It looks like some soldiers will be spending the holidays this year with their loved ones. The Greek Ministry of Defence announced that it completed the withdrawal of its units in Afghanistan. According to a ministry statement, a special battalion has now left Kabul -all its equipment included-. The Greek contingent in Afghanistan started in February 17, 2002 and thank goodness it has now come to an end. The State says that the withdrawal of the contingent is part of the reduction to Greece's military budget and spending. The only officials remaining in Afghanistan, said the statement, are seven officers of the HAF, who are professionally training Afghan pilots on C-27A aircraft, but as soon as their mission is completed they will also come home.
