Track and field athelete Voula Papachristou's decision to challenge herself with Turkey's Fenerbahce and wear the colors of the Turkish team has certainly upset many of her fans in Greece, who supported her when she was cut off from her participation at the London Olympic Games in 2012.
She is going to compete in two games at the league championships in May and June. She told the news sports site contra.gr that she was trailing behind other challengers because of the bad rap she received during the Olympic Games last summer and this is why she began looking around for matches in other countries. The Turkish team proposed a handsome package to her and she accepted!
It should be reminded that the triple-jumper lost her spot on the Greek national team for expressing support for the Golden Dawn party and mocking African migrants with this message: "With so many Africans in Greece, at least the West Nile mosquitoes will eat home made food".
Shame.
