Vaso Papandreou Calls For Urgent Meeting of Political Leaders

Veteran Pasok MP Vaso Papandreou (no relation to the PM) calls for political leaders to convene with President Karolos Papoulias to form a “national salvation government” in order to safeguard the latest Brussels bailout deal, with a view to heading to general elections thereafter. After the vote on Ocotber 20 for the last austerity package, Vaso Papandreou saidit was the last time she would vote for such measures. The parliamentary vote controversially suspended collective bargaining agreements with the private sector. “Our society is in despair, the country is falling apart,” she said at the time, admitting that Pasok bears “huge responsibility” for the current crisis.
