Olympiakos was crowned as new A1 basketball champion after beating Panathinaikos 93-74 in game three of the play offs. The game was the 11th championship for the Piraeus red team and their first “sweep” in the finals. As with previous games in the play off series, Panathinaikos was not able to match up to its arch-rival Olympiakos -who was obviously better prepared for the challenge-. Nonetheless, Panathinaikos managed to put up a pretty good fight thanks to Lucas Mavrokefalidis and Vladimir Giakovits.
Olympiakos dominated the game, with five of its players scoring more than ten points, while team captain Vasilis Spanoulis was voted as the MVP of the match.
A victory party was held after the game at Aspro Pato in Glyfada with entertainment by George Tsalikis, with the Olympiakos anthem blaring throughout the club.
In the heart of Piraeus, fans and supporters of the red team flooded the streets to celebrate their team's victory until the early hours of the morning.
