Indignants Return To Syntagma Square On Sunday

The indignants of Syntagma Square who literally camped out in Athens' most widely known square in 2011 in protest to the then (George) Papandreou government's austerity measures, the Troika and the Memorandums are returning to the square on Sunday, September 23, 2012 in order to protest once again. The protesters believe that all the governments of Greece have betrayed them and base this argument on the current economic crisis.

On Sunday they plan to protest in front of the Greek Parliament to the austerity measures that are set to be announced by the government of Antonis Samaras and that they say equal to 5% of the Greece's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). At the same time they are also going to demonstrate against the sudden surge of the far-right which they call Nazism and any other movement and anti-communist beliefs that are against the communists and radical left ideologies.

Editor's Note - This is why their demonstration today will not be a success. Greek people should not be labelled, and thrown into categories. (right, left, extremist, non-extremist, etc.) When matters of national importance such as our economy are at stake there are no labels involved because it simply affects all of us. The left and the right are ideologies and do not express the economic state of peoples. Leftists are not better democrats or more progressive than someone from the right, and vice versa. These are ridiculous theories and that is why we believe that their protest today will not be a success at all.
