Stournaras: Time for Ekali's elite to pay

In an interview to the Sunday edition of "To Vima", Finance Minister Yiannis Stournaras stated that the tax burden for the consistent taxpayer has reached its limits and for this reason he plans to hike taxes on real estate properties with an objective value of over 300,000 Euros.
"It's time for the Ekali landlords to pay," Stournaras said, referring to one of Athens' most expensive suburbs.
Appearing determined to pass a new real estate tax bill, he added that the new bill will also tax a small percentage of farmland owners that own expensive properties, while he also said that the bill will include strict regulations against tax evaders with audits, and other checks.
