A young British national was slightly injured earlier this week when he fell off his hotel balcony at the popular resort town of Laganas on the Ionian island of Zakynthos (Zante). Police reports claim that the young man, 20, was sitting on the ledge of his balcony and resting his legs against a chair when he suddenly lost his balance and fell three floors onto a parapet.
In a separate incident, another young man of undisclosed age died on Monday from complications of a fall at a hotel in the same town.
Reports claim that the unknown victim attempted to walk on a decorative abutment four metres off the ground, and then lost his balance and fell, injuring himself seriously. He was transported to the hospital in Rio (Achaia) where he unfortunately died. His remains were then returned to England.
Officials conducted an autopsy before returning his body to the UK and the results are still pending, while the police is still investigating the case.
