Relations between Israel and Cyprus do not depend on any political developments, the Speaker of the Knesset Yuli-Yoel Edelstein said after a meeting in Jerusalem with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, pointing out that bilateral ties are to serve the two countries and their people.
President Anastasiades assured the Speaker of the Knesset that Israel can consider Cyprus as its most reliable neighbour.
"It is important for us to welcome the first citizen of the Republic of Cyprus to the Knesset. Your visit places our ties onto another higher level and for us it is a very good indication that - in spite of the fact that we are in a difficult region - some of our neighbours are less difficult than others. I am very happy that we maintain business, cultural, political and diplomatic exchanges," Edelstein said. (CNA)
