Criminal charges raised against management of “Olympic Village”

A Greek prosecutor raised criminal charges against the management of the “Olympic Village” public limited company on Tuesday. According to local reports, the company, which manages the site of the purpose-built housing of the 2004 Olympic Games, is accused of causing the State damages in excess of 120,000 euros.

The charges were apparently filled against the company in response to a Court of Auditors report, which said that “Olympic Village” had set up its own “recruitment service” for the public sector.

The prosecution accuses the company of “unjustifiably recruiting employees, who later had their fixed-term contracts converted to permanent contracts".

According to the charges, these conversions took place during an election campaign period, which resulted in many employees being appointed in the public sector.
