In emotionally fraught testimony on Friday, the daughter of former PASOK Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos, Areti Tsochatzopoulos denied any knowledge of her father’s alleged dealings. It should be reiterated that Areti is currently on trial along with another 16 defendants for allegedly helping the ex-PASOK minister of laundering money which he received in kickbacks from state defense contracts.
Areti was questioned repeatedly by the prosecution about whether or not she helped her father hide money by making real estate purchases. Reports said that her attorney objected to the line of questioning and asked the prosecutor if he was asking her to become her father’s accuser.
In her own defence she described how the allegations against her family have affected her personal life, and noted that her children were being badgered at school.
