Turkish Consulate in Komotini Thinks It Rules In Thrace (MUST WATCH VIDEO)

The efforts of the Ambassador at the Turkish Consulate in Komotini to impact the parliamentary process in Greece last week by saying that a recent provision that was adopted by the Greek Parliament was unacceptable - because he more or less rules in Thrace- might of prompted the angry reaction of the Greek Foreign Ministry, but it has also had a positive impact since the subject of Thrace has finally been opened. The provision which was adopted by Parliament concerns the teaching of the Quran in public schools -in the Greek language- where Muslim minority students are enrolled.

Ankara does not find this acceptable because at the moment it apparently operates secondary schools that supposedly teach the Quran, but in the Turkish language thereby creating a false feeling of ethnicity to the Greek Muslim minority there. Basically, Turkey's "workers" in Thrace are urging Greek Muslims to send their children to minority-only schools (not bilingual public schools), so as not to lose their religious and national identity, and to further the reach of Islamic Turkish identity.

The Pomak community in the region is a prime example. At present they are under a lot of pressure from the Consulate's workers (spread all over Thrace) to deny their identity and embrace the Turkish identity. They are constantly being told that their language is a "dialect" and not a language and that their true identity is Turkish. This of course is absurd because the Pomak people are descended from Bulgaria. The Roma people are another example and have also been targeted by the Turkish consulate.

The Greek government only knows this too well. Indeed, many mistakes have been made in the past in this region, but the State is now willing to take initiatives with the aim of getting the situation under control.

Now that the Bill has passed, the recruitment process will proceed as follows: (and not as the Turkish press has presented it).

The Ministry of Education will set up a five member committee to select the Imams. Its members will comprise of 1) a mufti, 2) an employee of the Ministry of Education, 3) a faculty member with expertise in Islamic studies, 4) a Muslim theologian who will be appointed by the Ministry of Education and 5) another Muslim theologian who be appointed by the mufti.

Those selected will sign a contract for nine of nine months with the Ministry of Education so that the phenomenon that was caused by Law 3536/2007, when the mufti of Komotini refused to sign the contracts of Imams - after pressure from the Turkish Consulate, is not repeated.

Over the past fifty years, Turkey has given incredible power to its Consulate in Komotini. In return the Consulate has acted as a state within a state -with the incomprehensible tolerance of Greek authorities- and it has successfully managed to create a powerful and well-supported network that literally Turkifies Pomaks and Roma peoples. At the same time it also creates the right conditions that might allow Turkey to one day attempt to claim all of -or part of- the energy reserves in the Northern Aegean (especially the Babouris deposit, etc.) depending of course on the developments and/or the reaction of Greece. Ankara's ultimate goal of course is to get control of the Bourgas-Alexandroupolis pipeline, if it is ever actually constructed and put into operation.

At the same time, Ankara aims to use the Muslim minority in this area so that it can have the last word in the eastern area of this region (around the Nestos River). But most importantly so that it can finally achieve a continuous and sharp line in the center of the Aegean.

The talk show posted above and titled "Who Runs The Show In Thrace" features this very subject. It was broadcasted on Saturday night on Kontra Channel and is a wonderful panel discussion that analyzes the current situation in Thrace. There are only two points we want to make about the discussion. One, we are glad that the conservative New Democracy government is taking on initiatives that respect religious freedom but at the same time do not advocate for "Turkish ethnicity" and two we are saddened that the two participants at the discussion (from SYRIZA and from DIMAR) are not supporting the New Democracy party on this, and are more "Turk friendly".

Immigrants Stage Rally in Athens To Protest Death Of Fellow Countryman

Hundreds of demonstrators on Saturday paraded the coffin in central Athens of a Pakistani immigrant who was stabbed earlier last week. Over exaggerated scenes of praying and opening the casket to show the face of the deceased followed (which incidentally were highly noted by some international press agents who were coincidentally there to take many photos). The immigrants, most of whom entered Greece illegally, together with (Soros funded) human rights activists (mostly from the Left) later gathered in Omonia square, to demonstrate against racism, holding banners reading "Neo-Nazis out" and "Punishment for the fascist murderers of Shehzad Luqman".

The Pakistani man was stabbed to death by two unknown men on a motorcycle, this could have been anyone and has nothing to do with the nationalist party.

Javied Aslam, who is the head of the Pakistani Community organization, and who has already been accused by Interpol for human trafficking -bringing Pakistanis into Greece- might have been too quick to say that this was a protest aimed to send a message to the government "to take measures to stop racist attacks,"

And there are many reasons why we believe this.

Our Opinion

We here at HellasFrappe are fed up with this show of extreme behavior! In their determination to pin this crime on the Golden Dawn party, and give the world the impression that all Greeks are racists, extreme leftist parties in Greece are encouraging (shady) members of the migrant community to leave the impression that the death of this immigrant was on account of a political party. Murder is murder, and condemned by all, and the Greek left is not the only force blessed with wanting peace within the community. On the contrary we would say, they are always on the front lines at riots and violent protests.

Anyone in their right mind advocates for peace, and certainly cannot salute an unwanted murder. Why protest for that?

Have you seen protests from the THOUSANDS of Greek families who till this day are mourning for the loss of their loved ones on account of racist -as the left puts it- attacks?

Did you see the same sentiment by the left after a 15 year old girl was raped and her head smashed to pieces by a Pakistani national?

We didn't!

The Left should know better.

HellasFrappe wrote this on its FB page and it will repeat it once again. If everything in this country is blamed on one side or the other then peace will never come.Facism has no color, no political ideology and is spread all the way to left and right. If we adopt the message that the protest wanted to send then we can say that the leftist MPs and political parties who defended several members of the notorious November 17 organization should be totally stigmatized and called fascists for exercising their democratic right to do so. Also, if we adopt this type of ideology then we can safely assume that all of those who advocate for the free entrance of illegal immigrants into Greece -and most leftists do- are either slave traffickers, organ traffickers, and/or generally support human trafficking. Crimes which can only be described as inhumane!

So can someone explain to us what were they exactly protesting about... ? For racism, or for the death of their fellow countryman? Or were they protesting just for the sake of protesting? Or is there something else? We believe that it is something else.

And the reason we say this is because the individual who spoke about "racism" is a man who has been charged by Interpol for human trafficking ! Who is supporting and protecting him and would benefit if Greece's political system is destabilized? We here at HellasFrappe can only think of ANTARSIA and to a lesser degree SYRIZA. They have never hidden their support to characters such as Javied Aslam.

Basically we smell a rat. These people knew that the cameras would be there and that they would be rolling. So why do we question their motives so much? Simple... They already had the banners and posters made ahead of time for the event. In normal circumstances it takes days to organize so many banners and posters. Also, if you look at the photos that were snapped on Saturday then you will also notice that half the information on the banners is written in English. So this obviously means that these immigrants are being guided by other groups because most of them do not know how to speak Greek, let along English.

This also proves that this was not a spontaneous protest to mourn the death of a countryman, but something else -a possible destabilization of Greece-?

We believe that some hotheads want to use various ethnic communities to cause chaos in Greece. And two... We believe that the Greek police is probably doing a very good job about cracking down on illegal immigration and human trafficking, because every time the far left complains about the Golden Dawn party, they are really protesting about law and order, hence the Greek police.

Archeologists Unearth 300 Clay Figures At Neolithic Site

Archaeologists from the University of Southampton (England) studying a Neolithic archaeological site in central Greece have helped unearth over 300 clay figurines, one of the highest density for such finds in south-eastern Europe. The Southampton team, working in collaboration with the Greek Archaeological Service and the British School at Athens, is studying the site of Koutroulou Magoula near the Greek village of Neo Monastiri, around 160 miles from Athens.

Koutroulou Magoula was occupied during the Middle Neolithic period (c. 5800 - 5300 BCE) by a community of a few hundred people who made architecturally sophisticated houses from stone and mud-bricks. The figurines were found all over the site, with some located on wall foundations. It's believed the purpose of figurines was not only as aesthetic art, but also to convey and reflect ideas about a community's culture, society and identity.

"Figurines were thought to typically depict the female form, but our find is not only extraordinary in terms of quantity, but also quite diverse - male, female and non-gender specific ones have been found and several depict a hybrid human-bird figure," says Professor Yannis Hamilakis, Co-Director of the Koutroulou Magoula Archaeology and Archaeological Ethnography project.

The site consists of a mound up to 18 feet high featuring at least three terraces surrounded by ditches. The people who lived in the settlement appear to have rebuilt their homes on the same building footprint generation after generation, and there is also evidence that some of the houses were unusual in their construction.

Professor Hamilakis comments, "This type of home would normally have stone foundations with mud-bricks on top, but our investigations have found some preserved with stone walls up to a metre in height, suggesting that the walls may have been built entirely of stone, something not typical of the period. The people would have been farmers who kept domestic animals, used flint or obsidian tools and had connections with settlements in the nearby area. The construction of parts of the settlement suggests they worked communally, for example, to construct the concentric ditches surrounding their homes.

In later centuries, the settlement mount became an important memory place. For example, at the end of the Bronze Age, a 'tholos' or beehive-shaped tomb was constructed at the top and in Medieval times (12-13th c. CE) at least one person (a young woman) was buried amongst the Neolithic houses.

BREAKING NEWS - Explosion At "The Mall" In Maroussi - Two Injured

A bomb exploded at 10:50  a.m. inside "The Mall" shopping center, which is located in the northern Athens suburb of Maroussi on Sunday morning, causing light damages and injuring two security guards. According to initial reports, the blast occurred at the first level of the shopping center where there are several shops and a bank.

Reports claim that at 9:55 am an unidentified caller telephoned the Eleftherotypia newspaper and said that a bomb was going to explode in 50 minutes, and three minutes later a second call followed 9:58 to the website zougla.gr.  The caller did not mention any organization but apparently left it to be understood that those responsible for the explosion would later claim responsibility.

Following the warnings, the Greek police began evacuating the shopping center (it usually operates on Sunday's). But the explosion occurred during the evacuation. Luckily most of the shoppers had exited the building and only policemen and security guards were left inside.

Police authorities claim that the explosive device was not that powerful, but they are nonetheless concerned.

Since the blast, police have blocked access to the area and currently conducting a thorough investigation. For security reasons authorities have also shut down access to the “Neratziotissa” train station as well as the trains that run from Piraeus to Peace and Friendship station.

The government is very concerned over the attack, and from what we learn Minister of Citizen Protection Nikos Dendias is in constant communication with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

BREAKING NEWS - Bulgarian Politician Failed Assassination Attempt (VIDEO)

Ahmed Dogan, founder and leader of the Bulgarian ethnic Turkish party DPS (Movement for Rights and Freedoms), resigned his post as party chairman four hours after an attempt was made on his life. With his resignation, Ahmed Dogan nominated his deputy Lyutvi Mestan as party leader.

Dogan was reading his long-anticipated report to the 8th DPS party conference at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia at about 12:30 pm on Saturday when a 25-year-old man from Burgas, Oktay Enimehmedov, pointed a gas handgun at his face but failed to produce a shot.

Ahmed Dogan survived intact but the conference was terminated for four hours.

Dogan showed up on the floor of the conference shortly after 4:30 pm local time, smiling and in good health, and his report was read from the conference floor on his behalf. At the end of the report, Dogan's resignation was announced; it had been rumored as incoming in the past couple of days before the DPS conference, and is said to not have been caused by the attempt on the ethnic Turkish leader's life.

Henkel Returns - Int'l Companies Moving Back To Greece

Moves by international companies are increasingly pointing to greater trust in the Greek economy, with Henkel, one of the world’s top detergent manufacturers, investing in Greece. Henkel has returned to Greece in the production of detergents. According to "Kathimerini" newspaper Rolco-Vianil, one of the country’s oldest enterprises in the sector, is now manufacturing products for Henkel, destined mostly to cover the needs of the local market. However the possibility of exports has not been ruled out.

Henkel’s new cooperation with a Greek firm holds particular significance for the local economy as it illustrates that despite previous problems in this country, the German company still believes it is worth investing here. Henkel had a plant in central Greece until 2000, after which it embarked on a cooperation with Alapis, owned by Lavrentis Lavrentiadis, who is now in custody on embezzlement charges. Henkel’s Dixan, Neomat and Persil brands are popular in Greece.

According to recent reports of China Daily, COSCO the country΄s largest State-owned shipping conglomerate, is considering acquiring a 60 percent stake in Greece΄s largest port, which is at Piraeus.

The amount of the deal could reach 1 billion euros ($1.33 billion), according to a Reuters report, which said that COSCO plans to present the investment proposal after Athens decides what procedures it will follow on the privatization of its two largest ports in Piraeus and Thessaloniki.

Greek Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras, during a speech on television on Monday, said the Chinese group had "shown an interest" in increasing its investment in Piraeus. He did not disclose further details, Reuters said.

COSCO declined to comment on the matter.

The company has already made a substantial investment in the Piraeus port. It spent 4.3 billion euros on a 35-year management lease for the No 2 and No 3 piers, which it has been operating since June 2010.

COSCO also announced investment plans to improve port facilities, build a new pier and almost triple the volume of cargo the port can handle. captial

Greek Police Cracks Down On Illegal Migrant Trafficking

The Greek police is really cracking down on illegal migrant trafficking. In the month of December alone a total of 1,041 illegal immigrants were arrested in Greece and deported back to their countries of origin as part of the ongoing campaign to crack down on illegal immigration. Approximately 6,012 illegal immigrants have been repatriated since August.

Zoom to January and this past week, police announced that they successfully dismantled a human trafficking ring, that was apparently bringing illegal immigrants into Greece from Turkey, and at the same time helping others leave Greece to other countries in the EU. With the help of the Greek Coast Guard, and following a four month investigation, police officials arrested 14 people in the area of Attica and Rhodes, including the ringleader, while at least 14 arrests have been issued through Interpol for the other members suspected of being in Turkey, Belgium and Germany. A yacht and speedboat, used in the illegal transports, were also confiscated.

In northern Greece, three Romanian nationals were arrested on after the Greek police discovered a total of 19 illegal migrants (6 Afghans, 6 Eritreans, 5 Syrians and 2 Iraqis) hidden in their truck. The police were performing a routine patrol check at the Dikeon intersection, in the prefecture of Evros (in northern Greece) when they made the discovery. The Romanians, aged 41 and 60 respectively, were immediately arrested. A 37-year-old Romanian, driver of a leading car who acted as a scout, was also arrested. Last week, two Iranian smugglers were apparently also arrested in Evros along with 13 more illegal immigrants. The Iranians, aged 29 and 35, were intercepted as they were disembarking from plastic rowboats on the banks of the Evros River along with six compatriots, five Syrians and two Eritrean nationals.

In Crete, Coast Guard officials detained 78 illegal immigrants on the small islet of Elafonisi, off the island's southeastern coast. They were apparently spotted by a local fishermen, who told officials that the illegal immigrants had been planning to travel to Italy. They were taken to the premises of the old city hall in Souda Bay, Chania, where they were to remain until authorities decide whether to deport them.

Asteroid Apophis Update: No Impact, but a Call to Action

Right now, a 70-meter antenna in Southern California, NASA’s Goldstone antenna, is sending radio signals 15 million kilometers into deep space, aimed at a target only about 325 meters across, the asteroid Apophis. Bouncing back to us, these radio signals are providing crucial information about this rude invader of our solar neighborhood.

For years the question has been, where exactly will this asteroid, first discovered in 2004, be in 2029 and in 2036, the years when it will pass so close to the Earth that impacts have been considered a possibility? Apophis’s current flyby in the month of January, 2013 may give us with some answers. The “pinging” of Apophis by NASA’s Goldstone antenna is helping to provide a more accurate understanding of its orbit.

These measurements, along with observations from optical telescopes on the ground, and an infrared telescope in space, have led the manager of NASA’s Near-Earth Object Program Office, Don Yeomans, to downgrade the chance of a 2036 impact to less than one in a million. It now seems that it will just pass extremely close, between the Earth and our geosynchronous satellites, on April 13, 2029. But that 2029 pass will alter the orbit of Apophis, and the concern was that this alternation might set it up for an impact in 2036. The Russian Academy of Sciences has also proposed landing a tracking device on Apophis in 2020, in order to understand its orbit even more precisely as it approaches its 2029 close pass.

This is a very important development, as an impact would release well over 4,000 times more energy than the largest thermonuclear bomb ever detonated, causing immediate devastation on the scale of a small continent or a big country. In fact we have only discovered about 1.5% of the total  estimated total population of near-Earth asteroids, ranging from the large planet killers to the small objects that could eliminate any large city (such as the size of the Tunguska impact in 1908).

Now that the direct threat looks to be minimal (at least for the next few decades), this should stand as a clear warning, and signal an imperative to develop the capabilities to handle these types of threats before they occur. Russian government officials, for example, have made repeated offers for joint cooperation with the United States to tackle this challenge, which Washington has not answered.

In October of 2011, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Rogozin (Russia ambassador to NATO at the time) called for such an approach under the name of the “Strategic Defense of Earth”, which would involve joint efforts to ward off dangers not only from ballistic missiles, but also from space, such as comets and asteroids. The Russians posited this as a direct alternative to the U.S./NATO installing missile defense systems at Russia’s boarders.

The Lies Of Democracy and the Language Of Deceit

In an increasingly media-driven age, language is everything and is often used by officialdom to tyrannise meaning. With the deaths of millions on its hands since 1945, the US has become the world’s number one terror state. By the 1980s, former CIA man John Stockwell had put the figure at six million. As a recent article has indicated, from mass bombing in Southeast Asia to employing death squads in South America, the US military and the CIA have been directly and indirectly responsible for an updated figure of an estimated ten million deaths (1). But it’s not called mass murder these days. Ironically, the US has hijacked the word ‘terror’ to justify its brand of tyranny through a war on terror.

You can also add to that ten million, countless others whose lives have been sacrificed on the altar of corporate profit, which did not rely on the military to bomb peoples and countries into submission, but on a certain policy. It’s not browbeating. It’s structural adjustment.

As a result, hundreds of thousands of Indian farmers have taken their own lives over the past decade and a half largely as a result of US agribusiness manipulating global commodity prices courtesy of policies enacted on its behalf by the US government or due to the corporate monopoly, or frontier technology, of terminator seeds that also landed farmers in debt which was just too much for them to bear (2).

The plight of Indian farmers is not unique. How many lives have been cut short across the world because of the inherent structural violence or silent killing of the everyday seemingly benign functioning of predatory capitalism? The built-in inequalities of the system have effectively stolen years from people’s lives, the health from their bodies, the livelihoods from their hands, the water from their taps and food from their plates. From the UK to Africa, the subjugated classes – the now often discarded economic fodder, the cannon fodder during times of war or the returning heroes to be thrown overboard by the system on coming home, the people who are to be manipulated and exploited at will via bogus notions of nationalism or the national interest – have had their lives cut short or stripped bare of opportunities due to the hardships imposed by the iron fist of capitalism (3).

The appropriation of wealth through a system that funnels it from bottom to top via a process of accumulation by dispossession (4) is celebrated as growth, prosperity, and freedom of choice, despite evidence that, from Greece to Spain, the reality for the majority has been increasing poverty, the stripping away of choice and misery.

You wouldn’t know much about this if you just used the mainstream media for information, though. Sure, you may have been told to tighten your belt because we are all in it together and must make some sacrifices in these difficult economic times.

And just for good measure, as much of the country (any country) is thrown onto the scraphead because it is surplus to requirements now that their jobs have been outsourced abroad, we simply must attack Mali, Syria, Libya, Iran (the list goes on) because not to do so would let the evil-doers take over the world. And then where would we be without such high-minded notions? It’s not resource plunder. It’s humanitarianism.

Well, we would be precisely where we are right now because the evil-doers are already in control and waging war not only on the people of those countries just mentioned, but on the people within their own countries too via the tools of surveillance, the penal system, the comotosing effects of spymaster imported illegal drugs or the infotainment industry and the barrage of legislation that is serving to strip away civil liberties. The game is up, the dominant Western economy (the US) is broken beyond repair (5). Imperialism and militarism won’t save it, but dissent won’t be allowed.

And as private bankers entrap us all even further via their licence to print and loan currencies to national governments then also loan them the interest on it that spirals out of hand so it can never be paid back (6), they are able to line their pockets even further by buying up national assets on the cheap from the countries they bankrupted in the first place. It’s not racketeering. It’s austerity.

And where is the mainstream media in all of this? Where are those journalists whose claim to respectability is their rigid professionalism, their accountability, their objectivity? If you can call professionalism, accountability and objectivity being in the pocket of and not wishing to offend advertising interests, officialdom, lobbyists or corporate think tanks then they are paragons of absolute virtue!

Peddling their high salaried lies, they have failed and continue to fail the public. By shining their dim ‘investigative’ light on ‘parliamentary procedures’, personalities, the rubber stamping of policies and the inane machinations of party politics, they merely serve to maintain and perpetuate the status quo and keep the public in the dark as to the unaccountable self-serving power broking and unity of interests that enable Big Oil, Big Banking, Big Pharma, Big Agra and the rest of them to keep bleeding us all dry.

Looking back to the BBC’s reporting of the NATO bombing of Libya provides quite revealing insight into the mainstream media. The coverage was disgracefully one-sided. Is the public to pay for a ‘public service’ broadcaster in order to be misled and for it to secure our compliance for illegal state-corporate policies? There was little analysis of ‘mission’ drift’ or of where the insurgents where getting their arms from despite a UN-sanctioned arms embargo. Much less of NATO’s moral right to bomb a path into Tripoli. No talk there of what University of Johannesburg professor Chris Landsberg said was NATO’s violation of international law or of the 200 prominent African figures who accused western nations of subverting international law.

On the other hand, though, what we are served courtesy of the mainstream media each time Britain decides to wage war is a tasty dish of nationalistic sentiment and the old colonial mentality of ‘our boys’ going out ‘there’ to help civilise the barbarians.

But that’s the role of the media: to help reinforce and reproduce the material conditions of an exploitative and divisive social system on a daily basis. It’s called having a compliant, toothless media. It’s liberal democracy. That’s the role not only of the media, but the education system and the political system too.

And that’s why former British PM was some years ago told by his financial masters to sell of what was laughingly regarded as ‘the nation’s gold’ at a knock down price on behalf of bankers’ (not the nation’s) interests without being held up to genuine public scrutiny. Some say that was the first ‘bail out’ (7). That’s why taxpayers’ money, unbeknown to most of the taxpayers, is being used unaccountably and undemocratically to help prop up banks and to topple various countries and bring death and destruction to thousands via ‘covert ops’. Covert – hidden from the public who remain blissfully unaware of where their hard earned dollars, pounds or euros are actually going.

That’s why the state-corporate fraudsters, murderers and liars who wrap themselves in the language of freedom and democracy have been getting away with it for so long. Sadly, that’s why they continue to do so.

IMF Wants Dismissals in Public Sector

The International Monetary Fund is openly demanding for targetted dismissals in the public sector and further cuts in social benefits (such as unemployment benefit, supplementary pension, child benefits, etc), but at the same the IMF emphatically demands a fundamental tackling of tax evasion warning that instead there will be new cuts in wages and pensions.

In its report on the Greek economy, published on Friday, the IMF also asks for extending a solidarity tax surcharge beyond 2014, accelerating a privatization program –even with replacing the management of Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund with foreign managers if the fund failed to achieve its targets for the first half of 2013.

The IMF sounded pessimistic over unemployment trends –expected to rise to 24.4 pct in 2013 and to 25.1 pct in 2014, while it also insisted on its position for a new haircut of the Greek debt held by the official sector in Europe.

At the same time, the IMF openly tangles in the Greek political scene, suggesting that increasing support for SYRIZA and other counter-memorandum parties could lead not only to delays in implementing the program but a political crisis in the country, triggering a default and/or an exit from the euro. The Washington-based fund, however, is making some self-criticism, saying that another risk for the program was a failure in meeting its analysts' calculations over the impact of austerity in economic recession in the country. MEGA BOMB - Indictment for Espionage Against Venizelos!

Evangelos Venizelos' confession in Parliament on Thursday night, not only caused a buzz in the blog sphere on Friday, but it also prompted a citizen in Halkida to file a formal lawsuit against the leader of PASOK on charges of espionage!  HellsaFrappe has hardly edited the lawsuit, and this is because it is a legal document and we cannot reword it, it must be presented as is, - unless of course an English copy is published. Nonetheless we did our best so that it can be more readable and we apologize to Mr. Antoniou if we did not get it 100 percent right..

The text of the complaint is as follows:

Complaint

AGAINST

1) Evangelos Venizelos for complicity and abetting (KP 14, 26, 27, 45, 46 paragraph 1) in violation of the State Intelligence (MP 146, 147) (see Paragraph 2 below) and Espionage (KP 148, 149 par) and Harbouring Criminals (CC 231) and concealment of crime see below paragraph 3, 4).

2) always responsible, on whose fault the secret documents leaked and fell and remained in private possession and power of Evangelos Venizelos, after the expiration of his term as minister of defense, namely Violation of State Secret (KP 14, 26, 27 , 146, 147) and abetting and complicity in Espionage (PC 148) (see paragraph 1 above).

3) those responsible for defense journals that -in accordance with Evangelos Venizelos- hold "defense information secret, apparently, for crimes that may arise from the trial process.

4) the "other ministers" that according to Evangelos Venizelos hold "confidential defense and other classified (information) of Greece."

On 17 January 2013, during the debate in the Greek Parliament on the proposal for conducting preliminary investigation against the tampering and poor management of the "Lagarde List", cat art. 86 Abbr. and n.3126/2003 'on the liability of ministers", Evangelos Venizelos, MP and President of PASOK confessed this incredible revelation.

"Did (you think I would not hold) a digital copy of the defense plans of the country from my run at the Ministry of Defense, of course I do... is it possible for me not to have them?'.

I would like to reiterate that Evangelos Venizelos was defense minister from 2009-2011.

From his seat in Parliament, and in response to the objections from the main opposition SYRIZA party on the legality of possession of the private archive of classified defense secrets, Evangelos Venizelos stated the following even now that it is not defense minister:

"I possess copies of the Defense Doctrine of the country, of which I edited with my own hands" ... "I possess atypical and conventional digital copies of my tenure at the Ministry of Defence ... Of course, of course .... was it possible for me not to have them? ... Journals, digital or conventional, with defensive issues and if you open them, you will find much more information than what the current defense minister has... !"

Addressing the Opposition, in his second intervention Venizelos also added: "Such (defense and others) classified (information) (are held) by other ministers in the same way that I do ... which minister doesn't?".

Evangelos Venizelos therefore must disclose before the Prosecutor the names of these other ministers, under penalty, for refusal, additional prosecutions against him.

Addressing the Opposition, and with a provocative satirical ironic tone, style and moves,  Evangelos Venizelos concluded the above remarks (by stating): "I can assure you that the country's defence shield and the confidentiality of Defence Information was not affected."

His provocative ironic style, cancels honesty, truth and the affirmative form of his declaration above. Simultaneously, the important thing is that the claim was-the-above subject is controversial events, as illegal and during 'confession, held in a private and secret power of classified defense secrets and plans of the country than this' itself, makes the "violation of confidentiality of defense information", which indeed asserted fact.

The contradictory nature of the allegations, the apparent state of panic which was at a degree of disarray over his thoughts, betrayed a panicky guilty felon, in a state of mental collapse under the weight of the revelation of his crimes against the country and the nation.

From the above it is therefore concluded that Evangelos Venizelos holds, even now, that he is not defense minister, personal records, for the absolute personal sovereignty of his own use, classified secret defense plans of the country and and the defense  doctrine map (of Greece).

Under these conditions, and with the complicity of those responsible for their safekeeping, the possession of classified defense information by Ev. Venizelos constitutes grave crimes:

Venizelos are constant and flagrant felonies ("possession" of classified defense information), it is prosecuted under the current Members of Parliament, in accordance with Articles Abbr. 62. For this reason a Flagrant process must be activated immediately against him.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Gregory Delavekouras stated the following in response to questions regarding a Turkish Foreign Ministry announcement on the legislative regulation of issues concerning Muslim preachers in Thrace:

“The Turkish Foreign Ministry announcement on an initiative that regulates issues concerning the status of Muslim preachers in Thrace in a manner that is positive for the Muslim minority itself – in light of information that has come out regarding the efforts of the Turkish Consulate in Komotini to impact the parliamentary process in Greece – is not consistent with the stated will of both countries to work to improve bilateral relations.

This announcement is another of the Turkish side’s familiar attempts to distort the reality of the Greek state’s treatment of the Muslim minority. It is a failed attempt, given that Greece – and Thrace, specifically – is a model of harmonious coexistence of citizens of different faiths, with one of the highest levels of protection of and respect for religious rights.

Greece is carefully monitoring the steps Turkey is taking to approach European standards in the sector of human and minority rights, which for Greece, as for the rest of the EU member states, are a given. And this is an important parameter for Turkey’s accession course, which, as is well known, Greece supports.

Information regarding the legislative regulation:

• The new provisions remedy weaknesses that the minority itself identified in the previous draft law.
• For the first time, provision is made for the teaching of the Quran in public schools in Thrace in which Muslim minority students are enrolled.
• This initiative is part of the serious efforts Greece is making towards the religious and intellectual nurturing of our Muslim minority fellow citizens.
• The potential for Muslim clergy, should they so wish, to attain public functionary status constitutes an upgrading.
• Greece proves daily and by its actions its full respect for the religious freedom of the Muslim minority, in total compliance with all international obligations and standards.

Outrage Over Venizelos Confession - "I Hold Copy Of Greece's Defence Map" At Home

In a panic to justify why he kept a memory stick at his office in regards to the Lagarde List, PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos opened a can of worms on Thursday night that is not only HUGE but also dangerous for Greece's national security. The subject might of escaped the mainstream media, or maybe they ignored it altogether, but on Friday it dominated the Greek blog sphere.

"SYRIZA says that I (purposely) concealed the (Lagarde) list. From whom? From SDOE who had it (or the Greek Financial Crimes Squad)? What list? The informal digital copy?" said Venizelos and then came the WHOPPER "as if I don't have digital copies of Greece's defense plans from my run at the Ministry of Defence? Certainly I do. How do you think I went to NATO? Don't I have a copy of the defensive doctrine suggested in KYSEA (Greek Armed Forces)? Don't I take confidential information from the Foreign Ministry? So why would an informal digital copy of a (bank) list be among all the above which is being investigated by the Financial Crime?"

This INCREDIBLE and SHOCKING confession might have immediately been exploited by the leader of the SYRIZA party Alexis Tsipras, in order to impress the cameras -and hence his voters-, but in all reality it threatens national security and is a direct infringement of basic national safety standards. As viewed in the video above, Venizelos' statements sparked outrage from many parliamentarians, while SYRIZA is now calling for the intervention of the Prosecution.

Let us repeat, Venizelos confessed that he holds copies of Greece's defense map at his home which he of course said was "borrowed". How the hell do you "borrow" classified national defense plans and keep them at your home?

This is categorically prohibited by law. No one is allowed to remove classified documents from their natural space, especially Greece's defence map! And when we talk about documents relating to the defense plans of the country, we suspect -since he mentioned NATO- that these are not simple documents that are classified as being "secret" or "top secret", but documents that have a stricter classification codes such as those of NATO.

Doesn't he realize that it is against the law to remove such documents out of the Ministry of Defense? Doesn't he know that there is a specific series of security checks on people who have access to such confidential information so that it cannot be leaked?

Who does this man think he is?

He is totally incompetent and he totally ridiculed himself!

"He keeps copies of critical issues for the operation of the country's defense plans in his office" asked Tsipras. What "really bothers me is not the fact that he admitted that he has copies of (Greece's) defense map but when he said this members of the Parliament (or his party) clapped ... ".

Although we are very critical of SYRIZA, we tend to agree with Tsipras' point. The members of his party clapped when he said this? Have they all gone mad? This was a shocking confession and it kind of makes us wonder, is everyone in his party, and when we say everyone... we mean everyone, that incompetent? Hate to break it to them, but we are afraid that it will have grave repercussions on the PASOK leader.

By admitting that he holds such documents in his possession, Venizelos has directly violated a series of military intelligence and correspondence regulations. Classified documents must remain at the department and cannot leave the Greek Pentagon. Appointed Ministers are permitted to have access to them, but once their term as head of the Ministry is over they must be returned to the relevant departments. Besides, who in their right mind would leave a building -especially the Greek Pentagon- with such documents to begin with and then publicly confess to it as if it was nothing!

Realizing the magnitude of what was said, the PASOK party on Friday attempted to downplay Venizelos' statements, by issuing a statement claiming that Venizelos was being "humorous". At the same time the party suggested that the SYRIZA take a break before they begin attacking the socialists -and Venizelos- again.

"The Ministry of Defence should not be concerned. All the correspondence from the General Staff (and other authorities) with the political leadership is being conducted according to specified regulations."

If this was a nation that respected its citizens, its army and most importantly its reputation, then a prosecutor would intervene right away after his statement to see if this was joke or not.

Our opinion?

Simple... Venizelos is incompetent. He must step down from his post immediately if he still has some decency, and allow someone else to take over in his party, because quite frankly he is a hazard for national security and is doing more harm than good to his party. George Papandreou was indeed worse, but Venizelos is definitely just as loathing. Aside from violating two articles in the Greek constitution (Articles 146 and 147 of the Penal Code - on issues of classified information), it is expected that authorities will also launch a massive investigation to see whether or not foreign interests were able to gain access to this information and on top of this, Greece's defence map must change right away with the hope that this time, all information will remain at its natural space.

We are not legal experts here at HellasFrappe, and do not know what is going to follow, but coming back the next day and saying that you were being humorous is really not going to cut it. The reactions to this are beyond HUGE and have caused a wave of negative reactions on the social networks and the blog sphere. What bothers us the most from this shocking confession is that he basically went by the philosophy -why shouldn't I take them-.

FINALLY - Rigs Ready For Hydrocarbons in Ionian!

The government is working on overdrive, and from what we learn it is going to soon announce an open door competition that will allow potential investors interested in oil exploration and exploitation in the areas of Ioannina, Patras and Katakolon to strike up their bids.

The process will kick off the future production of hydrocarbons in Greece (following 20 years of complete idleness) and hopefully allow Greece to begin building its way back to development. This is because of two basic reasons: The specific areas might not have the promise of being huge petrol production areas, but nonetheless they bring investor interest with them, create jobs and hence funds for the State. Secondly, the Greek State will slowly begin building its (damaged) image on the international market and in the long-term this will attract possible investors (especially bigger players) in other State privatizations and/or ventures.

A report on defencenet, quoting sources from the Environment Ministry, claimed on Friday that the competition is in its final stage of being developed and officials should be making the relevant announcements within the next two or three weeks.

Following this, a competent 17-member committee will take over and select the bids that meet all the terms and conditions outlined in the competition. After this is completed, the Prime Minister will be briefed, as will the members of the Greek Parliament. It is important to note that the conservative government has maintained from day one that its main goal is complete transparency -at every cost- on such ventures and it is planning to make good on its promise.

The groups vying for the areas noted above already include:

• The consortium of Greek Petroleum, the Italian Edison and the Scottish Melrose company (which has an interest in Patras and Ioannina)
• The Consortia of Energean Oil & Gas (which has successfully already managed active production in Greece in Prino) with Schlumberger, Petra Petroleum (Epirus) and Trajan Oil (Patraikos, Katakolon)
• The Chariot Oil company (Ioannina) which is based in the UK and conducts research activities in Africa
• The Canadian companies Arctic Hunter company KO Enterprises (for Ioannina)
• And Grekoil Energy Ventures (for Katakolon) which is a subsidiary of the Cypriot Comtrack company.

The criteria by which the State will assess bids is based on the technical and financial capacity of the companies. At the same time, the State will examine their experience, the investment projects entailed and how many positions of employment will be generated, as well as their experience in research and research management, production etc.

Talk About Audacity - Papandreou To Address Speculator Conference

George Papandreou, who only drops by Greece when the sh**t hits the fan, or when he has to vote on something, is apparently going to be a speaker at a "speculator" conference that is set to be held for the big players of the hedge fund market. Yes... This man, (who still insists that he has no business with the clan of Soros, or with hedge fund scum) is going to stand alongside some pretty big names in the market.

It kind of makes one wonder. He has insisted that he never knew what a CDS was, or what the hedge fund market is, and has slammed the accusations that his brother was affiliated with a company that advised hedge fund investors... Then why the hell would he appear alongside a group of men who stopped betting on corporations and are now playing with the fate of nations?

If it quacks like a duck, and walks like a duck... It's a damn DUCK!

The conference will be held in Las Vegas,at the famous Bellagio hotel, and from what we learn Papandreou is going to be surrounded by very big names in the hedge funds market. The same market that managed to make a lot of money from driving Greece to economic turmoil. First off is Daniel Loeb of Third Point, who managed to make some $500 million from Greek bonds alone. Other (mboumboukia) speakers include Nouriel Roubini (George Soros' buddy in crime) and (surprise, surprise) Nicolas Sarkozy.

We do not know the topic of his speech, but we bet our bottom dollar that it is affiliated with the conference. The audacity of this man to even agree to appear alongside these people. They should not be allowed to speak at public events, in our opinion they should be behind bars.

Who in their right mind would pay hard earned money to even go see them? Our guess is that the only ones that would are those few who do not know when enough is enough, who do not care that their casino market games destroy nations and millions of people and those who have literally sold their souls to the almighty green dollar.

Shame on all of them, and shame on Papandreou for even accepting to appear alongside these men.

But then again, we are not surprised. This is the quality of the man who governed this country for two years and told the world how corrupt and lazy we were in order to help his buddies capitalize on our misery. And this is the true face of the man who toppled Costas Karamanlis in 2009 and the only chance we ever had as a nation to stand proud.

'Year of Gastronomy' For Santorini

Santorini is not only a destination that offers tourists magical sunsets, lovers of good food also know that it is an island with incredible tastes as well. The development of Greek gastronomy as a tourism theme is one of the Greek tourism ministry's immediate priorities, Tourism Minister Olga Kefaloyanni said this week while addressing an event organized by the municipality of Thira at the Acropolis Museum in Athens on the occasion of the declaration of 2013 as the Year of Gastronomy on the island of Santorini.

Kefaloyanni said that the promotion of thematic tourism is an immediate priority in the overall strategy for developing Greek tourism, because it will enrich the tourism product and contribute to extending the tourism season, which she said is the big wager for Greek tourism.

In that direction, the Thira municipality's initiative to declare 2013 the "Year of Gastronomy" on Santorini was a praiseworthy effort toward the desired purpose. The state news agency quoted her as saying that Santorini, which was already a strong destination on the world tourism scene, was the ideal place from which an organized effort could start.

Loverdos To Form New Party In 6 Months

Underlining the need for immediate action, Independent MP and former PASOK minister Andreas Loverdos presented a series of six-month proposals on the development and disengagement from bureaucracy of the economy to members of his newly founded "Radical Social-Democratic Alliance Movement (RIKSSY). At a press conference that was held earlier this week, Loverdos clarified that the procedures for the founding of his new party are going to be finalized within the next six months, while he noted that it is not going to be a "PASOK no2".

Loverdos, who was a high-profile PASOK minister for many years, was expelled from the socialists by party leader Evangelos Venizelos in early December just hours after announcing the establishment of his RIKSSY political movement. Two weeks later, he announced his intention to establish his own political party within 2013, but clarified that he had no intention of toppling the government and forcing early elections.

Cretan Products Can Become Popular In The Middle East

Cretan products are not only popular with Greek consumers, but officials now believe that they can also gain fame in the Middle East. On the sidelines of a series of meetings held at the Chania Chamber with local business representatives, foreign entrepreneurs from the Middle East characterized the products they sampled as being excellent beyond their expectations. The same officials, who were from leading supermarket chains from Kuwait and Lebanon stated that they were confident that there will be certain agreements between their countries with Cretan exporters.

The meetings in Chania followed a similar series of meetings in the city of Herakleio within the framework of the Prefecture of Crete's targeted promotion of local products to foreign markets. Products presented to interested foreign importers included Cretan olive oil, olives, rusks, honey, cheese and many varieties of marmalades.

Czechs charged With Espionage in Greece Freed After 4 Months In Jail

After four months in a Greek jail facing spying charges, two Czech computer games developers are set to return home very soon. The pair, who were arrested for taking photos of a military facility on the island of Lemnos, have been freed on bail in the wake of a fresh ruling from the Athens authorities stating that they do not represent a security threat. Martin Pezlar, 28, and Ivan Buchta, 33, are developers for a Prague-based computer games maker named Bohemia Interactive. While on holiday in September on the island of Lemnos, located near the Greek-Turkish border, they took photos of a local army base – they say with a view to using the pictures in connection with a new project.

The two were subsequently arrested on charges of espionage that could have carried sentences of 20 years behind bars. However, they have just been released on bail of EUR 5,000 each, following lobbying from the Czech president, prime minister and foreign minister. Indeed, Greece’s prime minister, Antonis Samaras, personally informed his Czech counterpart, Petr Nečas, about the decision on Tuesday.

The Czech consul in Athens, Blanka Kovácsová – who visited the pair last week – outlines the turning point in the case. “The commission that decided on their charges decided that their activities did not threaten the security of the Greek state. On that basis, agreement to bail was granted. But that doesn’t mean that the trial will not take place. It will take place within 18 months of their arrest, or it should.”  But perhaps it will not. Pezlar and Buchta’s Czech lawyer, Dagmar Raupachová, is optimistic her clients will not actually be tried for spying. “The situation regarding the evidence in the case file does not support the possibility of the crime of espionage being proven. I read between the lines of yesterday’s decision that there will be a change of legal qualification.”

That is likely to mean that the charge of spying will be replaced with one of taking photographs without a permit. That normally carries a fine in Greece, so in view of the fact the games developers have already spent several months in prison, they may well face no further punishment.

Buchta and Pezlar have received support from people in the Czech Republic and in the international gaming industry. Their fathers travelled to Greece to visit them in detention, while they have been allowed to phone home.  Buchta’s mother Hana said she was overjoyed at the news. “It’s wonderful, of course, wonderful. We’ve been waiting for this news for over four months, so we’re incredibly happy.
