As expected the results of the probe investigating the falsification of the national deficit in the 2009 state budget did not find any wrongdoings on the part of George Papandreou and George Papakostantinou. On the contrary - and this is where you should pause, scratch your heads and have a good laugh - PASOK's inquiry committee did what it has done for the past three decades, it decided to blame the New Democracy party instead! There were no surprises in the ruling, seeing as PASOK held the majority of seats, and it is a pre-election period as well, so obviously they were not going to finger point at their own band of merry men (or syndrofoi) now were they? They rather chose to finger point at the competitor who right now is ahead of them in public opinion polls.
The bulimia of PASOK to rule!!! This party believes it is the only power that should govern this nation, and this really gives us stomach problems. The inquiry that was made by the prosecution and then taken to parliament for further investigation, as stipulated by law, only cleared Papandreou and his sidekick from yet another crime. This is one of the reasons the conservatives did not take part in the investigative committee, because they knew beforehand that the socialists would end up clearing "their friends" of all wrongdoings/ This is also one of the reasons that New Democracy party wants to probe the matter once it gains control of the government.
It is such a farce... and everything about this government is a total joke. From day one every policy they adopted, every move they made, and every word uttered from Papandreou can only be described as Barnum & Bailey Three-Ringed Circus.
We will be more specific, in the last two pages of their ruling, the PASOK MPs involved in the committee said that the former Finance Minister Giorgos Papakostantinou essentially did what he could do to benefit Greece and that the lending crisis was in fact something that was just inevitable.
Should we start posting the videos of what Strauss-Khan said? Should we start posting the statements from the Governor of the Bank of Greece, the president of the Privatization committee, the members of the statistical committee or should we post the laws of European statistics methodology?
Excuse us... but Mr Provopoulos stated specifically that avoiding the debt crisis was tough but he noted that if “bold measures” had been adopted early in PASOK's term then this was not inevitable. And how do you think the PASOK MPs in the committee interpreted this last statement? In their somewhat "circus" world they characterized Provopoulos' statements as a "theoretical” approach". How stupid do these people think we are?
What is even more ridiculous is how the press handled this right after the announcement. Watch the video above with Popi Tsapanidou on SKAI (which supports the PASOK party) and you will understand exactly what we are taling about. Instead of inviting Papakostantinou to speak, she instead invited the former minister of Economy under the conservatives and the poor fellow was literally attacked by the reporter for not wanting to accept the lies that PASOK MPs had said in their inquiry.
This is the "system" that the PASOK party has constructed. It throws mud against many politicians, and then uses the media to inflate the propaganda. It allowed the general public to gain a wider perception on politicians and politics based on "we are all the same" theory.
But we are not buying into this anymore. We know exactly what they are capable of. How can we trust a political party that has been already charged of embezzlement, money-laundering, kickbacks and God knows what else. Should we start posting the stories involving the Ktimatiki Case in New York? Should we start posting the stories involving George Papandreou's secret diplomacy with Turkey? Should we start posting the videos of Costas Simitis saying thank you to the Americans in the Greek Parliament? Should we start posting the articles we wrote about about Papandreou's brother Andreas' direct involvement with a company in Switzerland that sells hedge funds and that was said to have bet against our very own nation? We can go on for hours!
There is only one thing that we cannot stomach. When Professor at the University of Macedonia and former committee member of the Hellenic Statistical Service (ELSTAT) Zoe Georganta had specifically said last year that the Greek deficit for 2009 was deliberately estimated at 15.4% from Eurostat (with the help of Papakostantinou) because they wanted it to be larger than that of Ireland's debt which was estimated at 14%. "The deficit was artificially inflated in 2009 to show that the country had the largest across Europe, including that of Ireland which was 14% in order to justify the severe measures the government wanted to impose on the country. And (that is why) Eurostat presented it at 15,4%“. (Read that story here)
Shortly after she had told George Trangas on one of his nightly talk shows on EXTRA channel that the board members of the former committee still do not know how the deficit from 6.9, jumped to 12 and then to a whopping 15.4% because they were not permitted to survey the data and thus give their professional opinions.
The only person that was allowed to view the data was the present Chairman of ELSTAT Mr. Georgiou. Georganta told Trangas that night that after Georgiou concluded with these numbers, she and the other members of ELSTAT expressed their concern immediately over the numbers because they could not understand how he had arrived to this estimate. She then said that this is what promoted her and the other members to set about briefing the committee about their concerns, because simply... Georgiou was reluctant to reveal the "methodology" used in calculating these numbers. (Read that story here)
At the trial, officials surfaced an email showing that Andreas Georgiou asked IMF officials to intervene and pressure the Greek government to change the law on ELSTAT’s operating methods because he was having difficulty getting board members to cooperate. In any other country in the world Georgiou would have been arrested immediately for getting a foreign entity to "pressure" state officials, but in today's Greece he left the courtroom freely, and this is because we are governed by a green regime that totally stinks corruption. (read that story here and read the document)
Whatever they say... whatever they do, we know that George Papandreou and George Papakostantinou worked together to purposely drive our nation into the arms of the Troika. This cannot be cleared because of a "few friends" on an inquiry committee, nor is it going to escape our memory come election day. Present leader of PASOK Evangelos Venizelos will be held accountable for allowing for this to happen and he will pay the price dearly from voters.
No, no... Mr. Venizelos. You will also be held accountable, just as much as they will. All three of you are guilty in the eyes of the people. The only thing we fear is that the election process will erase their responsibilities on this issue...
These men lied and cheated the Greek people out of everything. They destroyed our economy, and today wonder freely as if nothing has happened. No, no, no... they will be 100 PERCENT be held accountable. If not by the next government, or the justice system who are too weak to even act, then this will happen by us the people!
Following the announcement the New Democracy party said in an announcement that the whole situation was shameful. "They ignored the findings of the Prosecution", they ignored complaints from the members of the Board of the Greek Statistics Authority (ELSTAT), - members who they themselves appointed;. They ignored all the compelling evidence, such as revelations of secret correspondence between the President of ELSTAT and the IMF. They ignored European documents proving that they included debts from the public state Utility companies which is not a common practice -nor is it conducted by any member state- when conducting statistical reports in the EU. They bypassed the testimony from various other witnesses who were suddenly checked of their lists and/or totally ignored and they ended up releasing an operetta, which is a challenge to all Greeks who demand and are owed the whole truth.
Faced with all this, the New Democracy party denounced the practices of PASOK and reiterated for one more time that its President Antonis Samaras’ will create a single inquiry committee following his win in the next elections which will investigate how the country was dragged to the IMF.
We shall wait and see...
