Light from cell phones help mother give birth on Samos

The cell phones of friends and relatives of a pregnant woman were recruited on Friday night at a hospital on the island of Samos and litarelly helped the woman to give birth during a unwanted and uncalled for power blackout. Press reports in Athens said that the woman was in the process of giving birth when a general power blackout occurred and the hospital's generator also stopped working 20 minutes later.

The woman's friends and relatives, who were waiting outside the delivery room, suddenly heard the obstetrician calling them to light up the room with whatever they could find, so they opened their cell phones and the delivery of the infant was completed under the mobile lights..

The local prosecutor was informed of the incident immediately afterwards, no other details were given.
