One month after the tragedy in the Adriatic Sea, investigators announced that they discovered the charred remains of a person inside a truck that was parked on the Norman Atlantic’s fourth deck. The news of the discovery suggests that more victims could possibly have been trapped inside when the fire broke out.
According to the Italian press, the remains were taken to the Forensic Institute in Bari so that the necessary procedures and tests can be carried in order to identify the victim’s identity as well as determine the cause of the death.
This is the first confirmed victim to have been found inside the boat, and raises the number of victims to 10. The other nine victims were recovered at sea and perished from drowning and hypothermia.
