Sassoon (17 January 1928 – 9 May 2012) was an English hairdresser, and credited with creating geometric, "Bauhaus-inspired" hair styles, otherwise know as the "bob". Sassoon might have been born in Hammersmith, London from Jewish parents, but his mother, Betty (Bellin), came from a family of immigrants from Ukraine, and his father, Nathan Sassoon, was a prominent member of the Jewish community in Thessaloniki, Greece.
