower had three secret meetings with aliens who were 'Nordic' in appearance and wherein a ‘Pact’ was signed to keep their agenda on Earth secret.

With the recent discovery in the Russian city of Vladivostok of a 300-million-year-old UFO tooth-wheel, and scientists, astronauts and YouTube users reporting increasingly strange happenings on the moon, the European Space agency reporting their discovery of a 1,000 ancient river on Mars, and UK and Sri Lanka scientists saying they now have “rock solid proof of alien life” after finding fossilized algae inside meteorite, the only ones who seem to be truly “losing their minds” are the Western, especially American, propagandists who for decades have covered up one of the most important stories in all of human history that “we are not alone.”

To if Medvedev will be able to convince the Obama regime to tell the truth about UFO and aliens at the WEF this week it is not in our knowing.  What is in our knowing, though, is that with or without the US, the Kremlin will surely begin the process of telling the truth about that which we already know to be true.

New War Between ND And SYRIZA Over Self-Defined SYRIZA Anarchist MP's "Call to Arms" (VIDEO)

The government and the main opposition SYRIZA party battled heads on Tuesday over allegations that SYRIZA MP -and self-defined anarchist- Vangelis Diamantopoulos issued a call to arms to disgruntled Greeks. In such a framework, the New Democracy released a video of Mr. Diamantopoulos delivering a speech in which he is seen (and heard) suggesting that Greeks taking up guns is a justifiable response to the crisis. But what is really shocking is that he spoke also mentioned "The Mall" and four days later after this statement, terrorists planted a bomb at the well known shopping center!

In a statement, government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou referred to Diamantopoulos as being “terrorist-friendly” and an “anarchist” and accused him of making "The Mall" a target and then the government spokesman called on the justice system to investigate the matter.

SYRIZA responded by accusing Kedikoglou of presenting a heavily edited video of Diamantopoulos’s speech and of taking his comments out of context. A full version of the SYRIZA MP’s speech was then released where he says: “At the moment, they are saying to people: “In your exasperation, either commit suicide or pick up a gun.” What we say is: “Join us and turn this rage into a creative movement. That’s the clear message from SYRIZA.”

Diamantopoulos, who caused a stir in Parliament last week when he said that he had an anarchist background, is also seen in the video saying that the Villa Amalias squat in Athens raided recently by police was not a center of lawlessness.

SYRIZA then accused the New Democracy party of “forgery and disgusting provocation” and suggested that those responsible for distributing the edited footage should face criminal charges.

Both parties have been in a war of words over the last few weeks over the recent spat of violence. The conservatives accuse SYRIZA of not condemning it strongly enough, while the radical leftists accuse the ND party of purposely trying to divert people’s attention from the state of the economy.

President Of Pakistanis Says SYRIZA & ANTARSYA Fantasising Immigrants (VIDEO)

*Statements can be viewed at 58 minutes into the video

On Monday night's Stefanos Chios' "Makeleio" show, broadcasted on Extra Channel, the President of the Greek-Pakistani Cultural Union, Mr. Tzamil, confessed that leftist parties such as SYRIZA and ANTARSYA are purposely manipulating and fantasizing immigrants - to forward their own political agendas. (Agendas of which want the world to believe that Greeks are racists.) He said that the majority of the Pakistani community in Greece was insulted with the images that were projected from the Greek capital at the weekend when tens of hundreds of immigrants bearing the coffin with the body of Pakistani immigrant Shehzad Luqman, who was killed last Wednesday in the area of Petralona, paraded around the squares of Omonia and Kontzia. He said that these political parties, together well anti-racist groups -part of these two parties along with Soros-funded NGO humanitarian groups- are doing this to forward their own political agendas in the historic Greek capital.

He also said that this is not commonly practised in the Muslim religion and left it to be understood that these people were obviously "guided" by political parties such as SYRIZA and ANTARSYA to do so. He also admitted that the new president of the Pakistani Community -who replaced Javied Aslam, who he also admitted has already been accused by Interpol for human trafficking- is working together with "others" to fantasize the immigrants.

The President of the Greek-Pakistani Cultural Union then said that many people from his country, as well as Afghans, and people from Bangladesh do not take part in such protests and are opposed to such actions.

When asked by one of the panelists if he associates himself with the solidarity movement shown by political parties such as SYRIZA and ANTARSYA, he said that he and many more like him do not need "protectors" because they know how to vie for their rights through nominal means. He then stated that his phenomenon has only been happening recently, because these particular political parties and various humanitarian and anti-racist groups "are taking advantage of the immigrants."

The anti-racist protest that was held last Saturday might of been announced weeks ago, but the "organizers" took advantage of the death of the Pakistani migrant so that they can attract even more international attention and tell the world how racist Greeks are. And all this with the blessings of the Athens Mayor Mr. Kaminis, who has also coincidentally set up an anti-racist hot line several days earlier so that illegal immigrants can report violent racist attacks against them. And of course he did this with the help of the Greek State.

We will repeat what one of the panelists said on the Makeleio show -who incidentally is a municipal worker and shocked with everything that is occurring in the Greek capital- when Greek nationals fall victim to racist, violent and brutal attacks from illegal immigrants,  who do they call?

Western Negative Stereotypes About Greeks - Past To Present

by Athanasios Kotsakis

With the Roman conquest, the Greek world came essentially in close contact with the Latin for the first time. This coexistence had multiple parameters. Apart from cultural osmosis between the two sides (both the effects of Greek culture in Roman and other Roman hiring practices and institutions in the East by the Eastern Roman Empire), the two worlds came in conflict with each other since the early Middle Ages.  There were rivalries and frictions, even in ecclesiastical level, between the Old and the New Rome. Those frictions eventually led to the schism between Roman Catholics and Orthodox Christians.

The relations between the East and the West deteriorated after the great migration that took place in the era between the 3rd and the 5th century AD, when Germanic tribes flooded Western Europe and overthrew the western part of the empire, occupying Rome (476 AD). Yet, despite the raids, looting and destruction in the eastern part of the empire, the Germanic tribes were not able to prevail there. Prominent members of the aristocracy in Constantinople founded the "Panhellenic", an institution with strong anti-german orientation.

Panhellenic's ultimate goal was the expulsion of the Germanic tribes from the area of the Eastern Roman Empire, a goal that was eventually achieved during the popular revolt in 400 AD. The aftermath of the riot was the extermination of the Goth Warlord Gaina and of all the Goths who had settled in the vicinity Constantinople.

Since then the Byzantine Empire will continue to be in conflict with the Germanic tribes and the western principalities, culminating in the ideological conflict with the empire of the Frankish ruler Charlemagne and his successors, who claimed the title of "Roman Empire" (800 AD). Wanting even to monopolize this title, Western leaders called the Byzantine emperor simply "king of the Greeks" and not "Roman", who in turn called the emperor of the West just "king" and the Franks 'barbarian race ".

Liutprando da Cremona and his picture for the Byzantines

In the context of diplomatic contacts between the two sides, the German Emperor Otto I (962-973), founder of the later Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, sent Lombard Liutprand, bishop of Cremona, to Constantinople, to negotiate with emperor Nikiforos Fokas, regarding the match of his son, Otto II with Theophano, a greek princess. But it seems that the bad behavior the Byzantines showed to Liutprand - the latter having been sent there as a representative of the German prince, that is a usurper of Roman legality in the Byzantines' eyes - enraged him so much that he wrote a very passionate and strongly critical report on his trip to Constantinople with the Latin title: "De Legatione Constantinopolitana".

This text, which probably reflected not only his personal views but also the prevailing attitudes in the Western world, is considered to be useful for modern historians, in order for them to trace the roots of Western anti-Greek feelings. In this book the Greeks are presented as "frivolous," "stupid", "flatterers," "covetous," "deceitful," "crooks," "untrustworthy," "liars," "traitors" etc. This opinion the Middle-Age Westerners held about Byzantine Greeks may be interpreted in the light of certain "inferiority complexes" of the early Medieval West towards the thriving eastern empire.

In particular, according to Liutprand, "Nikiforos is a truly monstrous creature, a pygmy with giant head, with eyes like the mole, with short beard, broad, thick, whitish. The forehead is one finger wide, his hair scruffy crowning his untamed and wild face, as if he were Iopas. The skin is blackish as if he were Ethiopian .. He is big-bellied with weak glutes. His thighs are large, with disproportionately short of stature, his legs wide. He wore an old peasant cloak, frayed and dirty. His words are cheeky, but his mind is like a fox and like Ulysses he is liar and perjurer" In addition, the Byzantine emperor: is boor, Padfoot, cuckold, effeminate, hairy, uncouth, barbarous, brutal, "walks like an old lady and has a goat's face."

Continuing, Liutprand says: "The king of the Greeks is hairy, wearing a cloak with long sleeves and feminine guise, he is a liar, deceiver, ruthless, sly fox, arrogant, stingy, greedy, eating garlic, onions and leeks and drinks valnion. Instead, the king of the Franks is good looking, he is not wearing women's clothes, he covers his head, he is sincere, he is not deceiving anyone,he knows when to be compassionate, strict when necessary, he always has real humility, he never becomes a miser, he does not eat garlic, onions and leeks to make savings on the animals."

Also:- The Emperor cheats (...) and does not tell anyone the truth. He did as the Greeks always do".
  • "Greeks are of uncertain faith: Latins, look carefully! Do not believe them, nor hear their words. How much more will they lie in order for Argos to prevail! ".
  • "The perjurer Greece."
  • "The deception derives from the Greeks, so that everyone can judge them from a single crime."
  • "How much ready are the Greeks to swear on the head of another."
  • "The skimpy dinner begins and ends with lettuce, once closed the dinner of their ancestors."
In the latter passages there is use of negative stereotypes about Greeks, that derives from Roman antiquity, which as it turns out, were in use and during the Middle Ages. The latter phrase, though not at all flattering to the Greeks, proves that Westerners saw the Byzantines descendants of the ancient Greeks, as they are faced as a single entity. And the negative characterizations against the Greeks and especially against the Byzantine emperor are clearly excessive and exude empathy.

So nearly a century before the schism of 1054 the existence of negative stereotypes established, on a part of Westerns and especially the Germans, concerning, in particular, the reliability of the Greeks and their hostility towards the West. From 1054 onwards the characterization of the "schismatic" or more rarely of the "heretic" will be added to the anti-Greek stereotypes, given that the Roman-Catholic Church did not regard the Orthodox heretics but only schismatics.

Since the late 11th century  by conducting the 1st Crusade and especially after the fall of the Byzantine Empire by the troops of the Fourth Crusade, relations between the two sides dramatically deteriorated. The defeated Greeks will face not only the oppression but also the mocking of Western conquerors, who thought of them as "people of scribes."

The Chronicle of the Morea and the image of the Greeks

The rivalry between "Roman" (Greek) and Franks (medievalFrench) is reflected in the "Chronicle of Morea", a text of the 14th century, probably written by Gasmoulo of Peloponnese (f758-761, 769):

Regarding the split between the two Churches (1054) Chronicle of the Morea says:
"Anti-Greek" Western stereotypes of modern times until the Greek Revolution
The negative pattern for the Greeks will be repeated to a degree in works of Western travelers who visited the Aegean in the 16th,17th and 18th century, as in these of the Western officials.

For example:- The Venetian monk Paolo Sarpi (1552-1623) called the Greeks  "infidels" and said they need "a little bread and lots of whacking" ("poco pane e molte bastonate") and should be treated as wild beasts, they must be constantly humiliated and prevented from training with weapons.
  • The Italian Pilgrim Zuarllardo writes in the late 16th century: "We should not trust the Greeks too. they are known enemies."
  • The French Aegean traveler  Jean Thévenot (1633-1667) said that: "The Greeks are covetous, infidels, traitors, pedophiles, very vindictive, hypocritical and very superstitious," and that " They hate the Catholics more than the Turks."
  • The French Jesuit Robert Saulger (1637-1709) called the Orthodox inhabitants of the Cyclades "schismatic" and "superstitious" and believed that the Greeks are "pride when they are greater, but humble when they lose and sometimes by necessity are liars". Also, "They are crafty, a little unstable and truthful in their friendship. So in the East will refer to the Greek  infidelity and will tell you to believe the opposite of those that the Greeks believe." But these supplements do not apply to everyone, because in the Aegean Islands met "many who were very sincere, honest and prudent."
It should be noted that these passages are not representative of the Western writers who refer to the Greek Orthodox population of the Aegean. Anti-Greek feelings is not usually the most dominant element in their writings. However, repetition in modern times of medieval negative stereotypes about Greeks is something that could not pass unnoticed. This phenomenon is obviously part of the overall climate of the time in the western area where the image of the Greeks (Hellenes) is generally not the most positive.

Only later, with the emergence of artistic and ideological currents, such as Romanticism, will the interest rekindle  in Western Europe not only in ancient Greece, but also in the fate of the contemporaries, enslaved Greeks. Many Western Europeans will indeed come as volunteers to fight alongside the Greeks during the Greek Revolution (1821-1829), a phenomenon that will be repeated until the Greco-Turkish war of 1897 and the Cretan revolutions of 1866 and 1896, as in the First Balkan War (1912-13), mostly by Italian Garibaldini.

On the other hand, Westerners Hellenists will significantly promote the Greek (Hellenic) letters (eg Louis, King of Bavaria and father of Otto of Greece) and despite the unilateral persistence in ancient Greece and the rejection of the Byzantine past, they could be described as real and warm Philhellenes, given the practical support in the Greek (hellenic) national liberation struggle.

However cases of other Western Europeans who favoured greek (hellenic) but who were also violent anti-Hellenes as the Dutchman Cornelius de Pauw, the Prussian Jacob Salomon Bartholdy, the English William Gell and Thomas Thorthon, and also the British Richard Chandler and Charles Perry, who argued that modern Greeks are "resourceful, cunning and crafty people" and "deceitful, crooks and traitors."did not disappear. The most famous scholar, however, in this category was the Austrian Philip James Fallmerayer (1790-1861), who was best known for his theories regarding the absence of any relationship between ancient modern Greeks (Hellenes).

Also in the mid 19th century the image of Greeks (Hellenes) for much of the Western public opinion was very negative, given the reluctance of Greece (Hellas) for alliance with the Western coalition, which campaigned against Russia during the Crimean War (1853-1856 ) and the mission of Greek (Hellenes) volunteers alongside the Russians. The overall picture, however, of the Westerns for the Orthodox world was generally not the best, as opposed for example with the image that had many for the Muslims, but at the time allied Ottoman Empire.

Western European and especially German negative stereotypes about Greeks (Hellenes) (late 19th - early 21st century.)

Dealing with the ancient Greek (hellenic) past and the promotion of Greek (hellenic) letters will continue primarily from the German educational and research institutions throughout the 20th century, but the geopolitical conflict between the two countries, which are found in opposite camps during the two world Wars will not favor the occurrence of philhellenic feelings for the modern Greeks, although there have been several Germans philhellenes throughout the last half a century.

Already almost from the first day of the Federal Government, of Bismarck (late 19th cent.), some Greeks blamed the Germans -as part of their geopolitical ambitions- they wished to govern Greece "as a province of Bavaria" under the doctrine of "Deutschland über Alles". Also noted that the tight embrace between Germany and the Ottoman Empire before and during the First World War was not unrelated to the systematic extermination of Hellenism in Asia Minor by the Neo Turks, who were planned by German officers - consultants, as Fr C. Otto Liman von Sanders who called the Asia Minor Greeks "hostile elements, inspired by revolutionary ideas from outside", which should be prosecuted mercilessly.

During the Nazi period there is evidence indicating that the Greeks (Hellenes) were accused as "lazy and cafe  habitues", that  the Germans said they would oblige them to work "as they know how to put slaves to work."

Today, 70 years later, the scene is repeated in some way with one another form. The military invasion of the Third Reich in Greece (Hellas) has been replaced by common consent of the German economic penetration, reaching far to undermine our national sovereignty, in a quasi-re-known from the 30s and 40s as "living space" of Germany (" Lebensraum ").

Also, articles in the German press, especially in broad popular consumption, characterize the Greeks (Hellenes) "vermin," "lazy," "crooks," "thieves," "liars," "worthless," "untrustworthy," who should be punished with harsh economic measures or the loss of part of their territory (eg some islands or even the Acropolis itself!), preferably in favor of Turkey.

Similar types of publications have been identified in other countries such as Denmark and other Nordic countries, secondarily in England and rarely in France, but above all perhaps in Holland, where in addition to the above, the Greeks (Hellenes) are seen as "inventors" of gay sex . Often Greek (hellenic) immigrants living in central and northern Europe, mainly in German-speaking and Nordic countries, face the ridicule and scurrilous attacks of a not insignificant portion of the indigenous populations there.

But such a war  is not limited to the Greeks (Hellenes), although our people is at the forefront lately of the peoples encountered derogatory, primarily by the Protestant north. Mediterranean peoples, and especially Catholics, with not particularly great appeal to economic growth, are treated as category B Europeans, on one hand effected by the current economic crisis on the other, ridiculed by some partners in northern Europe, they have been characterized as "lazy ", "parasite", " pigs ", etc. While believing that they are "sinners" who should be "imprisoned".

The existence of these stereotypes is obviously a product of various combinations of parameters: firstly the current politico-economic conditions and also the different glimpse into the personality, culture and historical and cultural background among the peoples of Europe. It seems that has somehow developed in Europe a psychological gap between the Protestant north and Catholic (and Orthodox) South, which, however, due to the gradual spread of economic crisis and north of the Alps, begins to subside, though perhaps not at the expected degree.

Moreover, the fact that Greece is a true European country, but not essentially Western, as orthodox, seem not to create favorable conditions for developing this very friendly feelings of the western side of cycles that affect to some extent the common opinion, some of which connect or identify Greece (Hellas) with their enemy, Russia, even talking about "slavic-orthodox" culture and has become a reason for the existence of an "unholy alliance" or an "axis of evil" of the Greek Orthodox and Serbs during the wars of former Yugoslavia in the '90s.

Also, in the German press of the era was pulled from the limbo of history the theory of Fallmerayer, for obvious reasons, and maps were circulated to Greece as a patchwork of peoples, with the eastern Aegean islands belonging to Turkey.

Of course phenomena of suspicion and hostility toward the West, especially to the Germans, have been observed previously on a part of some Greek Orthodox, given the many negative experiences accumulated from centuries of coexistence with the West. So in light of the above could be interpreted the phenomenon of being in Europe today some negative stereotypes about Greeks, and certainly in line with the general historical background of relations between the Greeks and the West.

However, the peoples of the West, including parts of northern European populations, begin to understand now the real causes of the current global economic crisis, developing in many cases philhellenic feelings, even philhellenic action: eg movement "Je suis  Grecque" (I am Greek Movement), developed in Nantes, France from the end of 2011, which has spread to other countries, is perhaps the first important example of European solidarity movement to the Greek people. Also, from February 2012 Italian mayors offer symbolic salary in favor of the Greek people in the solidarity movement philhellenic "Magna Grecia" («Great Greece").

The Greek (Hellenic) civilization and the human values, which it represents, may constitute a realistic alternative, universal character anthropocentric proposal against the Protestant value system and the instrumentalist Anglo-Saxon thought, a product which is now the dominant socio-economic anti-human, neoliberal model emergence of the individual benefit. The struggle today is not so among the Greeks (Hellenes) and the West, but between peoples and the global financial oligarchs and their oppressors.

The request to return to the values of Greek (hellenic) culture seems now increasingly imperative for all mankind, this helps the Greeks to get closer to with the peoples of Western Europe, leaving behind any prejudices and passions of the past.

Tsipras Presents SYRIZA’s Strategy At Brookings Institute (VIDEO)

Oh how times change and how easily one can spot an opportunist! Just less than two years ago, the radical left SYRIZA party of only 4-7 percent followed an "anti-capitalistic" ideology, but today all this has changed because little Alexis saw an opportunity and grabbed it. On Tuesday, January 22, SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras spoke at the Brookings Institute, about Greece and the economic challenges ahead. His speech focused on the economic and social prospects of Greece, its relationship with the rest of Europe, the reforms needed to address the crisis and what role the US can play in assisting Greece and Europe tackle these problems.
"Is there anything to fear by the left wing in Greece? In what way are we radical?,” visiting leader of the main opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) Alexis Tsipras asked an audience at Brookings Institution, Washington, on Tuesday. And he answered: “Scaremongers will tell you that our party, if it comes to government, will scrap the loan agreement with the European Union and the IMF, will lead the country out of the euro zone, will interrupt Greece’s ties with the civilized West, and that Greece will become a new North Korea."
Tsipras’ speech was preceded by introductory remarks by Brookings Institution managing director William Antholis, while the discussion with questions from the audience was coordinated by Brookings’ economic analyst Domenico Lombardi. The event was attended by a number of ambassadors, including Greece’s Christos Panagopoulos and Cyprus’ Pavlos Anastasiadis, as well as by academics, analysts and journalists.
"When I was little,” Tsipras said, “I remember my elders telling me that if America grabs a cold, Greece will get ill with pneumonia. Today, I hear that some of your politicians warn the U.S. government to listen to them if you do not want to be...Greece. One thing is clear: our countries can be very different in size and structure. We also know that there are shadows and problems of the past that we want to overcome. But there are strong ties which in a globalized landscape are becoming stronger. Because our own destruction affects you as well."
Presenting SYRIZA’s positions for the future, Tsipras stressed that his party wanted to establish a mutually beneficial dialogue with progressive thinkers in the U.S. "We have to prove that humanity has become wiser by the destruction that has been through." The state news agency quoted him as saying that SYRIZA has always been and will always remain a European party. “I hope to convince you that I'm not as dangerous as some are trying to say.., Let me say this clearly: SYRIZA will keep Greece in the euro zone.”

C.Dallara Says Greece Can Return to The Markets in 2014/2015

Speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, the managing director of the Institute of International Finance (IIF), Charles Dallara, said on Wednesday that Greece might be able to return to the markets at late 2014 or early 2015.

At the same time he noted that the market sentiment has improved tremendously in the real economy. “Spain may avoid a bailout, he noted and he insisted that growth’s needed in the country”.

In an interview to CNBC on Tuesday, Dallaras said that Cyprus is the most serious risk the euro zone faces today. "I see a disconnect between Cyprus and its euro zone partners, and I see little sense of how to bridge the gap there. This concerns me, and I also think the risk of complacency, of underestimating the potential contagion impact if you mismanage Cyprus, is quite high," he added.

Criminal Inquiry Against Head Of ELSTAT For Cooking GDP To Justify Greece's Appeal To IMF (VIDEO)

The Financial Prosecution asked for a criminal inquiry against the head of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) Andreas Georgiou and two of his subordinates, over claims that together with the government of George Papandreou they manipulated budget figures to justify Greece’s appeal for an international financial bailout to the IMF.

In a few short words, the “cooked” figures made the Greek government do things that made the government more sustainable than necessary.

The dynamic duo, or Financial prosecutors Spyros Mouzakitis and Grigoris Peponis have asked as a Magistrate who deals with corruption issues to investigate if Georgiou, the head of the national accounts department Constantinos Morfetas and the head of statistical research, Aspasia Xenaki, are responsible for cooking the figures so that Greece’s deficit appeared larger than it actually was, triggering Athens’s appeal for a bailout to the IMF.

The three face charges of dereliction of duty and making false statements.

Former ELSTAT official Zoe Georganta caused a storm in 2011 when she directly accused Georgiou of skyrocketing Greece’s deficit to over 15 percent of the Gross Domestic Product, or three times higher than the conservative government of Costas Karamanlis had forecast in 2009. She had told a panel of parlimentarians last year (March) that she knew of no organized plan behind this alleged manipulation of statistics, and instead blamed the politicians that handled Greece’s passage to the EU-IMF bailout (or former Finance Minister George Papakostantinou and former premier George Papandreou).

Georganta had noted at the time that the deficit for 2009 should have been 12.5 percent of GDP and could have easily been brought to below 10 percent with immediate measures, clearly supporting the estimations made by the previous government of Costas Karamanlis. She had also said that when Andreas Georgiou took over at ELSTAT in the summer of 2010, he employed the toughest methodology available to calculate the deficit, which was revised from 13.6 percent to 15.4 percent. She said that the inclusion of debts run up by Greece’s public enterprises (DEKOs) in the 2009 figure is not a common practise.

On his part, Georgiou, as well as his predecessor Ilias Plaskovitis, have already denied that the deficit figure was artificially cooked. The ELSTAT chief insists that Greece’s accounting standards were simply brought in line with the demands of Eurostat.

SHOCK - 33-Day Old Infant Dies As a Result of Starvation

The infant that was transferred from Leros to the University Hospital of Heraklion with symptoms of starvation unfortunately left its last breath on Tuesday. The doctors said that the infant died from multi organ failure. The tragedy began to unfold last Saturday when a pediatrician from the Leros Hospital sounded an alarm over an infant that was showing symptoms of hypothermia and dyspnea. The infant, whose condition was very critical, was immediately transferred via helicopter to the hospital in Crete where physicians battled against the clock to save its life, but its little soul gave in.

The baby was born on December 15 and weighed at about 3.5 pounds. But during a thorough medical examination it was discovered that its weight was no more than 3 kg. In other words, the baby was being starved. Reports are also claiming that the child's body was covered in sores with pus, while the little boy was also suffering from a bad rash and had not been bathed for days.

The baby's 24 year old mother is currently being investigated for negligence.

PROVOCATION - Pseudo Mufti In Thrace Oversteps Limits

Pseudo Mufti of Xanth
At a conference on January 5-6 held by the notorious "Grey Wolves" in Turkey, the pseudo Moufti in Xanthi, Thrace, who was appointed by the provocative Turkish Consulate in Komotini, apparently declared that "150,000 Turks remain at the mercy of the Greek state". Aside from overstepping his limits, and directly provoking Greek sentiment, this man, also had the audacity to say that although Greece signed the Treaty of Lausanne, it has never respected the religious freedoms of the Greek Muslim community there... which he called "Turkish".

In his speech, the pseudo and illegally appointed Moufti of Xanthi, Ahmet Mete, said that he has noted violations of religious freedom in the area of what he termed "Western" Thrace.

Later on, and in the framework of spreading even more negative propaganda against Greece and the Greek State, he gave an interview to the TRT Haber channel, where he spoke of the "hard life" of the residents "on the opposite bank of the Evros" river. Without any solid arguments as to how Greece is not respecting religious freedoms, he continued with his poisonous interview stressing that "there are a total of 350 dilapidated mosques in the prefectures of Xanthi, Rodopi and Evros without the ability to repair them."

So who is this man and why is he spreading so much hate about Greece to Muslims in Thrace?

He was born in a mountain village in Xanthi and sent from a very early age to Turkey to study, where he completed all stages of education (Primary, Secondary and University). He then returned to Greece after being hand selected by T.Erdogan to begin promoting Turkish politics -or the Turkification of Thrace- through what else... religion. Basically, the "imam-pseudo-mufti" Mete is the bearer of Turkish foreign policy in the area of Thrace.

After hearing his statements which only inspire rage and vomit... We decided to answer Mr. Mete and outline a few facts to him which we are convinced were totally ignored. First and foremost Mr. Mete has to re-read the Treaty of Lausanne. And the reason we say this is because it stands as a stumbling block to Turkish plans and policies, as well as to Ankara's historical tactics against the Greeks of Constantinople, Imvros and Tenedos. In the face of adverse world opinion, Turkey made a series of pleas (first from former Ρ.Μ. Turgut Οzal and then from Tansu Ciller) for the return of all Greeks who were unjustly and improperly exiled from their historic homes, in order to "correct" past Turkish "mistakes". It's hard to take these pleas seriously when the fact remains that the property of those exiled has already been given to new settlers and their former homes have fallen to ruin, while Christian places of worship have been converted to barns and haylofts and family gravesites have been looted.

The plea to return is tendered on the one hand while on the other, the few remaining representatives of a once - flourishing Hellenistic civilization have been deprived of all their rights including, most recently, the right to bequeath their property in a Will. The plea to return is tendered on the one hand while on the other, the Turkish state bears ultimate responsibility for actions taken against the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople and its institutions by Muslim extremists and resentful Turks who are somehow always unseen and never brought to justice.

Friends, the roots of the Thrace issue can be traced to the flagrant indifference demonstrated for years by an irresponsible Athens-centered state, which has systematically and sadly looked on this part of Greece only as a vote-canvassing territory and has shown no concern over the real problems that plague the region, as if it were a tiny distant colony on some Atlantic Ocean island.

Turkey (whose political reins have always been in the hands of the military) has construed Greek policy, briefly outlined above, as an inability on the part of Athens to parry her tactical moves. Thus, Turkey has put a plan of totally objectionable interference in Greek internal matters into motion, using the Muslim minority of Thrace as an excuse, seeking to gain another diplomatic advantage in the Greek - Turkish conflict in Cyprus and the Aegean.

Exploiting international interest in the present and future fate of minorities. Ankara's strategists have taken well advantage of the closed social structure common in Muslim populations, as well as the low cultural development among the Muslims of Thrace, and introduced the elements of Islamic extremism and liberation propaganda (encouraging them to claim Thrace for the Turkish mother world) which have begun to cause considerable problems in Athens and to disrupt the peaceful existence which has existed between the various religious groups in Thrace.

At the same time, agitators have begun to cultivate Turkish nationalism and under the direction of the Turkish Consulate in Komotini, and people such as Mr. Mete strong groups have been organized that spread anti-Greek propaganda on every level and endorse Turkish policies.

As an accompaniment to these methods, which were basically devised by the military, every now and then Ankara speaks of supposed human rights violations in Thrace in an effort to divert world attention from what is really happening here.

Basically Turkey wants to bring the Muslim minority of Thrace into a homogeneous unit, thereby disconnecting the Pomack and Gypsy elements from pure Turks, which would allow substitution of the term "Muslim minorities" with "ethnic Turks".

At the same time Turkey wants to create tension between Christians and Muslims and between the Muslim community and the Greek State. And this is being done so that it can isolate the Muslim minority from the mainstream of Greek life in order to exert greater control.

It also endorses the election of Muslim religious leaders (Muftis) by direct vote, which is contradictory to Islamic law, and which would lead to the creation of a state within a state for the Muslims of Thrace. And finally it wants to spread Turkish positions on minority issues and "legalize" aggression against Greek Thrace.

We would advise Mr. Mete to catch up on his reading and educate policy makers in Ankara to honor the Treaty of Lausanne first before preaching to Greek citizens about not abiding by it. The treaty, which deals with the protection of minorities, has never been honored by Turkey, while Greece has unilaterally respected article 45, giving the Greek Muslim community of Thrace all those rights which Turkey has withheld from her citizens of Greek Christian and non-Christian descent.

While Greece could easily have called on the principle of reciprocity (as provided in article 45 of the Treaty) and demanded, at the very least, equality in numbers between Greeks in Constantinople and Muslims in Thrace, or even adopted the same tactics as those applied against the Greeks of Imvros and Tenedos, the Hellenic Republic did none of these and continued to respect human rights and values, as expected from a just nation, and as a member of the European family.

When Turkey asks forgiveness for her fascist and racist policies against the Greeks of the Pontos (Black Sea area), the Cypriots, the Armenians and from the Kurds, and when she makes restitution for all injustices committed against Hellenism as it existed in Constantinople and on the islands of Imvros and Tenedos, and finally when she commits herself to abide by the Treaty of Lausanne, only then will Turkey -and all those working for Turkey such as Mr. Mete- be able to speak about human and religious freedoms.

Until then.. mouga... as we say sto Ellada

The 100 Richest People in 2012 Could Have Ended World Poverty 4 Times Over

Global Research

The world’s 100 richest people earned a stunning total of $240 billion in 2012 – enough money to end extreme poverty worldwide four times over, Oxfam has revealed, adding that the global economic crisis is further enriching the super-rich. “The richest 1 percent has increased its income by 60 percent in the last 20 years with the financial crisis accelerating rather than slowing the process,” while the income of the top 0.01 percent has seen even greater growth, a new Oxfam report said.

For example, the luxury goods market has seen double-digit growth every year since the crisis hit, the report stated. And while the world’s 100 richest people earned $240 billion last year, people in ”extreme poverty” lived on less than $1.25 a day.

Oxfam is a leading international philanthropy organization. Its new report, ‘The Cost of Inequality: How Wealth and Income Extremes Hurt us All,’ argues that the extreme concentration of wealth actually hinders the world’s ability to reduce poverty. The report was published before the World Economic Forum in Davos next week, and calls on world leaders to “end extreme wealth by 2025, and reverse the rapid increase in inequality seen in the majority of countries in the last 20 years.”

Oxfam’s report argues that extreme wealth is unethical, economically inefficient, politically corrosive, socially divisive and environmentally destructive. The problem is a global one, Oxfam said: ”In the UK inequality is rapidly returning to levels not seen since the time of Charles Dickens. In China the top 10 percent now take home nearly 60 percent of the income. Chinese inequality levels are now similar to those in South Africa, which is now the most unequal country on Earth and significantly more [inequality] than at the end of apartheid.”

In the US, the richest 1 percent’s share of income has doubled since 1980 from 10 to 20 percent, according to the report. For the top 0.01 percent, their share of national income quadrupled, reaching levels never seen before. “We can no longer pretend that the creation of wealth for a few will inevitably benefit the many – too often the reverse is true,” Executive Director of Oxfam International Jeremy Hobbs said. Hobbs explained that concentration of wealth in the hands of the top few minimizes economic activity, making it harder for others to participate: “From tax havens to weak employment laws, the richest benefit from a global economic system which is rigged in their favor.”

The report highlights that even politics has become controlled by the super-wealthy, which leads to policies“benefitting the richest few and not the poor majority, even in democracies.” “It is time our leaders reformed the system so that it works in the interests of the whole of humanity rather than a global elite,” the report said.

The four-day World Economic Forum will be held in Davos starting next Wednesday. World financial leaders will gather for an annual meeting that will focus on reviving the global economy, the eurozone crisis and the conflicts in Syria and Mali. The report proposes a new global deal to world leaders to curb extreme poverty to 1990s levels by:
  • closing tax havens, yielding $189bn in additional tax revenues
  • reversing regressive forms of taxation
  • introducing a global minimum corporation tax rate
  • boosting wages proportional to capital returns
  • increasing investment in free public services

Parliament Forms Committee To Probe Lagarde Case

English: USB Flash Drive SuperTalent Pico-C 8 ...
 (credit: Wikipedia)
Greek political parties are expected to appoint their deputies on Tuesday to the parliamentary committee that is going to investigate former Finance Minister Giorgos Papakonstantinou over the alleged doctoring of the Lagarde list began on Tuesday. The panel is to comprise of five MPs from the New Democracy party, three from SYRIZA, and one from the remaining five parties in the Greek parliament.

The probe, which is set to focus on whether Papakonstantinou removed the names of his three relatives from the controversial Lagarde list (containing the names of Greeks with Swiss bank accounts, believed to be tax evaders), has to be delivered to the House by February 25.

Meanwhile, judicial authorities who are continuing with their probe, granted an extension to an aide to former Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) chief Yiannis Diotis to prepare her testimony. According to reports, Diotis has said that Galateia Mane, a lawyer, helped him copy the list from a USB stick that he was given by Papakonstantinou to another flash drive in June 2011, adding that she then erased one of the memory sticks.

It appears that the USB stick Diotis received from Papakonstantinou was wiped clean, making it even more difficult for prosecutors to work out when it was doctored, nonetheless they are continuing with their investigation.

Turkish Lobby In US Beefs Up Activities To Push Forward Ankara's Positions

WASHINGTON  - The Washington based newspaper "Roll Call" on Jan 15th said that the Turkish Coalition of America is one of the leading spenders for US congressional trips and records by LegisStorm note that the Turkish Coalition of America is one of the top spenders.

In fact, it spent a whopping US $159, 942 in 2012 to send bipartisan groups of staffers to Turkey
in February, March, May, and August of 2012. The August trip included a stop in Bosnia so the Turkish Coalition of America can show efforts by Turkey and the United States to end the Bosnian War.

These trips are designed to increase support for Turkey.

Roll Call notes how the Turkish Coalition has beefed up its travel expenditures in recent years. Apart from this, the Turkish Coalition of America has sent groups of FYROManian Lobbyists, Native Americans, African Americans, and Latino Americans to visit Turkey.

Due to the recent economic crisis in Greece, it is important to note that the Turkish Lobby and its allies (Albanian, FYROManian and Bosnian) have beefed up their activities.

When checking out their site, we found out that the Turkish Coalition provides informational bulletins to members of Congress 12 months a year, and at the same time it apparently organizes and sponsors congressional delegations to Turkey, as well as events on Capitol Hill. Parallel to this it provides a platform for Turkish American activism and advocacy on issues that concern Turkish Americans.

The Turkish lobby believes that through efforts such as the above, that it can easily strengthen a balanced dialogue in Washington, DC on issues relating to US-Turkey relations as well as US policies in the region.

Is the Greek lobby in DC listening?

Metro Workers Strike, But Claim To Be Sick So They Can Be Paid!

An Athens court on Monday evening ruled illegal the labor mobilisations announced by various unions in Athens' fixed-rail public transport system - the ISAP electric railway, tram and Athens Metro. The transport workers are objecting government plans to bring the salaries of all workers at public enterprises, or DEKOs, in line with a new across-the-board pay structure for civil servants.

Following the court's decision, the board of STASY S.A. called on all employees to respect legality, take into account the inconvenience experienced by commuters, as well as the repercussions on the city's economic life, and return to their work. On their part, Athens metro employees said that they will continue their action.

The strike is also highly criticised for another reason. A few several thousand workers who -according to the unionists-  are striking, either claim they are sick, taking a day off, etc., and not that they are striking so that they can receive full pay. (This is very common in Greece's public sector.) When Nikos Evangelatos from SKAI channel asked one of the unionists on Monday night to explain why workers are claiming that they are taking a day off and/or are sick when in fact they were striking, the unionists of course refused to comment. In other words, the unions want to strike.. and get paid for it at the same time!

Our opinion - Fire all of them. Taxpayers are not obligated to pay workers when they are not productive and they are certainly not obligated to pay workers when they are on strike!

Security Cameras Point To Four Suspects In "The Mall" Bomb Attack

credit protothema
Four individuals whose faces cannot be clearly made out have been identified as the key suspects for the weekend terror strike at a shopping mall in the Athens suburb of Maroussi, based on witness accounts and footage from security cameras within the building and in the nearby train station Neratziotissa, police said on Monday.

Officers investigating Sunday morning's bomb blast at "The Mall Athens" said the four are believed to have set the bomb that later went off on the mall's first floor but they cannot be readily identified because they were wearing hoods and baseball caps that concealed their features.

Comparisons of their body type with that of individuals recorded in previous terror strikes indicate similarities that point to their being the same people, however. Police believed it likely that others were also involved in the terror strike, estimating their number between six and eight people.

They noted that the way the bomb was put together - using gelignite and a small quantity of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil (ANFO), two on-off switches and batteries in a cooking pot - was reminiscent of the terror group 'Conspiracy of Cells of Fire' but they did not rule out the possibility that an organisation under a different name would claim responsibility for the hit.

They are also seeking connections between this attack and that on the headquarters of the New Democracy party on Syggrou Avenue, though they consider it likely that the two attacks are by different groups acting simultaneously.

The bomb went off at 10:50 on Sunday morning at "The Mall Athens" shopping centre, lightly injuring two security guards who had been evacuating the public. (AMNA)

Greek Farmers Protest Because They Do Not Want To Pay Taxes

One reason HellasFrappe believes that "foreign interests" are working to destabilize the Greek government (or rather to overthrow it) is the recent announcement from farmers in the region of Thessaly who said that they began protests against the government's new tax law on agricultural subsidies. On Sunday, farmers began parking their tractors in town squares across the Prefecture and believe it or not they are demanding a meeting with Agricultural Development Minister Athanasios Tsaftaris.

One really has to wonder. During PASOK's two year rule, we never saw a tractor on the streets of Greece and the government slashed their incomes by almost 30 percent! Also, the "green farming" idea proved to be nothing more than a scam and this was highly supported by eco-friendly George Papandreou. It therefore does not take a genius to figure out that something else is brewing here, and as always "interests" (foreign and political) are using farming unionists to fire up locals. Besides, we have already experienced such "chaos" (right before the fall of the conservative party in 2009).

They say they are protesting against being obligated to pay taxes... and if this is the case... then it is pitiful. Everyone should pay their share of taxes!

Their work is indeed difficult but no industry can be excused from paying taxes. Especially farmers who have benefited for over 30 years from EU subsidies! Since joining the EU, Greece has received billions and billions of non-repayable subsidies from the EU out of Structural and Agricultural Funds, and on account of these subsidies many Greek farmers decided to give up or to let others farm their land - mostly illegal immigrants- and would live off of the subsidies without doing anything!

Because of this mismanagement, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said in mid December 2012, that he wanted to end farm subsidies because many farmers aren’t growing anything at all but profits by literally stealing government money.

Farmers who manage to cultivate their produce with minimal support from the government, no government subsidies and a deep recession are actually doing a lot better. For example schemes like the "potato movement," which allows producers to sell directly to consumers in a mutually beneficial arrangement was very beneficial to farmers, as well as consumers, because it cut out the red tape, increased production and gave opportunities for work to many people.

In fact a study by the Pan-Hellenic Confederation of Agricultural Association shows more promising signs of life since the financial crisis hit and has revealed that the farming sector has actually grown by 32,000 jobs between 2008 and 2010 - mostly filled by Greek nationals.

But Greek farmers who insist on receiving subsidies claim otherwise. In fact they believe that there is a master plan to ruin the Greek agricultural sector (and, possibly, the Greek economy altogether), but anyone who believes that really needs to have his/her head examined. It’s really quite simple. Greece today has the lowest EU-ranking in terms of ease of doing business and the highest EU-ranking in terms of corruption. Turn those two rankings around and Greeks will live happily every thereafter.

One must remind them that the EU has already said that it was going to decrease its budget spending on agriculture. In fact the EU wants to shift spending from its western members that have enjoyed agricultural subsidies for more than 30 years to the newly accepted member states. It is crucial for them to receive aid because they need to grow and catch up to the already developed countries of the west.

Greek farmers also know that in 2008 there was a stall of negations when many developing countries like Brazil and others in Africa and Asia who confronted the US and the EU over agricultural subsidies because they were found illegal under WTO rules. They claim that it distorts competition by blocking fair trade and is postponing development of poorer nations that rely heavily on agricultural commodities as a source of income.

Loverdos Now Claims He Was Opposed to IMF - Papandreou Very Angry

The things some Greek politicians do in order to win the attention of voters. They lie, they make promises that they never keep and they even try to convince us that they share no responsibility in bad decision making. Former labor and health minister Andreas Loverdos is one such politician. At the weekend he came under attack after having the audacity to say that some members of the George Papandreou cabinet, especially himself, opposed the decision to seek help from the International Monetary Fund in 2010.

Wanting to project the image of a "victim", several months before he proclaims his new political party, Loverdos said that he and other ministers such as Anna Diamantopoulou and Giannis Ragousis advised against turning to the IMF but Prime Minister George Papandreou was in favor of the move and was supported by Finance Minister George Papakonstantinou and Economy Minister Louka Katseli.

(Guess we know who will be part of his new party).

Following the statements, Papandreou issued a statement noting that there was a unanimous Cabinet decision in May 2010 by all who agreed to the first memorandum of understanding with the IMF, as well as the European Commission and European Central Bank.

“Why is he making such a break from the truth?” wondered Papandreou in his statement.

Papandreou, who is still galivanting across the globe, and giving speeches about how to re-design Europe (when in all reality he almost destroyed it) attributed Loverdos’s statement to efforts to publicize the political movement, RIKSSY, he launched recently. “What a shame, Andreas,” noted Papandreou.

Speaking to SkAI television on Monday morning, Panos Beglitis, who held the position of Alternate Defense Minister under the Papandreou government, insisted that there as a unanimous Cabinet decision to turn to the mechanism set up by the Troika and underlined that Berlin and other EU nations insisted that the IMF take part because of its know-how in creating fiscal adjustment programs.

But then again Beglitis is a big supporter of Papandreou, and therefore his word is not that objective.

Our opinion - We believe that the Papandreou government was 100 percent in favor of binding Greece to the memorandums -for many reasons which we will not discuss at the moment-, and his ministers -who operated as a state within a state- were also 100 percent in favor for their own intent and purposes. The attempts by its former ministers to try and get back into the game -or back into politics- by portraying themselves as "victims" and/or "naive" is not really going to cut it. In fact we here at HellasFrappe would like nothing more than to see ALL of PASOK dissolve and fade to history for destroying our economy and for offering nothing more than misery to the Greek people. Loverdos, and all the ministers mentioned above have a responsibility for the current economic, social, and political mess our country is experiencing. At some point they must face their responsibility and stop throwing dust in our eyes in order to patch up their fragmented image!

Gov't Had Signs Of Possible Terror Attack Since 2012

dendias

A week after unidentified attackers opened fire on the headquarters of Greece’s governing New Democracy party with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias said that authorities had indications since November that domestic guerrillas were preparing to strike.

“We were not taken by surprise,” Dendias said at the weekend before a bomb attack on The Mall in Maroussi injured two people on Sunday morning, adding that forensic experts were investigating key evidence found at the site of the New Democracy assault.

In an interview with Kathimerini, Dendias describes the recent wave of attacks on journalists and on ND's offices as “isolated incidents,” while defending ongoing police raids on central Athens squats as a bid to “safeguard legality in the public sphere.”

On Monday morning, bomb experts were also called to Athens’ main court complex after an anonymous caller warned that a bomb had been placed there. The buildings were evacuated but authorities were unable to find a device. The caller had given a specific time for the blast but no explosion occurred.

The Cry Of "Mana" Hellas

What does the loss of a child do to a parent? To a mother that yearns to hold her son or daughter and is not able to?  To a father that yearns to see his child as an extension of himself and never will?

Contributed To HellasFrappe

How do we define loss?
        noun
"detriment, disadvantage, or deprivation from failure to keep, have, or get".
When a parent loses a child they are at a disadvantage. They are deprived of the happiness that only a child can give. The loss of a child is detrimental to a parents wellbeing just as the loss of a parent is detrimental to a child's wellbeing.

Greece is a parent. For many years and because of external factors she has lost hundreds of thousands of her children and continues to lose them today. How long can a mother survive this injustice?

How is she to bare the pain of continually losing her pride and joy; Her youth; and as a consequence, her future?

I am a mother and a Hellene and I feel her pain.
