A 30-year-old Greek national was arrested at the weekend in Athens on charges of murdering a taxi driver on the island of Paros on August 10 following a bank robbery.
Τhe assailant allegedly fatally injured Dimitris Michas, a 53-year-old taxi driver who attempted to stop him and his accomplices after an armed raid on an Alpha bank branch in the village of Naoussa (on Paros island).
Quite surprisingly reports said that the 30-year-old is connected to the Conspiracy Cells of Fire terrorist group, and is an active member of the far-left. The terrorist group has apparently carried out a series of bombings over the years (specifically during the Karamanlis period 2008-2009).
Witnesses reveal that the unfortunate taxi driver was standing near the bank when the three perpetrators exited (ith some 60,000 euros in their hands) and the taxi driver tried to halt the robbers before one of them shoot him three times.
The assailants subsequently got into a car driven by a fourth man and escaped.
