The Greek government is expected to dissolve parliament on Wednesday, paving the way for the official start of the campaign for the country΄s national election thereafter. Speaking on Greek Radio 9 on Monday, Greek government spokesman Pantelis Kapsis said that "the announcement of the date of election is a matter of days" and he reiterated that this week Prime Minister Lucas Papademos is going to visit President Karolos Papoulias to do just that. Last Friday, Interior Minister Tasos Giannitsis said that the most likely election date is May 6 or slightly later. This is in line with a previous announcement from Kapsis, who said the elections could be held on April 29 or May 13.
