More than 20 people have been detained and four people injured in clashes with police on the Greek peninsula of Halkidiki.

Several hundred people gather to protest against the planned development of a gold mine near tourist sites and a popular resort. In addition to local residents, activists from the left also participated in the protests.

The protesters believe that the gold mine will damage the local ecology.

Police used tear gas against protesters who tried to break into the territory of the future mine. The protesters said they would continue their blockade of the area. (RIA)
