Ten people were slightly injured during a new earthquake to strike the Ionian island of Cephalonia at 5:08 a.m. on Monday morning, measured at 5.7 on the Richter scale, according to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens. The earthquake was felt in several cities on either side of the Corinthhian Gulf and as far as Elia in the northwest Peloponnese.
Dionyssis Markatos, the director of the hospital in the town of Lixouri, told MEGA news on Monday morning that a few island residents were injured by falling objects but luckily after receiving treatment they were all released.
On her part, the Director of the Geodynamic Institute Dimitra Sachpatzi told SKAI Channel (VIDEO below) that the earthquake came from the same epicenter as the Jan. 26 earthquake of 5.8, 12 km from Argostoli. She bited that experts expect more earthquakes to follow -of similar strength- over the next few days.
