During Sunday's match with Genoa at Stadio Olimpico stadium in Rome, Lazio soccer fans raised banners with reference to the two members of the Golden Dawn party that were murdered in cold-blood last Friday in Neo Heraklio. The banner wrote: "IL tramonto รจ rosso, l'alba dorata: Manolis e Yorgos presenti» (the sunset is red, but the dawn is golden: Manolis and George present). It should be noted that a large portion of the fans of Lazio are conservatives, (always have been) while a very small portion tips towards the right. The Jewish communities in Italy, however, condemned the banner, stressing that the fans "used every opportunity to express support for xenophobic, racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic organizations."
