During the second half of 2012, The Republic of Cyprus shall take on the Presidency of the European Union (EU) Council for the first time in its history. A special logo was designed in view for this event which is indeed indicative of the divided island. It is a ship which is steering for a new journey, and then it transforms into a bird, the universal symbol of peace, carrying with it Cyprus’ vision for a better Europe to Brussels. The logo was unveiled during a ceremony on Europe Day at Filoxenia Conference Centre on Tuesday, in the presence of ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic missions of EU member states and other officials. The logo is a concept and creation of the joint venture of “Partners”, which has also taken on the responsibility of developing the Presidency’s visual identity.
