Probe Into Assassination Attempt Against Karamanlis Set To Wrap Up - Prosecution Files Charges

Several months ago HellasFrappe reported about an investigation by the Greek prosecution into a planned assassination attempt against former conservative leader Costas Karamanlis, as well as a plot to destabilize Greece's economy, society and its political system. The revelations about the assassination attempt, as well as a plan titled "Pythia" were first reported by the Epikaria magazine in June 2011 and several months later a Greek prosecutor launched an official investigation into the allegations based on that article.

For months following that, HellasFrappe continued to report various follow up articles on this issue because we felt it was of national importance and significance.

As such, a couple of weeks ago we ran a follow up story about this story again noting that prosecutors were ready to merge the allegations over the assassination attempt, as well as two other controversial cases into one grand probe. From what we learn today, this investigation is now in its last phase and is expected to soon wrap up.

We cannot speak about what stage the other two investigations are, but the assassination attempt, as well as the plan to destablize Greece is nearing its end.

Greek Prosecuter, Attorney Nicholas Ornerakis, who has been investigating this case from the start, fully confirms that this story is no conspiracy it is as real as you and I. At the same time he vindicates the groundbreaking story from Epikaira magazine, which opened a Pandora's Box to the reasons behind the fall of the former New Democracy leader.

Thankfully, the article was so shocking that it motivated the reflexes of the Hellenic justice system, which over the past 15 years has been completely dormant. Supreme Court Deputy Procurator, George Koliokostas, who is highly respected for his legal training and knowledge, ordered the preliminary investigation in August 2012. The investigation was then commissioned by the head of the Athens First Instance Court Prosecutor Eleni Raikou and Deputy Attorney Mr. Nicholas Ornerakis.

Ornerakis investigated the case with much persistence. He examined many witnesses (politicians, journalists, senior executives of National Intelligence, etc.), including the then Minister of Public Order Prokopis Pavlopoulos, the former Head of the Greek Intelligence Service Mr. Ioannis Korantis and even questioned (mystery man) Alex Rondos who was an adviser to former premier George Papandreou.

(To learn about who Alex Rondos is, please check bottom for links)

After massing together the testimonies from all these witnesses as well as gathering all the documents needed, which were used by the magazine in the report, the Deputy Attorney concluded that not only was there a plan to assassinate Karamanlis and a parallel plan to totally destabilize Greece on all fronts, but these plans were also put into action. (In other words, the plans were not just words on paper... They were executed in all their glory).

HellasFrappe is the only English language blog that has actually translated that controversial article from Epikaira and/or even bothered to report this scandalous and shocking story about former premier Mr. Karamanlis. And when we did, we came under fire from many skeptics for its authenticity as well as for the reasons behind its publication. This of course did not obstruct us from seeking the truth and that is why we have been closely following the story and publishing follow up articles on it for over 20 months now, and will continue to do so until justice is served. We strongly believe in what has been reported so far, and are convinced that Mr. Karamanlis became a target from greedy imperialists, foreign intelligence agencies, and energy oligarchs.

If you too have been following the story along with us, then you might recall that we had published this controversial article in three parts. (Check bottom for links) In one of those stories, you might also recall that we had quoted reports as saying that the Russian secret services helped Greek intelligence officials on this case. We had also noted that the culprits had detonated a bomb against the former PM while his car was on route to his private home in Rafina. This instance alone, convinced the Greek prosecution to continue digging into the case.

Luckily the aforementioned assassination attempt was averted, as were all other motions to murder him, because he was advised from intelligence services about what was going on and was able to take all the necessary steps to protect himself and his family.

Almost 20 months after this shocking report came to light, the Greek justice system (or Ornerakis) finally filed charges of preparatory acts of high treason, or conspiracy to disrupt the smooth functioning of the then government (meaning Karamanlis' right to exercise power as conferred by Article 135 of the Constitution -Paragraph 2-4- in conjunction with Article 134 -Paragraph 2-).

The investigation, which is in its final phase, is now concentrating on the role of specific foreign and domestic interests, who, in order to promote their nefarious interests at the expense of the Greek State, organized and even set into motion one of the darkest schemes in history that later on destabilized our country on all fronts (economically, politically and socially). The overall aim back then was to topple the government of Karamanlis because of his energy policy, but the result was the devastation of the Greek state.

This criminal act against Greece and its people, as revealed by "Epikaira", was multifaceted and not included the total deterioration of the Greek economy, but also the kidnappings of high-ranking businessmen, civil unrest, acts of terrorism and a shift in Greece's foreign policy.

The tragic events of the recent past such as the fires in the Peloponnese in the summer of 2007, the December riots in 2008, and even the manner in which Greece embraced the IMF, now must be viewed different and require a different approach.

Now even skeptics agree that Costas Karamanlis's strategy and suave pipeline diplomacy was the only way to guarantee Greece's stabilization. He saw the tsunami coming and knew that by heading towards one direction, Greece would eventually benefit. Also, the steps he took to protect our country against the global crisis was the wisest choice for Greece at the time and would have shielded us -to some degree- from this global financial crisis, but people refused to listen and decided to repeat the sins of the past.

We here at HellasFrappe will continue to support all efforts that want to cleanse Greece from this corrupt past, and allow the younger generation of prosecutors that wants to put an end to all these treason, move forward.

We are obligated to bring all these people to justice and then pick up the pieces and rebuild this country from square one. It is not going to be easy to bring them down, but we owe it to our children, our conscience and the future of this country. (The story was first announced in Epikaira magazine as published by newsnow)
