John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the thirty-fifth President of the United
States, was assassinated at 12:30 p.m. Central Standard Time (18:30 UTC)
on Friday, November 22, 1963, in Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas. Kennedy
was fatally shot while traveling with his wife Jacqueline, Texas
governor John Connally, and the latter's wife, Nellie, in a Presidential
motorcade. The ten-month investigation of the Warren Commission of
1963–1964 concluded that the President was assassinated by Lee Harvey
Oswald acting alone and that Jack Ruby acted alone when he killed Oswald

Focusing on the assassination, an amazing and spine-chilling documentary entitled "The Men Who Killed Kennedy", began to be broadcasted on October 25, 1988 in the United Kingdom giving a whole new dimension on the story. It raised so many questions that the US Arts & Entertainment Company quickly purchased the rights to the original two segments. Just two years later, the series was re-edited with additional material and divided into three 50 minute programs. But in November 2003, when three additional segments ("The Final Chapter") were added by the History Channel, the findings presented in these three segments raised so much controversy that the entire series was shelved.
The ninth documentary in the series, titled "The Guilty Men," which directly implicates former US President Lyndon B. Johnson, created such an outcry among Johnson's surviving associates, including Johnson's widow, Lady Bird Johnson, journalist Bill Moyers, ex-President Jimmy Carter, Jack Valenti (longtime president of the Motion Picture Association of America), and the last-living (at the time of the outcry) Warren Commission commissioner and ex-President Gerald R. Ford that inspired Johnson supporters to lodge complaints of libel with the History Channel. They subsequently threatened legal action against Arts & Entertainment Company, owner of the History Channel. The History Channel responded by assembling a panel of three historians, Robert Dallek, Stanley Kutler, and Thomas Sugrue.
On a program aired April 7, 2004 called "The Guilty Man: A Historical Review," the panel agreed that the documentary was not credible and should not have aired. The History Channel issued a statement saying, in part, "The History Channel recognizes that 'The Guilty Men' failed to offer viewers context and perspective, and fell short of the high standards that the network sets for itself. The History Channel apologizes to its viewers and to Mrs. Johnson and her family for airing the show." Conspiracy author Barr McClellan, interviewed in the documentary, complained that although the historians examined the evidence, they did not interview him or Turner.
So who did kill President Kennedy on that fateful November day. The Russians, Castro, the Mafia, the Government, the Army, Lee Harvey Oswald, or perhaps a combination of the before mentioned.
In the 2003 commemoration The History Channel showed (apparently) seven episodes, including some of the U.K. version mentioned by the reader above. Additional conspiracy theories were included from a mistress of Oswald, in which she claimed participation in the development of a lung cancer virus to kill Fidel Castro.
All of this indeed sounds too fantastic, but nonetheless it is surprising that it was not broadcasted in the US. There was also a theory that Lyndon Johnson spawned The Plot, which was another part to this series to cover up his own reportedly dirty dealings in Texas in previous years that could have put him in jail. Particularly disturbing was an account of a party in North Dallas the day before the assassination at which LBJ appeared, at which point party guests, including J. Edgar Hoover scattered like roaches. These episodes have probably been shown before.
The Turner series even presents considerable eyewitness evidence that Mafia elements, particularly in Marseille, France and Corsica, could have been involved (and were involved in a frontal shot from the Grassy Knoll). The idea that Oswald had a double is also explored. Moreover, another point mentioned is that someone in the Dallas Police deliberately left “the back door” open for Jack Ruby on Sunday morning so that he can appear and kill Oswald, in what later became the “first nationally televised murder.”
Indeed the mystery surrounding the assassination of JFK is a bit like Roswell, or even Watergate. Evidence of a cover-up still continues to surface till this day. One thing that this writer is convinced of is that the people responsible behind his murder might have also been the people who wanted a war in Vietnam and who wanted to carry out a specific agenda v. the Soviets and the Chinese, as well as who probably interpreted JFK’s intentions following the Cuban Missile Crisis as simply pacifist. I am sure they are the same group of people that staged an Oswald as independent assassin, or fall guy.
