Greek Students From Evia And Thessaloniki Selected to Visit NASA
A student from Evia, and another from Thessaloniki were selected to participate in this year’s NASA Space Camp program which is scheduled to take place in Huntsville, Alabama. Fotis Giasemis, 16, from the St. Anne’s High School in Evia0 and Eleni Tsaprazi, 17, from the Mantoulides High School in Thessaloniki are now going to travel to the United States at the end of July, where they will spend seven days learning about the solar system and the life and work of astronauts close to highly trained staff.
When they return, the students are planning to excel at the fourth phase of the Greek National Competition titled PTOLEMAEUS, which is going to allow them to enter the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) in 2013.
This year’s IOAA is scheduled to be held in the cities of Volos and Larissa between July 27 - August 5. As the host country, Greece will have the opportunity to participate with two teams and 10 students.
