The global energy giant Gazprom is reportedly showing a great deal of interest in Greece's sports industry According to an article in SportDay, the energy giant, which is already a sponsor of teams such as Chelsea and Serbia's Red Star, and which is ready to sign a commercial cooperation agreement with Germany's Bayern, is now now looking into investing in several Greek soccer teams.
Gazprom, which has already been active in Greece since the early 90s, is planning to gain a large chunk of Hellenic Petroleum which is currently in the process of being privatized.
In 2009, the company purchased 51 percent of the state electrical company and then began sponsoring its Red Star team thus revolutionizing the soccer industry in the Balkans.
In 2005 Gazprom invested in Venezuela natural gas and oil exploration and then through its state oil company PDVSA began sponsoring the Deportivo Tahir.
Finally, it is rumored that the company is planning a similar move in Cyprus.
The move might prove to be a life saver to the Greek soccer industry
which is not enjoying the hay days of 2004 when the national team won the European
Championship but is unfortunately suffering just like every other
industry in this country which is a result of a deep recession. Besides, Germany has already done this by sponsoring teams such as Schalke and Bayern.
The Greek government miracoulasly stopped handing out various benefits, including pensions, to 200,000 people who lied to get their monthly cheques or were in fact dead, a Greek Labour Ministry official said on Wednesday. A report on capital.gr said that the government discovered the fraud after beginning basic data cross checks and means-testing, under pressure from its international lenders to cut its deficits and then terminated payments to families that continued to receive the pensions of their dead seniors. It also stopped benefits to wealthy recipients who had posed as poor to become eligible.
A couple of earthquakes rattled the area of Nafpaktos on Wednesday a little after noon time scaring residents who are now afraid of the aftershocks. The quake which registered 4.5 earthquake on the Richter scale occurred at 13.35, 14 km east of Nafpaktos. The epicenter of the earthquake is estimated at 5 km. Note that at 13.48 there was a second quake with the same epicenter and focal depth, but this time the intensity was registered at 2.8 on the Richter scale.
Surprisingly, more Greek men had penis extension surgery in 2010, in

As Henry Kissinger said first we strike at their language, then their religion and then their history. Guess what folks, Cypriot MP Marios Matsakis submitted a proposal to the Cyprus Minister of Education Andreas Demetriou calling for the "simplification" of the Greek language. The same proposal was also sent to Greek MPs.
Demetriou's proposal calls for the setting up of a linguistics committee that will look into the "simplification" and the "modernization" of the Greek language.
In his letter, the Cypriot MP says that we should:
remove the letters 'η' and 'υ' and replaced by the letter ι'.
abolish the letter 'ω' and replaced by the letter 'o'.
delete the following letter combinations and replaced as follows: αι'---> 'ε', 'ει'--->'ι', 'οι--->ι', 'υι'--->ι',
'αυ'--->'αβ', 'ευ'--->'εβ'
end the use of 'γγ' and replaced by the 'γκ'.
repeal of the final letter 'ς' and replaced by the letter 'σ'
As a result of these changes, says the MP, the Greek alphabet will only have 21 letters (α, β, γ, δ, ε, ζ, θ, ι, κ, λ, μ, ν ,ξ , ο ,π, ρ, σ, τ, φ, χ, ψ) and ('ου').
Matsakis argues that the simplification of Greek writing is necessary in the context of a unitary beam voltage of languages in the European Union. Moreover, such a change would make the Greek script simpler and more manageable.

For centuries, women have been reporting engorgement of the upper, anterior part of the vagina during the stage of sexual excitement, despite the fact the structure of this phenomenon had not been anatomically determined.
A new study published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine documents that this elusive structure does exist anatomically.
Adam Ostrzenski, M.D., Ph.D., of the Institute of Gynecology in St. Petersburg, FL, conducted a stratum-by-stratum anterior vaginal wall dissection on an 83-year-old cadaver. The dissection established the presence of the G-spot, a well-delineated sac structure located on the dorsal (back) perineal membrane, 16.5 mm from the upper part of the urethral meatus, creating a 35 degree angle with the lateral (side) border of the urethra.
Having 3 distinct regions, the G-spot emerged with dimensions of length (L) of 8.1 mm x width (W) 3.6 mm to 1.5 mm x height (H) 0.4 mm. Upon removal of the entire structure with the adjacent margin tissues, the G-spot stretched from 8.1 to 33 mm.
"This study confirmed the anatomic existence of the G-spot, which may lead to a better understanding and improvement of female sexual function," Ostrzenski concludes.
Irwin Goldstein, editor-in-chief of The Journal of Sexual Medicine believes that research in women's sexual health issues is important. "This case study in a single cadaver adds to the growing body of literature regarding women's sexual anatomy and physiology."
Residents of Syros island were stunned when they saw the star of Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford, strolling around the backstreets of the island. The famous actor is presently in Greece and enjoying some intense R&R as well as familiarizing himself with one of the most beautiful islands in the Aegean.
According to a report on the STAR television channel Harrison Ford was in the main town of Hermoupolis in the company of a Greek guide and he showed amazement over the history of the Cycladean capital as well as its neoclassical architecture.
This is not Harrison Ford's first visit to Greece, since he has repeatedly said that he loves the Greek islands. That is one of the reasons he keeps on coming back for a visit every now and then.
The governor of the Bank of Greece's is expected to present worse-than-expected forecasts today over economic developments in the country for 2012 and recommend faster implementation of reforms for the return of the economy to a growth course by 2013. According to sources, the bank's annual report on monetary policy is expected to forecast that economic recession will surpass 4.5 pct this year, while unemployment was projected to surpass 19 pct, from 17.7 pct in 2011. The same sources said that George Provopoulos, the central banker, will recommend faster implementation of reforms and adopting a national strategy to lead the economy back to growth in 2013. The central banker believes that the first positive steps have been made already, such as completion of PSI and a recapitalization of banks. The Bank of Greece will stress that the economy is at a crucial turning point and underline the necessity to stick to the commitments resulting from a new loan agreement. The report will also underline that policies implemented in the past two years fell short of original targets mainly because of a deeper-than-expected recession in the country. Provopoulos will stress that if the current program was fully implemented, the economy will manage to return to a growth course.
A prose4cutor is getting set to open the scandalous wire-tapping issue and the suspicious death of a Vodafone software engineer who was reported to have hung himself because he did not want to be implicated in this controversy. More exactly, first instance prosecutor Haralambos Lakafosis is going
to reopen the case into the death of 39-year-old Costas Tsalikidis, several months after
experts suggested that he may have been murdered.
In 2006 a court ruled that the deceased committed suicide in March 2005 because he suposedely helped hack the phone of then-Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis and more than 100 other officials, however the family of Tsalikidis and their legal team have challenged this version of events.
In 2011, Theodoros Vougiouklakis and Steven Karch raised doubts in their reports about the initial autopsy. In fact Karch had said that “the most likely scenario” is that Tsalikidis “was sedated and/or poisoned and later hung after death.
On Sunday, August 28, 2011 hellasfrappe had written an article on this titled "Greek Watergate Scandal- US Embassy behind phone-tapping of Karamanlis". In this story we quoted an article that had appeared in a Sunday edition of Kathimerini claiming that the US Embassy in Athens was behind the wire-tapping against the former prime minister. The article noted that four of a total of fourteen mobile phones used by Karamanlis and his associates were purchased in the name of the US embassy. Apart from the former prime minister, the commander of the Greek Secret Services (EYP), the head of the Greek police, several ministers and dozens of civilians were also apparently being monitored from an illegal software which was installed on these phones and which belonged to the Vodafone company in Greece. March 4, 2005 Vodafone discovers (as per company statements) foreign “interception” software in its network. Vodafone Greece doesn’t formally take the position that Ericsson installed before the Olympic games a “legal interception” software, which was subsequently locked and shut down.
March 5, 2005 - Vodafone decides to remove the foreign interception software without finding the culprits of the wire tapping. Thus, according to many experts the culprits can no longer be traced. Mr. Koronias, CEO of Vodafone Greece, claimed before the Parliamentary Committee on Transparency, no one had asked him to reactivate the illegal software in order to trace the phones that intercepted the conversations in question. The company claims that they have back up copies of the deleted data and that they committed no illegal act within the boundaries of the Act for the Protection of the Privacy of Telecommunications.
March 9, 2005 - Costantinos Tsalikidis, Network Planning Supervisor for Vodafone and top level manager for the company, is found dead in his apartment from in what looked like a suicide hanging. He never left a (suicide) note nor any indication that he was suffering from any personal problems. No autopsy was conducted and the forensic report was inconclusive. The circumstances surrounding the death of Tsalikidis, were characterized as questionable just one year later and directly connected to his professional position at Vodafone, so the Athens Prosecution re-opened the case. Vodafone Greece never sent a condolence telegraph to the deceased’s family, regardless of the fact that Mr. Tsalikidis worked at Vodafone for over a decade.
March 10, 2005 - The CEO of Vodafone Greece, Mr. Koronias, briefs the Prime Minister of Greece in the presence of a Prosecutor about the wire tapping. Among the phones that were tapped was that of the Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis as well as all the ministers of the current government, members of the Parliamentary opposition, as well as other non-parliamentary officials. He also mentions the "suicide" without however connecting it to the wire tapping incident. The following year however, in the context of the legal proceedings that began on February 8, 2006, Mr. Koronias claimed that he had the complete approval of the government, especially Karamanlis himself, for his actions. The matter was deemed one of top national security and top secret by the government. The question at hand is why the Greek Authority for the Assurance of Information and Communication Privacy was not informed and why regular legal procedures were not followed before deactivating the software.
March 11, 2005 - The Prosecutor for the Supreme Court, Mr. Linos gives a direct order to the Head Prosecutor in person so that an urgent and preliminary investigation be made far from public scrutiny. The order did not have any mention of a "suicide". The question at hand focused on the findings from the 11-month investigation (which began on March 11, 2005 and is still ongoing) and why the case seems to be re-examined from scratch.
June 11, 2005 - The local police precinct that investigated the death of Tsalikidis, closes the case on the suicide and sends the files to the Prosecutor’s office. According to the police, no evidence of a break-in was found, therefore, they did not see the need to conduct an autopsy nor to take fingerprints. Vodafone Greece did not hand over any personal data from Tsalikidis' personal computer to his family or to authorities, which would have greatly assisted the investigation.
January 30, 2006 - The Head Prosecutor, Mr. Papangelopoulos, claims to have been informed about the suicide case from the Major General, who mentioned the suicide outside of the court proceedings. A year later Vodafone Greece remained silent on the type of internal investigation that took place, on whether suspects were located and what type of sanctions were imposed on them relating to what is possibly one of the smelliest political scandals in the modern history of Greece.
February 1, 2006 - The preliminary investigation conducted by Mr. Papangelopoulos regarding the wire tapping is concluded with a statement claiming that he was waiting for evidence from state authorities.
February 2, 2006 - Criminal charges are filed against unknown perpetrators for wire tapping. On the same day, three ministers make statements to the press where they congratulate Mr. Koronias for his stance to erase the software program. The next day the press characterizes the handling of this case as a huge political and communication blunder.
February 3, 2006 - The press widely believes that the wire tapping case is related to the suicide of Tsalikidis. This is first page news in all the press and mass media of the country for the next two weeks. Countless news programs are assuming that the suicide of Tsalikidis may not have been a suicide.
February 8, 2006 - The investigation of Tsalikidis’ death is handed over to the highly experienced Prosecutor, Mr. Diotis. For the first time in a year since the death of Tsalikidis an investigation of his apartment is conducted. The results have not been made public yet.
March 9, 2006 - The day of the anniversary of Tsalikidis’ death, Mr. Koronias is cross-examined by the Parliamentary Committee on Institutions and Transparency. He stated that he did not order or receive the «lawful interception» software program. He also said that as the producer of the software, Ericsson was responsible since they had fully trained personnel on the functioning of the software program. Mr. Koronias stated that Vodafone has a very technologically elaborate security system and that it was because of his diligence that the incident was considered to be of «national security.» Parliament also suppoenaed the head of Ericsson to appear in a future hearing. With regard to the death of Tsalikidis, Mr. Koronias said that he mentioned the «suicide» to the ministers that he met with in March 2005 and that Vodafone was assisting authorities in any way possible with their investigation. The question here is whether an internal investigation file exists on Tsalikidis, and if so why the family members have never been informed of its findings.
Sometimes black humor turns into stupidity and sometimes it can also become downright disgusting. One example of this is a recent statement made by Petros Tatsopoulos who is a candidate with the Coalition of the Left (SYRIZA). You may remember him from a series on SKAI television that was dedicated to the War of Independence called "1821". He was the narrarator of the series and the same person who had insulted the memory of war time hero Theodore Kolokotronis by claiming that he was gay and engaged on his facebook page. Over a year ago this statement ridiculed him and luckily for us he vanished from the screen. Well... he is back and in his attempt to once again be funny he said another BIG m****lakia, but this time it was against the leader of the Independent Hellenes Movement Panos Kammenos.
On Monday Panos Kammenos said that even dead he would never accept being part of a coalition government. Commenting on this, Tatsopoulos said that he should seriously consider it because he felt "that Kammenos would be an exceptional partner if dead". Mr. Tatsopoulos this statement only shows us that you clearly lack personality and quality as an individual. If this was your idea of "black humor" then we are really concerned and propose that you seek some guidance.
Answering back, Panos Kammenos said in one of his posts on Tweeter today that the "slanderer of Kolokotronis" wants him dead!
Did that put an end to the squabble... no way!
Tatsopoulos replied back with the same type of back humor saying that "realizing that Panos Kammenos does not have humor is more than obvious - its like robbing the Candle Stand at Church. (huh... ????????? slap me... is that supposed to be funny?)
"With the disappointment I see that he has also mustered armies of idiots, against those that criticize and stigmatize those that put up with his nonesense. He obviously sends them for a microbiological examination first and automatically excludes those whom are diagnosed with a suspected trace of humor in their urine. To block them all from my facebook wall is nothing more than futile, besides I have to take care of our entertainment," added Tatsopoulos.
EDITOR'S NOTE - Mr. Tatsopoulos.... we are not laughing and certainly we are not entertained. The people who vote for the party you represent, or the party that Panos Kammenos represents, or the people that Antonis Samaras represents, or Aleka Papariga represents are not idiots... they are GREEK citizens and you bloody well remember that next time you decided to run for office since you depend on their vote! Terming people idiots is not going to score you any points with potential voters.. this we guarantee. And finally a word of advice to the president of SYRIZA Alex Tsipras: You are not going to win with names such as Tatsopoulos on your list of candidates, because people already regard him as a "tool" of the NWO, a very sarcastic man, a wanna-be and he is generally not really liked by the masses. The documentary "1821" which we featured here on hellasfrappe was indeed well produced, but it contained too many controversial falsifications and interpretations of our history and in some cases was downright too insulting to even watch. This already stigmatized Tatsopoulos in our eyes. Following this, the statements on his facebook wall about Kolokotronis did not help matters either. Mr. Tsipras, although we do not agree with your policies we still consider you to be a serious man therefore we propose that you should be more careful when choosing your political candidates. We are so fed up with the "bla, bla, bla," of all our wanna-be political leaders that when they speak we know beforehand that the only thing we will hear is a new pack of lies. One such instance happened on Monday night when ANT1's Maria Houkli and Stratis Liarelis interviewed PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos. In his desperation to rule Venizelos explained why he believes that PASOK must
win the upcoming elections. He said that his party was the only political force that was in favor of a coalition government. And we ask.... A coalition government with the political party that totally destroyed our economy in power again? Are you kidding us?
We also feel that he suddenly developed Alzheimer's Disease, or at least that is the impression he gave us here at
hellasfrappe, when he said that the first memorandum was a great mistake, but he defended the "idea" of the Memorandum noting that it should have passed with 180 votes so that all politicians would assume a piece of responsibility. And we ask... Why the hell should another political party form a coalition government with a political party that does not work in favor of Greek interests? We already know that your party conducted "secret diplomatic discussions" with Turkey on the issue of the Aegean, your political party voted on a law that made the Turkish language mandatory in the prefecture on Thrace, and most importantly your political party purposely took us to the IMF! Why the hell would the other political parties want to even be associated with you?
Then he said that the question
of the referendum announced by former PM George Papandreou, took him by "surprise". And we ask... Mr. Venizelos you supported George
Papandreou on the first Memorandum and then later on you stood by him with that historic speech in parliament with his loony decision to
hold a referendum. Jesus.... Your party is so desperate to stay in
power, and you have such a bulimia to rule because you actually believe that you are doing us a favor that you forget that this only happened several months ago. Did you actually think that we would forget?
A bizarre report on the joint US-Russia military drills taking place next month in the State of Colorado says that the plans received from the Americans call for Russian Airborne Troops (VDV) during this strange exercise to “take and hold” the Central Intelligence Agencies (CIA) main facility, the National Security Agencies (NSA) main facility and the Denver International Airport (DIA).
The Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation is a federal body of executive authority responsible for monitoring and supervising the Russian Federation's international military-technical cooperation.
Puzzling to Russian military analysts about this exercise, this report says, are that according to the American plans, Russian airborne troops (using US weapons that they had previously trained with at Fort Carson) will fly to and than parachute from their planes having the objectives of seizing the CIA’s main computer facility in Denver, the NSA’s main computer facility in Bluffdale, Utah, and taking control of main runways and terminals of the Denver International Airport.
The purpose of seizing the Denver International Airport, this report continues, is for the evacuation of the key personal and equipment previously “freed” from the CIA’s Denver base, and the NSA’s base in Utah, who were, supposedly, under “imminent threat” from an unspecified enemy, according, that is, to the American scenario for this war game.
Not known to many Americans is that over the past decade both the CIA and NSA have transferred their main bases of operations to the Western US. The CIA announced their transfer to Denver in 2005 with many speculating their main base of operations has been placed beneath the Denver International Airport. The NSA, likewise, has transferred their main base of operation to Utah and created what is now called the United States biggest spy center in Bluffdale.
The Denver International Airport (photo top) aside from being the biggest airport in the United States, and having that countries longest runway, deserves special mention since it has been embroiled in controversy since it opened in 1994, and as we can, in part, read:

Also interesting to note, this report says, is that this entire exercise will be overseen by the “drone army” owned and operated by the University of Colorado who have over the past few years has applied for and obtained over 100 Certificate of Authorization’s (COA) from the US government to fly their pilotles surveillance aircraft for reasons still as yet unknown.
To the most puzzling question in the minds of Russian military analysts, this report concludes, is why the Americans are using Russian airborne troops to be the “protectors” of these vital US intelligence resources instead of the “aggressors” as has always been the case historically. One speculation in this report, however, does note that the scenario to be played out in late May, in Colorado, as planned by the Americans, does, indeed, mirror similar plans of the Russian General Staff of actions to be taken in the case of sudden civil war where “outside forces” would be called upon to protect the government from overthrow by internal forces or armed rebellion by the military.
A strong earthquake shook up Ierapetra Crete early on Tuesday morning, startling residents in this popular coastal town. The quake occurred at 01:15 am and was said to have registered 4,6 on the Richter scale. According to the National Observatory of Athens the epicenter of the earthquake was said to be located 38 kilometers west of Ierapetra (in the Aegean sea), or 371 kilometers from Athens. No damages and injuries were reported.
On April 23, 1998 a little after 2:00 am former minister of Foreign
Affairs and close associate, Petros Moliviatis formally announced the
death of Konstantinos G. Karamanlis. The father of our democracy died at
the age of 92 at the Ygeia Hospital from severe heart failure.
The
elderly statesman, whose political career spanned five decades, founded
the New Democracy party following his triumphant return to Greece from
self- imposed exile in Paris in the wake of the collapse of a seven-year
military dictatorship in July 1974 .
He served as prime minister four times and was elected twice as head of state.
In
December 1974 he ordered a referendum in which 70 percent of the
electorate voted for the abolition of the monarchy and the setting up of
a presidential republic.
Following his death, his
nephew, Costas Karamanlis, the former leader of the New Democracy party
and ex-premier of Greece said in a statement: "Constantine Karamanlis,
the great and inspired leader, whose creative work changed Greece's
destiny has entered history. The vision and principles of our (party's)
founder will always inspire and guide us."
Indeed.
Karamanlis
is one of Europe's most revered politicians, a conservative patriarch,
he not only oversaw the re-introduction of democracy in Greece, but also
carved out a niche for our country in the West by engineering its entry
into the European Community in 1981.
In an era suffering from a
deep political, economic and social crisis, that at the same time is in dire need of proper representation, human
resources and national guidance, Greece needs personalities
such as that of Konstantino G. Karamanlis, now more than ever.
According to a report on E-nikos, Jennifer Aniston is planning to marry her boyfriend Justin Therouxin a secret wedding on Crete this June. The report, which was quoting a report from the TMZ site claims that the couple has booked the Elounda Beach Hotel for the lavish affair. Aniston met and apparently fell in love with Theroux, while making Wanderlust in rural Georgia in 2010.
According to the report, Jennifer is not going to remain at the hotel since she still has very strong links to Greece, and especially to Crete, since her father John
Aniston (or rather Gianis Anastasakis) was born there. In fact Jennifer lived here for at least a year with her family when she was a toddler.

We do know that the former star of "Friends" was in Greece recently scouting the island for a suitable location during a recent visit and certainly the Elounda Beach Hotel is one such place.

We all know that the New Democracy party will win the next national elections, but if you thought for a second that PASOK would give up power that easily... then think again. The system wants to force a coalition government and it has now begun playing very dirty games with the elections. On Sunday we discovered that they are committing election fraud and now the mud-slinging has begun. We are actually accustomed to these types of tactics especially before each election countdown, and know that when PASOK results to this it is because they are trembling with the thought of losing power, nonetheless we still get shocked -and disgusted- when we see their "Yes Men" doing the dirty work for them. In this case it was a "suspicious" report on SKAI channel.
On Sunday SKAI channel broadcasted a story stating that New Democracy leader Antonis Samaras told the French premier that the only reason he is saying he will lower taxes if elected to power is because he wants to win more votes.
Certainly, politicians make grand speeches before every election countdown but the story on SKAI did not specifically say that the French premier said this... they said that "circles" (or rather interests) around the French prime minister said that Samaras said this.
This is bullshit.
This is nothing more than propaganda... And the reporter that presented this story is doing nothing more than throwing a ball of mud one way... hoping that it will stick to the minds of people.
Hellasfrappe does not usually criticise news reports because we want to believe that after so much "cleansing" happening on every level in Greece, that at some point this would also occur in the journalism industry. Unfortunately we were forced to speak our mind about this because it is obvious that the report only wants to discredit and rather not "report".
Watch the video for yourselves. A reporter from Le Figaro apparently said on Mbambi Papadimitriou's show that "circles around the French prime minister said that this is so"...
So what?
I can come out tomorrow and say that circles around Sakis Rouvas claim that he is married to Psinakis... would this be a news story?
Would it be featured on the nightly news as the prime story?
With what proof?
Are you kidding us!
We applaud New Democracy spokesman Giannis Michelakis for acting quickly and asking the reporter who these circles were, when this was said, and if she was present at the specific meeting When she was placed into a corner she could not give any believable answers.
And we ask? Then why the hell report it as NEWS?

You cannot present a news story on a hunch... or because you heard a rumor... where is the facts supporting this?
Indeed you can interpret things, but only after they are presented as proof.
That is different.
It was obvious that you were just throwing mud one way, hoping that it would stick in the back of our minds.
Unfortunately this time it is not going to work because we know the PASOK has mastered the art of mud slinging for years.
We also know that all the channels that support PASOK are the ones that actually believe we suffer from Alzheimer's Disease and forget that this party totally destroyed our economy.
We saw the same tactics being used two years ago when the New Democracy party was in power.
Shame.
SKAI channel is a great channel, with amazing investigative reports and entertaining documentaries.
The fact that they support and have reporters such as Mbambis Papadimitriou in their staff though is a crying shame. He is one of the "key" advocates for the Troika and the PASOK government and has never hidden his admiration for Evangelos Venizelos.
Mr. Papadimitriou... nice try.

Today might be Saint George Day but it is also a dark day for our nation's younger history. It was Friday afternoon, April 23, 2010. The Stock Exchange had closed and the Sunday newspapers were sent off to the printers to be published when all of a sudden every channel in Greece tuned into the state ERT channel to watch (and listen to) former PASOK leader and ex-premier George Papandreou announce his government's decision to seek aid from the support mechanism of the IMF, EU and ECB Memorandum. From a pier on Kastelorizo island, and a backdrop showing the deep blue waters of the Aegean ... Papandreou made the historic announcement and allowed the Troika to come into our lives. Little did we know how much our lives would change.
Two years later, PASOK still continues to argue that it saved Greece and the economy by doing so, as do the other two political parties that endorsed this decision (specifically Dora Mbakogiannis' Democratic Alliance Party and George Karatzaferis' LAOS party) while we say... never before in the history of this nation has Greece ever faced such a terrible crisis.
Was this planned?
Was it part of a wider scheme?
After two years and tonnes of information later we believe that it was.
There is no two ways about it.
PASOK handed over our sovereignty ...
PASOK spit on the Greek Constitution by doing so...
PASOK stepped on our dignity as a people because it never asked us if we wanted this memorandum...
PASOK commercialized and mortgaged Greek national wealth and now we are being threatened with losing Greece's only life vest to recovery...
PASOK institutionalized a regime of foreign occupation and allowed Germany and the IMF to dictate to us.
And by doing so... PASOK irreparably undermined Greece's national interests.
The only word that can describe these acts is one... TREASON.
Why did Greece accept the Memorandum?
Why didn't the government of PASOK negotiate better terms for the Greek people?
Why
did George Papandreou go to Kastelorizo Island to announce our entrance
to the IMF, and what was going on several miles away?
Who is responsible for the decisions and obligations that are dictated in the Memorandum?
Why
didn't the government of Papandreou ask our European allies to perform a
hair-cut in the first few months the crisis broke out and why didn't
they propose it themselves?
The new leader of the socialists Evangelos Venizelos might believe that Greeks will forget what he said during this period, or how he supported George Papandreou's decision, but this is one thing that society will never forget so he is doing nothing more than ridiculing himself by thinking so.
Nonetheless, PASOK is PASOK... and to understand this party is to understand George Papandreou and we all know... that this is utterly impossible.
This can never be forgotten....

Now here is some good news, the Hellenic Olympic Committee decided to add Kstelorizo to its list of sites where the Greek Olympic Flame will pass before leaving Greece and heading to the UK for this year's "London 2012" summer games. On such a note, the flame will leave the ancient site of Olympia on May 11 following a traditional ceremony, then travel to the island of Crete and following this will be taken for a run on the island of Kastelorizo. The latter island and the municipality is located in the southeastern Mediterranean roughly 2 km from the south coast of Turkey, or about 570 km southeast of Athens and all the eyes of the "petrol world" are glued to this place, not necessarily for the island itself and all its beauty but for its geo-strategic position. When Athens finally claims its full EEZ, Kastelorizo’s presence would make its EEZ contiguous with the EEZ of Cyprus, a factor with great importance now, since there are massive off-shore gas and oil discoveries being made. The tiny island of Kastelorizo with an EEZ benefits the emerging Greece-Cyprus-Israel alliance by making the transportation of Cypriot and Israeli natural gas (via pipeline) or electricity (via cable) to Western Europe possible without the permission of Turkey. The move by the Hellenic Committee is certainly symbolic... but it is sending out its own message to Ankara that clearly says "hands off"!

This name is very common by all those baptised in the Christian Orthodox Church and celebrated today by Georges and Georgias all over the world. What this basically means is that almost half of the population of the Greek Omogeneia is probably celebrating their name day today!
