Greek Travel Agents Sound Alarm On Tourism

The Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies (HATTA) underlined that since Monday, May 7, (the day after the elections) international media have been focusing on Greece describing a picture of chaos and disintegration. In a letter addressed to the political party leaders HATTA suggested, among other things, that Greece's partners and the international public opinion will have to be assured that "the country is democratic, European, stable and absolutely safe". "Misinformation and talk about various dangers dominate," the letter underlined, "bookings are frozen by international tourist organisations, which pull their associates out of the country. Payments or deposits are not being made due to fear of possible cancellations and because of the rumored return of our country to the drachma."
