Car loaded with explosives suddenly explodes on “Attiki Odos”

A car that appears to have been loaded with explosives suddenly exploded on the Attiki Odos motorway in Attica early on Monday morning, according to a report from Mega Channel tv. As a result, one person died while eye witnesses claim that the co-driver of the car was injured and rushed to hospital.

The car was apparently heading towards the Athens International Airport, when it exploded at about 7:30, near the police building on the motorway.

The state television network NERIT cited police sources noting that a preliminary investigation revealed a crater beneath the car, suggesting that explosions were involved.
