Leader of "Independent Hellenes" movement, Panos Kammenos gave an explosive speech from Distomo today declaring his party's new platform. "We have no connection to the political parties of the modern Greek era, we are a movement of citizens, which decides on issues together, and the candidates in this party should be people like you. I will do everything in my power to help achieve this goal but I am nothing more than a co-founder (of this movement). Our fight will be a difficult one, we have a (complete) darkness to battle, with special interests but always remember that even darkness fears the sun and Greece!" He also said that Greek people need to begin smiling again and noted that the "new world order will not survive in Greece, because we are many, we are independent and we are Hellenes". On her part Helena Kountoura, a former parliamentarian of the New Democracy party, who joined the ranks of the "Independent Hellenes" movement said that she was impressed at the number of people who showed up to participate in the event, noting that they arrived there from every part of Greece. "I am deeply moved with all the people who gathered for this event, but especially with the residents of Distomo, because when they speak, they only speak about (a great) Greece" said Kountoura.
