SYRIZA MP Zoi Konstantopoulou was on Friday elected President of the Parliament, after receiving 235 votes. Born in 1976, she is the youngest President in history that was ever voted by the Greek Parliament.
(Some 61 deputies cast a blank vote, while 2 votes were considered invalid, and two MPs -namely New Democracy MP Nikos Dendias and Golden Dawn secretary general Nikos Mihaloliakos- did not attend the voting process).
Konstantopoulou was also supported by junior coalition government party Independent Greeks (ANEL), the New Democracy party, the To Potami party as well as PASOK.
