Samaras: Safety Is A "Sacred Right" For All Citizens

While visiting the heavily migrant-populated Athens district of Aghios Panteleimonas on Friday, New Democracy (ND) leader Antonis Samaras said that safety is a "sacred right" for all citizens. The leader of ND spoke with local residents, who described with the darkest colors the situation they face daily and asked for initiatives to deal with the burning problems of illegal immigration and crime. In reply, Samaras said that "we will find again the Athens we knew, the neighborhoods we knew", and pledged to clamp down on illegal immigration, but clarified that this would not be accomplished through people taking the law into their own hands but with laws and with the support of Europe. "Safety is a sacred right in a proper democracy, for every Greek man and woman," he said, adding that "we will accomplish this".
