The 60-year-old Athina Tsakalou, mother of Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos who were convicted for their participation in the Conspiracy of Fire Cells group, has refused her conditional release from remand. It should be reminded that Athina Tsakalou is involved in illegal activities related to a foiled prison escape plan, that involved jailed November 17 terrorist Christodoulos Xiros.

Tsakalou said that is not planning to leave until the 26-year-old partner of her son Gerasimos, who was also detained on similar charges, is also granted a release from remand.

In a letter posted on the (Soros-backed) Indymedia anarchist website, Mrs. Tsakalou said that the Greek justice system “can turn the world in a Kafkaesque hell”, while she also heavily criticized the role of the media.

She then expressed her support for the imprisoned hunger strikers (at the Korydallos prison) and vowed to remain in prison until she can leave with the 26-year-old partner of her son.
