The protesters, that also included members of the far-right group Golden Dawn, gathered outside the "Piraiki Patraiki" factory (now abandoned) which has today been taken over by homeless illegal immigrants to protest. They were met with violent clashes from Greek riot police. The police shot tear gas and gas canisters at the protesters to calm them down, some of which even apparently found their way into a home of an elderly woman. This infuriated the protestors and they reacted by throwing stones at the police as well as setting fires to garbage bins.
On Monday the police apparently arrested a 17-year-old illegal immigrant from Afghanistan and after doing an investigation issued an arrest warrant for two more Afghanis for the brutal death of the 30 year old man. Interestingly the two 17-year-olds, that are now wanted by the police, had been arrested a month earlier for illegal entry and residence in Greece and were given a deadline to leave the country. Obviously they did not respect this order.
