Finance Ministry To Forgive 500,000 Citizen Debts of Up to 200 Euros

The Greek Finance Ministry is apparently going to forgive at least 500,000 taxpayers who have minimal tax debts of up to 200 Euros and are unable to pay them. Reports said that the Ministry plans to include provisions for non-collection of minor debts amounting to 200 per borrower in a multi draft bill that will be submitted next week in parliament.

According to a report in ProtoThema, about half a million of the total 2.6 million borrowers owe 200 to 300 Euros each. If these debts get characterized as "uncollectible," the State will just look for other debtors to whom it will exert coercive measures to collect the money they owe (this includes seizures, notices to guarantors and relatives etc).
