This is the kind of news story that generally goes unnoticed, but nonetheless deserves a read. An employee working at the Greek Parliament was fired after failing to turn up for work for some six months! According to a report in the Sunday edition of To Ethnos newspaper the unnamed worker had been reported to a disciplinary council after an unauthorized absence of four months.
The council decided to suspend him from his duties and cancel his pay, and believe it or not the employee turned up at the accounts office and had the audacity to even lodge a complaint.
Thankfully, his appearance at the accounts office led to further action against him, with the disciplinary council finally deciding to fire him after he failed to clock in for six consecutive months, the article in To Ethnos said.
