Greek judicial authorities on Monday are expected to decide on the further handling of the case of the an Independent Greeks (ANEL) party MP who testified that he was offered a bribe in order to vote for Greek president.
According to appeals court sources, prosecutor Panagiotis Panagiotopoulos who is investigating the case concluded his report on Sunday following supplementary testimonies by ANEL leader Panos Kammenos and party MP Pavlos Haikalis, who made the allegation.
The prosecutor's recommendation for the case will then be submitted to the head of the Appeals Prosecution, Isidoros Doyiakos.
According to sources, the prosecution rejected Haikalis’ request to lift his telecommunications privacy, saying the evidence it already has is enough to give authorities a clear idea of the case.
The prosecution also considers the audio and video material submitted by Haikalis and Kammenos is illegal, the same sources said.
